7、s hardware includes a wide variety of items which are divided into several categories. To recognize this diversity, a sectional classification system has been established. The Electrified Locking Devices Standard is a result of the collective efforts of members of several sections of the Builders Ha
8、rdware Manufacturers Association, Inc. who manufacture these products. The total Product Standards effort is, therefore, a collection of sections, each covering a specific category of items. Performance tests and, where necessary, material and dimensional requirements have been established to insure
9、 safety and stability to which the public is entitled. There are no restrictions on design except for those dimensional requirements imposed for reasons given above. This Standard is not intended to obstruct but rather to encourage the development of improved products, methods and materials. The BHM
10、A recognizes that errors will be found, items will become obsolete, and new products, methods and materials will be developed. With this in mind, the Association plans to update, correct and revise this Standard on a regular basis. In most cases, products have been described in grade levels related

SCOPE 1.1 Electrified locking systems are usually comprised of four functional components: locking devices, input devices, controlling devices, and power supplies. This Standard establishes requirements
13、 for the locking devices, whose mechanical aspects are described in the applicable BHMA product Standards; in addition, where the input or controlling device or both are an integral part of the locking device, they shall also be tested with the locking device covered by this Standard. This Standard
14、includes requirements for cyclical, security, operational, strength, and environmental tests for these products. 1.2 Tests described in this Standard are performed under laboratory conditions. In actual usage, results may vary because of installation, maintenance, and environmental conditions. 2. DE
15、FINITIONS 2.1 Accessory Equipment Pieces of equipment attached to or added to a product and are of such size that they are capable of being marked for identification by a catalog number or equivalent. Accessory equipment usually is dependent upon a basic part of a system for mechanical support, elec
16、trical input, or both; and may or may not, by itself, perform a complete function. 2.2 Controlling Device A device that processes the input signal and gives instructions to the locking device to perform certain functions. 2.3 Duty Cycle A figure of merit applied to devices designed to operate only i
17、ntermittently. It requires two numbers to specify: the maximum percentage of time the device may be activated and the maximum continuous activation time. 2.4 Electrical Fast Transient (EFT) “Transient“ is a term applied to either parameter (Current or voltage). It describes either parameter (current
18、 or voltage) as a function of time during the period of adjustment (the transient period) when in a steady-state-circuit a switch is activated which changes the circuit and the parameters are adjusting to their new steady-state values. “Fast“ is an arbitrary term, which describes the time between sw
19、itch activation and the parameter becoming asymptotic to its new value. For the purposes of this Standard, a transient period of a millisecond or less is regarded as a “fast transient“ or EFT. 2.5 Electrified Locking Device An electrically powered device which enables a door to be locked or unlocked
20、 in response to an electric signal. 2.6 Environmental Types 2.6.1 Full Outdoor Type An electrified device which, when installed as intended by the manufacturer, has the entire electrified locking device fully exposed to an outdoor environment. 2.6.2 Full Indoor Type An electrified locking device whi
21、ch, when installed as intended by the manufacturer, has the entire electrified locking device fully exposed to an indoor environment. 2.6.3 Locked Outdoor Type An electrified locking device which, when installed as intended by the manufacturer, has its locked side exposed to the outdoor environment
22、and an indoor environment on the other side. 2.6.4 Locked Indoor Type An electrified locking device which, when installed as intended by the manufacturer, has its unlocked side exposed to the outdoor environment and an indoor environment on the other side. 2.7 Externally Powered Lock A lock that rel
23、ies on a wired connection to an external power source for maintaining normal operation. 6 2.8 ESD (Electro-Static Discharge) A transfer of electric charge between bodies of different electrostatic potential in proximity or through direct contact. 2.9 Fail Maintained A locking device to which the rem
24、oval of power does not change the locked or unlocked mode. 2.10 Fail Safe Locking a locking device with the application of power and having the device unlock when the power is removed. 2.11 Fail Secure Unlocking a locking device with the application of power and having the device lock when the power
25、 is removed. 2.12 Frame Mounted Actuator A frame mounted mechanism, which manipulates the lock or unlock function of a cooperating locking mechanism in a door in response to signals from an input or controlling device. 2.13 High Voltage Wired Lock Any locking device that operates using voltages equa
26、l to, or exceeding 30VAC RMS or 42.4VDC or AC peak and connects to external wiring for power or control. 2.14 Indoor Environment The aggregate of climate controlled conditions found within a building. 2.15 Integral Part of the Locking Device A component essential for operation that is joined with th
27、e other components of the locking device assembly 2.16 Input Device The device that activates or communicates with a controlling device or the output device. 2.17 Low Voltage Wired Lock Any locking device that operates using voltages of less than 30VAC RMS or 42.4VDC or AC peak, and connects to exte
28、rnal wiring for power or control. 2.18 Low Voltage Stand Alone Lock Any locking device that operates using voltages of less than 30VAC RMS or 42.4VDC or AC peak, that does not rely on external wiring for power or control to perform its intended operation. 2.19 Outdoor Environment The aggregate of cl
29、imate conditions found in the surrounding unsheltered open air. 2.20 Power Supply A source of electrical energy. 2.21 RF (Radio Frequency) Energy Electromagnetic energy at any frequency in the radio spectrum between 9 kHz and 300 gHz. 2.22 Self-Powered Lock A locking device that uses an internal mea
30、ns to generate or harvest power to operate the lock without relying on a wired external connection for normal operation. 3. GENERAL 3.1 Devices Covered Electrified locking devices include mortise locks, bored locks, preassembled locks, auxiliary locks, interconnected locks, exit devices, exit locks,
31、 cylinders, and cabinet locks. These products may also be furnished with common optional electrical functions described in Section 7. 3.2 Features The various combinations of current and voltages, monitoring systems, types of locking devices and locking functions, failure modes, use of motors or sol
32、enoids, and use of mechanical overrides provide for the description of several hundred separate functions of electrified locking devices. Specify each of the features desired and verify that the resulting product described is available. Consult manufacturers catalogs. See Appendix A for a list of so
33、me typical features available. 7 3.3 Values Required values in this Standard are given in US units. The SI (metric) equivalents are approximate. All values which do not carry specific tolerances or are not marked maximum or minimum shall have the following tolerances: Linear dimensions shall be 1/16
34、 in (1.6 mm). Pounds or pound force shall be 2%. Angular measurements shall be 2 degrees. Voltage measurements shall be 5 percent. Temperature measurements shall be 4 degrees F (2 degrees C). 3.4 Grading Locking devices referenced in 4.1 are available in various performance grades. Electrified syste
35、ms, which can be built from the combination of various products or devices, shall carry the least stringent BHMA grade of the device used in the system. 3.5 Electrified locking devices shall be described using the three part Type Number system shown in Section 7. 3.6 Power Identification Electrified
36、 locks with an external power source shall be identified with the intended nominal operating voltage, current, frequency and whether the power is alternating current (AC), direct current (DC), or either. If the lock is polarized, the intended hookup polarity (+ and -) shall be identified. Locks with
37、 user selectable input voltages shall have the manufacturers setting identified. 3.7 Accessory Equipment With accessory equipment installed and operating, the product shall comply with the requirements of this Standard. 4. COMPLIANCE WITH OTHER STANDARDS 4.1 Electrified locking devices shall meet th
38、e performance requirements as defined by the applicable ANSI/BHMA A156 Standards for the product and grade specified by the manufacturer. Electrified input devices shall meet the requirements of Section 7 of A156.5, and paragraphs 7.4.3 of A156.30. 4.2 The manufacturer is permitted to request a waiv
39、er of all or a portion of the BHMA tests by presenting an engineering analysis demonstrating the products similarity to a device currently in an ongoing certification program. The analysis must clearly show the mechanical characteristics were not affected by the electrification. The Nationally Recog
40、nized Testing Laboratory responsible for the certification program must agree with the analysis. The BHMA tests which require operation of the product, shall include electrical operation required by 6.4.1 as specified. 4.3 When performance tests required by this Standard are identical to tests requi

44、y a Nationally Recognized Independent Testing Laboratory and be subject to an in-plant follow up inspection service. 5. TEST EQUIPMENT AND FIXTURES 5.1 Slam Cycle Test Perform on a standard 36 inch x 84 inch (910 mm x 2130 mm) door weighing 100 lbs. (45 kg) with the center of gravity located 18 in.
45、(455 mm) from the hinge edge. Install the door in a steel frame with a 5/8 in. (15.9 mm) stop and mounted in a reinforced structure sufficient to withstand the test parameters. The door shall be installed to insure door stop contact for the full height of the door. The stop contact surface shall not
46、 have any rubber bumpers or other cushioning means such as gasketing. Doors shall be hung on hinges, accurately aligned with pins vertical or on offset pivots or center pivots, if required by the door closer. Force required to overcome friction or out of balance condition shall be 1/4 lbf. (1.1 N) o
47、r less throughout the test measured perpendicular to the face of the door at a point 30 in (762 mm) from pivot center. Use a size 3 door closer type C01011, C02011 or C03011, with 90 degrees door opening and valves fully opened. Perform in the test door assembly with the strike removed. Door closing
48、 speed shall be 2.5 seconds or less from 90 degrees open to fully closed with no deceleration during the closing cycle. Adjust the cycling mechanism to open the door 20 degrees (13 in. 330 mm linear measurement at the latch stile of the door measured at the latch edge perpendicular to the door in th
49、e closed position). 5.2 Variable Ambient Temperature Test Conduct after installing the electrified locking device on a test fixture panel to permit the normal operation of the electrified locking device and placing it in a variable ambient temperature chamber having a temperature range of between -31 degrees and 151 degrees F ( -35 and 66 degrees C). 5.3 During all testing the power supply shall be within 5% of the specified operating voltage of the lock as applicable.
