Scope*1.1 This specification covers fittings and single and coex-truded acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) plastic drain,waste, and vent pipe (DWV) made to Schedule 40 iron pipesizes (IPS). Plastic which does not meet the material require-ments specified in Section 5 is excl

4、uded from single layer andall coextruded layers.1.2 Specification for fittings for use with pipe meeting therequirements of this specification are given in Annex A1.1.3 Acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene plastic, which does notmeet the definition of virgin ABS plastic as given in 3.2.2,isexcluded, as p

5、erformance of plastic other than those defined asvirgin was not determined. ABS rework plastic, which meetsthe requirements of rework plastic as given in 5.3, is accept-able.1.4 Reprocessed plastic or recycled plastic as defined inTerminology D883 is excluded.1.5 Recommendations for storage, joining

Terminology3.1 Definitions:3.1.1 Definitions are in accordance with Terminology F412,and abbreviations are in accordance with Terminology D1600,unless otherwise specified. The abbreviation for acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene is ABS.3.1.2 coextruded pipepipe consis

17、ting of two or moreconcentric layers of material bonded together in processing byany combination of temperature, pressure, grafting,crosslinking, or adhesion.3.1.3 coextrusiona process whereby two or more heatedor unheated plastic material streams forced through one ormore shaping orifice(s) become

18、one continuously formedpiece.3.1.4 room temperaturea temperature in the range from 68to 85 6 3.6F (20 to 30 6 2C).3.2 Definitions of Terms Specific to This Standard:3.2.1 lota lot shall consist of all pipe of the same sizeproduced from one extrusion line during one designated 24-hperiod.3.2.2 recycl

19、ed plastica plastic prepared from discardedarticles that have been cleaned and reground.3.2.3 reprocessed plastica thermoplastic usually preparedfrom melt processed scrap or reject parts by a plasticsprocessor, or from nonstandard or nonuniform virgin material.3.2.4 virgin ABS plasticplastic in the

20、form of pellets,granules, powder, floc, or liquid that has not been subjected touse or processing other than that required for its initialmanufacture.4. Classification4.1 The requirements of this specification are intended toprovide pipe suitable for the drainage and venting of sewageand certain oth

21、er liquid wastes.NOTE 1Industrial waste disposal lines should be installed only withthe specific approval of the cognizant building code authority sincechemicals not commonly found in drains and sewers and temperatures inexcess of 180F (82C) may be encountered.NOTE 2This specification does not inclu

22、de requirements for pipe andfittings intended to be used to vent combustion gases.5. Materials5.1 Material SpecificationVirgin black ABS plastic shallconform to the requirements prescribed in Specification D3965with a cell classification of 4-2-2-2-2. The form of the materialshall be as agreed upon

23、between the seller and the purchaser inaccordance with Specification D3965.5.2 The ABS plastic shall conform to the following require-ments:5.2.1 Acrylonitrile-Butadiene-Styrene (ABS) PlasticPlastic containing polymers or blends of polymers shall containa minimum of 15 % acrylonitrile, 6 % butadiene

24、, and 15 %styrene or substituted styrene, or both. ABS plastic shallcontain no more than 10 % of other monomeric or polymericcomponents plus other necessary compounding ingredients.5.3 Rework MaterialThe manufacturer shall use only hisown clean pipe or fitting rework material conforming withthese ce

25、ll class requirements. The pipe or fittings producedshall meet all the requirements of this specification.6. Requirements6.1 GeneralThe pipe and fittings shall be homogeneousthroughout and free of visible cracks, holes, foreign inclusions,or other injurious defects. The pipe shall be as uniform asco

26、mmercially practicable in color, opacity, density, and otherphysical properties.6.1.1 The requirements in this section are intended only foruse as quality control tests, not as simulated service tests.6.2 Dimensions and Tolerances:6.2.1 Outside DiameterThe outside diameter and toler-ances shall meet

27、 the requirements of Table 1 when measured inaccordance with Test Method D2122. 30、sured at time of manufacturing.D2661 1426.2.2 Wall ThicknessThe wall thickness and tolerancesshall meet the requirements of Table 2 when measured inaccordance with Test Method D2122.6.2.3 LengthThe pipe shall be in either 10 or 20-ft (3.05 or6.1-m) lengths, unless otherwise specified. The allowablet

31、olerance on length shall be +12, 0 in. (+12, 0 mm).6.3 Performance Requirements:6.3.1 Pipe Stiffness The minimum pipe stiffness values at5 % deflection when measured in accordance with Test MethodD2412, shall equal or exceed the values in Table 3. The rate ofcrosshead motion shall be 0.20 to 0.25 in

32、./min (5.1 to 6.3mm/min). Three specimens shall be tested. If all three meet thisrequirement, the sample meets this requirement. If one or twofail, additional testing shall be conducted in accordance with6.3.1.1. If all three fail, the sample does not meet therequirement.6.3.1.1 Pipe Stiffness and L

33、ower Confidence LimitIn theevent that one or two of the specimens tested in 6.3.1 fail tomeet the minimum requirement, the average pipe stiffness ofeleven specimens shall meet or exceed the minimum require-ment given in Table 3. The 99 % lower confidence limit (LCL)shall be within 15 % of the averag

34、e value. The LCL shall becalculated using the Students “ t” distribution, with N-1degrees of freedom, where N is the number of specimens. Thecritical t value shall be used to at least three significant digits.Alternatively, if the LCLexceeds the minimum PS requirementin Table 3, but is not within 15

35、 % of the average, the samplemeets the requirements of the Pipe Stiffness testing. The elevenspecimens include the three tested under 6.3.1, and an addi-tional eight with rotation by 35, as specified in Test MethodD2412, continuing throughout the remaining specimens.6.3.1.2 The LCL based on testing

The engineer is responsible for establishing the accept-able deflection limit.NOTE 5The strength and load-carryi

38、ng capabilities of plastic pipe aremeasured and reported as pipe stiffness, which is determined in accor-dance with Test Method D2412. The term “crush strength” is notapplicable to plastic piping because the values obtained can be signifi-cantly different, depending on the bedding, loading, or testi

39、ng techniqueused, and because the term derives from rigid pipe and refers to itsultimate strength at rupture.6.3.2 Pipe FlatteningThere shall be no evidence of rup-ture when pipe is deflected 40% of the initial inside diameterwhen tested in accordance with Test Method D2412. The rateof head approach

40、 shall be 0.20 to 0.25 in./min (5.1 to 6.3mm/min). Three specimens shall be tested. All shall meet therequirements. Failure shall be a crack or break extendingentirely through the pipe wall visible to the unaided eye.6.3.3 Impact ResistanceThe minimum impact resistance,when tested at the time of man

41、ufacture, shall comply withTable 4. Test in accordance with Test Method D2444 using TupB and Holder B. Use a 30-lb (13.6 kg) tup for testing all pipesizes.6.3.3.1 Test 10 specimens. When 9 or 10 specimens pass,accept the lot. When 2 or more specimens fail, test 10additional specimens. When 17 of 20

42、specimens tested pass,accept the lot. When 4 or more of 20 specimens fail, test 20additional specimens. When 32 of 40 specimens pass, acceptthe lot. 46、en shall be shattering orany crack or break extending entirely through the pipe wall andvisible to the unaided eye.6.4 Coextruded Pipe:6.4.1 Thickness of Outer LayerFor pipe produced by thecoextrusion process, that is, pipe containing two or moreconcentric layers, the outer layer shall be at least 0

47、.020 in.(0.50 mm) thick and shall contain pigments or screening agentsto provide protection against UV radiation.6.4.2 BondFor pipe produced by the coextrusion process,that is, pipe containing two or more concentric layers, the bondbetween the layers shall be strong and uniform. It shall not bepossi

48、ble to separate any two layers with a probe or point of aknife blade so that the layers separate cleanly so the probe orknife blade moves freely between the layers. Nor shall sepa-ration of bond occur between layers during testing performedunder the requirements of this specification.6.5 Other Requi

49、rements:6.5.1 InspectionBefore installation the pipe shall be in-spected. Pipe which does not meet the requirements of thisspecification shall be returned to the seller.6.5.2 JoiningABS schedule 40 drain, waste, and vent(DWV) are joined using molded fittings meeting the require-ments of Annex A1 of this specification.6.5.3 Solvent CementIn the assembly of solvent cementjoints, the safety requirements of Practice F402 shall befollowed using solvent cement meeting the requirements ofSpecification D2
