8、des, specifications, recommended practices, methods, classifications, and guides) of the AmericanWelding Society (AWS) are voluntary consensus standards that have been developed in accordance with the rules of theAmerican National Standards Institute (ANSI). When AWS American National Standards are

33、quirements for the commonly used construction codes and specifications has beenexpressed by many individuals and organizations. The purpose of a welding procedure qualification is to provide test datafor assessing the properties of a weld joint.This Welding Procedure Specification is an outgrowth of
34、 the coordinated work of the Welding Procedures Committee ofthe Welding Research Council and the AWS B2 Committee on Welding Procedure and Performance Qualification. TheWelding Procedures Committee has provided the test data documented by a Summary of Procedure Qualification Records.The welding term
35、s used in this specification shall be interpreted in accordance with the definitions given in the latestedition of AWS A3.0, Standard Welding Terms and Definitions, Including Terms for Adhesive Bonding, Brazing, Soldering,Thermal Cutting, and Thermal Spraying.The AWS Committee on Welding Procedure a

The data to support this Standard WeldingProcedure Specification (SWPS) were derived fromthe above-listed Procedure Qualificat
41、ion Records(PQRs) which were reviewed and validated underthe auspices of the Welding Research Council. ThisSWPS is not valid using conditions and variablesoutside the ranges listed. The American WeldingSociety considers that this SWPS presents infor-mation for producing an acceptable weld using thec
42、onditions and variables listed. The user needs asignificant knowledge of welding and accepts fullresponsibility for the performance of the weld andfor providing the engineering capability, qualifiedpersonnel, and proper equipment to implement thisSWPS.Application. This SWPS is to be used only asperm
43、itted by the applicable fabrication document(s);such as code, specification, or contract docu-ment(s). The fabrication document(s) should specifythe engineering requirements such as design, needfor heat treatment, fabricating tolerances, qualitycontrol, and examination and tests applicable to theend
44、 product.Users Responsibility. An SWPS does not replaceor substitute for fabrication codes, specifications,contract requirements, or capability and judgmenton the part of the user. An SWPS is to be used onlyas permitted by the applicable fabrication code,specification, or contract document.The abili
45、ty to produce production welds havingproperties suitable for the application depends uponsupplementing the SWPS with appropriate perfor-mance qualification tests and sound engineeringjudgment. The user is responsible for the quality andperformance of the final product in accordance withthe provision
46、s of the fabrication document(s).Supplementary Instructions. To adapt this SWPSto a specific application, a user may issue supple-mentary instructions. Such instructions may consistof tighter fit-up tolerances, higher minimum preheattemperature or any other instructions necessary toproduce a weldmen
47、t that meets the requirements ofthe fabrication document(s). These instructions shallnot be less restrictive than provided in the SWPS.Safety. Safety precautions shall conform to thelatest edition of ANSI Z49.1, Safety in Welding,Cutting, and Allied Processes, published by theAmerican Welding Societ
