Scope*1.1 This specification establishes requirements and testmethods for the materials, dimensions, warp, shrinkage, impa

3、ctstrength, expansion, appearance, and wind load resistance ofextruded single-wall siding manufactured from rigid (unplas-ticized) PVC compound. Methods of indicating compliancewith this specification are also provided.1.2 The use PVC recycled plastic in this product shall be inaccordance with the r

25、roduct wheninstalled 1) over a sheathing material designed and attachedsuch that it is capable of resisting 100 % of positive andnegative wind pressures occurring under design conditions atthe building location; and 2) with the standard fasteningmethod specified in building codes, general installati

27、ures occurring under design conditions at the buildinglocation, or when the siding is not fastened in the standard way;as specified by the manufacturer.3.2.6.3 DiscussionThe standard test conditions,configuration, and fastening method used in this Specificationare specified in 6.14, while alternativ

28、e sheathing and installa-tion conditions are specified by the manufacturer and must bereflected in the products installation instructions. Alternativeratings apply only when the specified sheathing and fasteningconditions are used. See Annex A1 for information on differ-ences between the standard wi

29、nd load design pressure ratingand alternative wind load design pressure ratings, and how todetermine standard and alternative design pressure ratings.3.2.7 vinyl sidinga shaped material, made principallyfrom rigid poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC), that is used to cladexterior walls of buildings.3.2.7.1 Di

30、scussionAny exception to a homogeneous rigidPVC compound is present in a coextruded or laminatedcapstock.4. Materials and Manufacture4.1 The siding shall be made of one or more layers ofpoly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) compound.Any layers of materialsother than poly (vinyl chloride) (PVC) compound shall b

31、e keptto less than 20 % by volume.4.2 Where rigid PVC recycled plastic as defined in GuideD5033 is used, the siding containing the PVC recycled plasticshall meet all of the requirements of Section 3, Terminology;Section 4, Materials and Manufacture; and Section 5, PhysicalRequirements.4.3 The poly(v

32、inyl chloride) siding material, when tested inaccordance with Test Method D635, shall not exceed anaverage extent of burn of 4 in. (100 mm), with an average timeof burn not to exceed 10 s. A minimum sample thickness of0.035 in. (0.9 mm) is required. (WarningThe flammabilitytesting data, conclusions,

33、 and recommendations of TestMethod D635 related solely to the measurement and descrip-tion of properties for classification of the poly(vinyl chloride)siding material in response to flame under controlled laboratoryconditions and shall not be used for the description or appraisalof the fire hazard o

34、f vinyl siding under actual fire conditions.)4.4 The PVC compound when extruded into siding shallmaintain uniform color and be free of any visual surface orstructural changes, such as peeling, chipping, cracking, flaking,or pitting.4.5 The PVC compound shall be compounded so as toprovide the heat st

This limitation appliesto both PVC substrate and to any cap or film material.Compliance with this requirement shall be demonstrated byone of the methods in 6.165. Physical Requirements5.1 Length and WidthThe nominal length and width of thesiding shall

38、 be as agreed upon between the purchaser and theseller. The actual length shall not be less than14 in. (6.4 mm)of the nominal length and the actual width shall be within 6116in. (1.6 mm) of the nominal width when measured in accor-dance with 6.3 and 6.4.5.2 ThicknessExcept for heavily textured sidin

39、g, theserequirements pertain only to measurements of the portions ofthe siding that are exposed after installation of the panel,measured in accordance with the procedure in 6.5. For heavilytextured siding, these requirements apply to the portion of thesiding selected for measurement in accordance wi

40、th 6.5. Theaverage thickness of each specimen shall be no less than 0.035in. No individual measurement shall be thinner than 0.003 in.below the nominal thickness. The process average thickness asdefined in 3.2.4 shall be no thinner than 0.001 in. below thenominal thickness.5.3 CamberA full length of

41、 siding (typically 10 or 12 ft(3.05 or 3.61 m) shall not have a camber greater than18 in.(3.2 mm) when measured in accordance with 6.6.5.4 Heat ShrinkageThe average heat shrinkage shall notexceed 3.0 % when determined by the method described in 6.7.5.5 Impact ResistanceSiding shall have a minimum im

42、pact strength of 60 in.lbf (6.78 J) when tested in accordancewith 6.8.5.6 Coeffcient of Linear ExpansionThe siding shall havea coefficient of linear expansion not greater than 4.5 by 10-5in./in./F (8.1 by 105mm/mm/C) when tested in accordancewith 6.9.5.7 GlossThe gloss of smooth and embossed siding

43、 shallbe uniform across the exposed surface. The average of allreadings for a panel determined in 6.11.2.5 shall not differ fromthe manufacturers specified gloss value more than the permit-ted variation in Table 1, and each individual reading shall notvary more than 10 points from the average. Thisdistortion is called “oil-canning.”5.9 ColorThe color of the siding shall be within thedefined color space parameters for the specific color agreedupon between the purchaser and the manufacturer. The colorspecified shall be unif

46、orm on the surface of the siding panels,except in the case of multicolored woodgrain panels.5.9.1 Uniformity of ColorWhen tested in accordance with6.13, the total color change, E, between a production speci-men and the appropriate reference specimen or agreed-uponcolor coordinates shall not vary by

47、more than 1.5, and thechromatic coordinates thereof shall not change by more than6aH= 1.0 and 6bH= 1.0.5.10 Weathering:5.10.1 The siding shall maintain a uniform color and be freeof any visual surface or structural changes such as peeling,chipping, cracking, flaking, and pitting when tested in accor

48、dance with 6.10.NOTE 3Weathering-conformance-testing requirements are to reflectperformance of a “typical” extrusion siding profile representing a specificcolor of PVC compound and a specific extrusion technology. In no case isthere an implied requirement for testing all the various shaped and size

49、dsiding profiles produced in this color. The lengthy outdoor weatherabilitytesting for new products may be performed concurrently with marketdevelopment and sales of siding to existing markets. Completion ofweatherability testing prior to marketing of the product is not required.5.11 Wind Load ResistanceThe siding shall withstand aminimum static test pressure and a standard wind load designpressure rating shall be determined.5.11.1 Minimum Test PressureThe siding panel(s) shall beable to withstand a minimum
