General Specifications and Qualification Requirements6.1 All varnishes supplied under this specification mustconform to the limits outlined in Table 1, and must meet, orexceed, all specification requirements.6.2 A varnish supplied under this spec

16、ification is to bemanufactured from one specific formula and one specificprocess at one or more plants of the same company.6.3 Changes involved solely with percent nonvolatile con-tent or compatible solvent system, do not requirerequalification, if agreed upon between supplier and user.6.4 If any fo

17、rmula or process changes are desired afterqualification approval has been granted, conduct the tests inTable 1, except for thermal class.6.5 If varnishes from different suppliers are to be mixed orused in a common tank or container, determine their compat-ibility by Test Methods D115. They must be c

18、ompatible, bothin the liquid and solid state, with the varnish currently beingused in the system.6.6 Varnishes containing silicone in any portion, must notbe mixed with non-silicone varnishes.6.7 The qualification requirements of the varnish shall be asmutually agreed upon between supplier and user,

19、 with tests tobe performed in accordance with the appropriate methods, andlimits as shown in Table 1.6.8 Preconditioning: Grade DA Varnishes OnlyPrecondition all Grade DA varnish specimens, both flexibleand rigid, in air at room temperature for seven days prior tocarrying out dielectric strength and

20、 bond strength tests shownin Table 1.7. Hazards7.1 It is unsafe to use varnish at temperatures above theflash point without adequate ventilation, especially if thepossibility exists that flames or sparks are present. Storevarnish in sealed containers.8. Sampling8.1 Obtain varnish samples and appropr

21、iate thinner eitherfrom the manufacturer or directly from shipping containerssupplied from the manufacturer. It is also acceptable to obtainsuitable samples from material in process. It is important thatnew, or thoroughly cleaned sampling containers be used. It isacceptable to obtain suitable sample

22、s by any of a number ofprocedures commonly used in the industry. Normally, thesample is simply poured from the shipping container. Thesample container shall have a tight fitting cover to minimize theloss of solvents. A dipping ladle is an acceptable choice, or, ifit is desirable to obtain a sample f

23、rom various levels, useappropriate sampling techniques.8.2 The quantity of sample is that required as indicated in9.1.9. Quality Conformance Tests9.1 General RequirementsFrom each batch of varnish,take a 2-qt (2-L) sample and test. The values must meet thelimits listed for specification requirements
