3、e pipe produced by singleextrusion in standard thermoplastic pipe dimension ratios andpressure rated for water (see Appendix X1). Included arecriteria for classifying ABS plastic pipe materials and ABSplastic pipe, a system of nomenclature for ABS plastic pipe,and requirements and test methods for m
4、aterials, workmanship,dimensions, sustained pressure, burst pressure, and extrusionquality. Methods of marking are also given.1.2 The products covered by this specification are intendedfor use with the distribution of pressurized liquids, which arechemically compatible with the piping materials. Con
5、sult withthe manufacturer and local building codes before use in otherapplications. Due to inherent hazards associated with testingcomponents and systems with compressed air or other com-pressed gases some manufacturers do not allow pneumatictesting of their products. Consult with specific product/c
6、omponent manufacturers for their specific testing proceduresprior to pneumatic testing.NOTE 1Pressurized (compressed) air or other compressed gasescontain large amounts of stored energy which present serious safetyhazards should a system fail for any reason.NOTE 2Exposure to ultraviolet radiation ov

Consult the manufacturerfor recommendations for handling, storage, and installations that are notprotected by insulation.1.3 Pipe meeting the requirements of this standard is notcompatible with DWV fittings. The ABS pipe covered
8、 in thisstandard is intended for pressure service and it shall be joinedto pressure fittings. Non-pressure fittings, such as DWV fittingsfrom any material (ABS, PVC, CPVC, etc.) are not acceptablefor pressure applications.1.4 The text of this specification references notes, footnotes,and appendixes

21、ion.4.5 Potable Water RequirementProducts intended for con-tact with potable water shall be evaluated, tested and certifiedfor conformance with NSF/ANSI Standard No. 61 or the healtheffects portion of NSF/ANSI Standard No. 14 by an acceptablecertifying organization when required by the regulatory au
22、thor-ity having jurisdiction.5. Pipe Classification5.1 GeneralThis specification covers ABS pipe producedby single extrusion.5.2 Standard Pipe Dimension Ratios (SDR)This specifi-cation covers ABS pipe in six standard dimension ratios,namely, 9, 11, 13.5, 17, 21, and 26. These are referred to asSDR9,
23、 SDR11, SDR13.5, SDR17, SDR21, and SDR26, re-spectively. The pressure rating is uniform for all nominal pipesizes for a given ABS pipe material and SDR (see Table X1.1,Appendix).6. Requirements6.1 WorkmanshipThe pipe shall be homogeneousthroughout and free of visible cracks, holes, foreign inclusion
24、s,or other defects. The pipe shall be as uniform as commerciallypracticable in color, opacity, density, and other physical prop-erties.6.2 Dimensions and Tolerances:6.2.1 Outside DiametersThe outside diameters and toler-ances shall be as shown in Table 1 when measured inaccordance with Test Method D
25、2122. The tolerances forout-of-roundness shall apply only on pipe prior to shipment.6.2.2 Wall ThicknessThe wall thicknesses and tolerancesshall be as shown in Table 2 when measured in accordancewith Test Method D2122.6.3 Sustained PressureThe pipe shall not fail, balloon,burst, or weep as defined i
26、n Test Method D1598 at the testpressures given in Table 3 when tested in accordance with 7.5.6.4 Burst PressureThe minimum burst pressures for ABSplastic pipe shall be as given in Table 4, when determined inaccordance with 7.6.7. Test Methods7.1 ConditioningCondition the test specimens at 73 63.6F (
27、23 6 2C) and 50 6 10 % relative humidity for not lessthan 40 h prior to test in accordance with Procedure A ofPractice D618 for those tests where conditioning is required.7.2 Test ConditionsConduct the tests in the StandardLaboratory Atmosphere of 23 6 2C and 50 6 10 % relativehumidity, unless other
28、wise specified in the test methods or inthis specification.7.3 SamplingThe selection of the sample or samples ofpipe shall be as agreed upon by the purchaser and the seller. Incase of no prior agreement, any sample selected by the testinglaboratory shall be deemed adequate.7.3.1 Test SpecimensNot le
29、ss than 50 % of the testspecimens required for any pressure test shall have at least apart of the marking in their central sections. The central sectionis that portion of pipe which is at least one pipe diameter awayfrom an end closure.7.4 Dimensions and TolerancesUse any length of pipe todetermine

Test individually with water at the internal pressuresgiven in Table 3, six specimens of pipe, each specimen at leastten times the nominal diameter in length, but not less tha
33、n10 in. (250 mm) or more than 3 ft (920 mm) between endclosures and bearing the permanent marking on the pipe.Maintain the specimens at the pressure indicated for a period of1000 h. Hold the pressure as closely as possible, but within610 psi (670 kPa). Condition the specimens at the testtemperature
34、of 73F (23C) to within 63.6F (62C). Main-tain the test temperature at 73 6 3.6F (23 6 2C). Test inaccordance with Test Method D1598, except maintain thepressure at the values given in Table 3 for 1000 h. Failure oftwo of the six specimens tested shall constitute failure in thetest. Failure of one of
35、 the six specimens tested is cause forretest of six additional specimens. Failure of one of the sixspecimens tested in retest shall constitute failure in the test.Evidence of failure of the pipe shall be as defined in TestMethod D1598.7.6 Burst PressureDetermine the minimum burst pressurewith at lea
36、st five specimens in accordance with Test MethodD1599. Marking9.1 Quality of MarkingThe marking shall be applied
