Ordering Information3.1 Ordering documentation for valves under this specifica-tion shall include the following

8、 information, as required, todescribe the equipment adequately.3.1.1 ASTM designation and year of issue.3.1.2 Primary valve specification (see 1.1).3.1.3 End preparations, if different than specified in 4.4.3.1.4 Supplementary requirements, if any (see S1 throughS4).4. Valve Design and Construction4

9、.1 Valves shall incorporate the features specified in 4.2 4.6.4.2 Materials of ConstructionMaterial requirements shallbe as follows:4.2.1 The pressure containing/retaining envelope (includingany bolting, union nuts, or other fastening devices establishingthe integrity of the pressure containing/reta

10、ining envelope),bellows (where applicable), and end nipples, shall be nickel-copper (70-30). Internal trim which is in contact with the linemedia shall be nickel-copper (70-30), bronze, nickel-aluminum-bronze, Inconel Alloy 600, brass, or other materialswhich are compatible with oxygen service.4.2.2

11、 Non-metallic seat, seat insert, or seals. These materialsshall be selected from TFE, Reinforced TFE, CTFE, plastic inaccordance with MIL-P-46122, Polyamide (Vespel), or PEEK.The materials for O-rings and gaskets shall be compatible foroxygen service.4.2.3 LubricantsMaterials for lubricants shall be

Guidance ondesigning systems for oxygen service can be found in GuideG88.4.3 General Requirements:4.3.1 Fire PreventionValves shall be constructed to m

17、ini-mize the possibility of initiating ignition in gaseous oxygenservice. This shall be accomplished by the following:4.3.1.1 Materials for parts in contact with oxygen shall havethe highest spontaneous ignition temperatures and the lowestimpact sensitivities compatible with construction and perfor-

18、mance limitations.4.3.1.2 Surfaces in contact with oxygen shall be smoothwith well-rounded edges and without sharp or thin sectionedprotrusions (that is, all parts shall have a high ratio ofvolume-to-surface area). Sharp exterior corners are prohibited,and interior corners shall have fillets to prev

19、ent the retention orentrapment of machining chips, burrs, or foreign material.4.3.1.3 Nonmetallic materials (O-rings, gaskets, etc.) otherthan the seating insert, if applicable, shall be well removedfrom the main flow path.4.3.2 Fire ContainmentValves shall be constructed tominimize oxygen escape in

20、 the event of an internal or externalfire. This shall be accomplished by the following:4.3.2.1 Pressure-Boundary SealingJoints for the pressure-boundary seals shall provide an effective barrier to leakage inthe event of damage or consumption of the non-metallicsealing elements by providing long, clo

21、se fitting metal-to-metalleakage or flame paths.4.3.2.2 Internal SeatingThe seat design shall be such thatin the event that the non-metallic seat is damaged, destroyed, orcarried away, there will be a secondary metal-to-metal seat tominimize through seat leakage. The construction and locationof the

22、nonmetallic seals and seating inserts shall minimize thepossibility of ignition under a pressure surge.4.3.2.3 Pressure SurgeValves shall be designed to preventpressure surge, which could cause auto-ignition.4.4 Design Features:4.4.1 Manual valves shall be of the packless design, with thestem sealed

23、 by a bellows.4.4.2 ThreadsThreads shall conform to ANSI B1.1. Useof threads in contact with oxygen shall be minimized. Anythreads wetted by oxygen shall be of rolled construction orshall be completely chamfered and deburred to prevent thepossibility of sharp edges or machining burrs in contact with

24、oxygen.4.4.3 CleaningPrior to assembly and testing, valves shallbe degreased and cleaned in accordance with Practice G93, andthereafter maintained clean for oxygen service.4.5 End PreparationUnless otherwise specified (see Sec-tion 3), end preparation for the valves shall be as follows:4.5.1 Valves

25、shall be supplied with inline extension nippleswelded directly to the valve body or fabricated as an integralpart of the valve body. Nipples shall be of the same basicmaterial as the body. The length and schedule of these nipplesshall be as specified in Table 1.4.6 Welding and Nondestructive Testing

26、Welding and non-destructive testing shall be in accordance with ASME Boilerand Pressure Vessel Code, Sections VIII and IX.5. Marking5.1 Identification PlatesA metallic corrosion-resistingidentification plate shall be securely attached to the valve andshall indicate “Valve specially made for oxygen s

27、ervice”.5.2 In addition, each valve shall be marked in accordancewith their applicable primary valve specification requirements.6. Quality Assurance System6.1 The manufacturer shall establish and maintain a qualityassurance system that will ensure all the requirements of thisspecification are satisf

28、ied.6.2 Awritten description of the quality assurance system themanufacturer will use shall be available for review andacceptance by the inspection authority.6.3 The purchaser reserves the right to witness any tests andinspect the valves in the manufacturers plant to the extentspecified on the purch

30、16)12SUPPLEMENTARY REQUIREMENTSOne or more of the following supplementary requirements S1, S2, S3, or S4 shall be applied onlywhen specified by the purchaser in the inquiry, contract, or order. Details of those supplementaryrequirements shall be agreed upon in writing by the manufacturer and purchas

31、er. Supplementaryrequirements shall in no way negate any requirement of the specification itself.S1. Supplemental TestsS1.1 Supplemental tests shall be conducted at a laboratorysatisfactory to the customer and shall consist of the examina-tions and tests selected from those specified in S1.2 through

32、S1.4.S1.2 Examination Prior to TestingThe valve(s) shall beexamined visually to determine conformance with the orderingdata, dimensions, and workmanship without disassembly.S1.3 Nonmetallic Materials Compatibility TestMaterialsshall be subjected to the ozone-resistance and oxygen-bombtests as specif

33、ied in MIL-V-5027, with test pressure applicableto the valve under test. No charring or deterioration is allowed.S1.4 Nondestructive TestingNondestructive testing shallbe in accordance with MIL-STD-271.S2. Cleaning, Drying, Packaging, and Marking Require-mentsS2.1 Valves shall be cleaned, dried, pac

34、kaged, and markedin accordance with MIL-STD-1330. Packaging operationsshall be accomplished in an area that will prevent valvecontamination by hydrocarbons.S3. Quality AssuranceS3.1 Scope of WorkThe written description of the qualityassurance system shall include the scope and locations of thework t

35、o which the system is applicable.S3.2 Authority and ResponsibilityThe authority and re-sponsibility of those in charge of the quality assurance systemshall be clearly established.S3.3 Organization An organizational chart showing therelationship between management and the engineering,purchasing, manu

36、facturing, construction, inspection, and qual-ity control groups is required. The purpose of this chart is toidentify and associate the various organizational groups withthe particular functions for which they are responsible. Theserequirements are not intended to encroach on the manufactur-ers righ

37、t to establish, and from time to time to alter, whateverform of organization the manufacturer considers appropriatefor its work. Persons performing quality control functions shallhave a sufficiently well-defined responsibility and the authorityand the organizational freedom to identify quality contr

38、olproblems and to initiate, recommend, and provide solutions.S3.4 Review of Quality Assurance SystemThe manufac-turer shall ensure and demonstrate the continuous effectivenessof the quality assurance system.S3.5 Drawings, Design Calculations, and SpecificationControlThe manufacturers quality assuran

39、ce system shallinclude provisions to ensure that the latest applicable drawings,design calculations, specifications, and instructions, includingall authorized changes, are used for manufacture, examination,inspection, and testing.S3.6 Purchase ControlThe manufacturer shall ensure thatall purchased m

40、aterial and services conform to specifiedrequirements and that all purchase orders give full details of thematerial and services ordered.S3.7 Material ControlThe manufacturer shall include asystem for material control that ensures the material received isproperly identified and that any required doc

41、umentation ispresent, identified to the material, and verifies compliance tothe specified requirements. The material control system shallensure that only the intended material is used in manufacture.The manufacturer shall maintain control of material during themanufacturing process by a system that

42、identified inspectionstatus of material throughout all stages of manufacture.S3.8 Manufacturing ControlThe manufacturer shall en-sure that manufacturing operations are carried out undercontrolled conditions utilizing documented work instructions.The manufacturer shall provide for inspection, whereap

43、propriate, for each operation that affects quality or shallarrange an appropriate monitoring operation.S3.9 Quality Control PlanThe manufacturers qualitycontrol plan shall describe the fabrication operations, includingexaminations and inspections.S3.10 WeldingThe quality control system shall include

44、provisions for ensuring that welding conforms to specifiedrequirements. Welders shall be qualified to the appropriatestandards and the qualification records shall be made availableto the inspection authority if required.S3.11 Nondestructive ExaminationProvisions shall bemade to utilize non-destructi

45、ve examination, as necessary, toensure that material and components comply with the specifiedrequirements. Non-destructive examinations shall be autho-rized by their employer or qualified by a recognized nationalbody, or both, and their authorizations/qualification recordsshall be made available to

46、the inspection authority if required.S3.12 Non-Conforming ItemsThe manufacturer shall es-tablish procedures for controlling items not in conformancewith the specified requirements.S3.13 Heat TreatmentThe manufacturer shall providecontrols to ensure that all required heat treatments have beenapplied.

47、 Means should be provided by which heat treatmentrequirements can be verified.S3.14 Inspection StatusThe manufacturer shall maintain asystem for identifying the inspection status of material duringall stages of manufacture and shall be able to distinguishbetween inspected and non-inspected material.

48、S3.15 Calibration of Measurement and Test EquipmentThe manufacturer shall provide, control, calibrate, and main-tain inspection, measuring and test equipment to be used inverifying conformance to the specified requirements. Suchcalibration shall be traceable to a national standard andcalibration rec

49、ords shall be maintained.F1792 97 (2016)13S3.16 Records MaintenanceThe manufacturer shall havea system for the maintenance of inspection records,radiographs, and manufacturers data reports that describe theachievement of the required quality and the effective operationof the quality system.S3.17 Sample FormsThe forms used in the quality controlsystem and any detailed procedures for their use shall beavailable for review. The written description of the qualityassurance system shall make reference to these forms.S3.18 Inspection Author
