Average Gain to Null Ratio The average gain to null ratio is the ratio of the average gain of all lobes within 3 dB of the maximum lobe to the minimum null CEA Test Channels The TV channels on which tests are to be conducted. TV channels 2, 4, 6, 7, 9, 11, 13, 14, 20, 26, 32, 38, 44, and 50 CEA

14、TV Antenna Selector Map Program A computer program that allows consumers to input their location and receive a listing of receivable terrestrial over-the-air TV signals along with recommendations for appropriate antennas with which to receive these signals. Consumers may access this program at www.A

15、ntennaWeb.org. Directional Antenna An antenna with a desired maximum lobe. Front to Back Ratio The ratio of an antennas maximum gain (front, 0) to the highest gain between 90 and 270 (back). Half Power Beam Width In a radiation pattern plot containing the direction of the maximum lobe, the angle bet

16、ween the two directions in which the radiation pattern shows one-half the maximum value. Multidirectional Antenna An antenna that exhibits no preferred pointing direction. 2.4 Symbols and Abbreviations dB Decibel dBd Decibels with respect to a dipole CEA2028-B dBm Decibels with respect to a milliwat

17、t UHF Ultra High Frequency TV Channels 14 and above VHF Very High Frequency TV Channels 2-13 2.5 Compliance Notation As used in this document “shall” and “must” denote mandatory provisions of the standard. “Should” denotes a provision that is recommended but not mandatory. “May” denotes a feature wh

18、ose presence does not preclude compliance, and implementation of which is optional. “Optional” denotes items that may or may not be present in a compliant device. 3 Color Coding of Outdoor TV Receiving Antennas Use of color codes and various trademarked CEA logos associated with the www.AntennaWeb.o

19、rg program require a license agreement with CEA. The license agreement regulates the way color codes and logos can be used. The color codes are: yellow, green, light green, red, blue, and violet. The color coding is nominally hierarchical in that higher gain antennas will, in general, (see Annex A f

20、or more information and application information) qualify for the color of lower gain antennas. For example a red antenna would also qualify as a light green, green, and yellow antenna. All antenna gain measurements shall be without external amplification (i.e., only the antenna as defined herein is

21、to be measured). For antennas with an integrated amplifier, the antenna portion shall be measured separately from the amplifier. All measurements should be made in accordance with CEA-774-C. 3.1 Multidirectional Antennas Coded Yellow, Green, Light Green 3.1.1 Yellow Requirements To be eligible for t

22、he yellow color code an antenna must have antenna gain: - that exceeds an average of -25.0 dBd on CEA Test Channels 2, 4 and 6, with the gain on any single channel exceeding -29.0 dBd; - that exceeds an average of -15.0 dBd on CEA Test Channels 7, 9, 11 and 13, with the gain on any single channel ex

23、ceeding -19.0 dBd; and - that exceeds an average of -10.0 dBd on CEA Test Channels 14, 20, 26, 32, 38, 44, and 50, with the gain on any single channel exceeding -14.0 dBd. When employing a built in active amplifier stage yellow coded antennas must meet the intermodulation and pre-amplifier criteria

24、described in Section 4. An active antenna must be able to handle high signal levels (see Section 8.3 of CEA-774-C) or provide a means of bypassing active circuits or otherwise modifying circuit operation to meet the intermodulation and spurious tests defined in Section 8 of CEA-774-C. 3 CEA2028-B 3.

25、1.2 Green Requirements To be eligible for the green color code an antenna must have antenna gain: - that exceeds an average of 12.0 dBd on CEA Test Channels 2, 4 and 6, with the gain on any single channel exceeding 16.0 dBd; - that exceeds an average of 9.0 dBd on CEA Test Channels 7, 9, 11 and 13,

26、with the gain on any single channel exceeding 13.0 dBd; and - that exceeds an average of 6.0 dBd on CEA Test Channels 14, 20, 26, 32, 38, 44, and 50 with the gain on any single channel exceeding 10.0 dBd. When employing a built in active amplifier stage green coded antennas must meet the intermodula

27、tion and pre-amplifier criteria described in Section 4. 3.1.3 Light Green Requirements To be eligible for the light green color code an antenna must have: - antenna gain that exceeds an average of -4.5 dBd on CEA Test Channels 2, 4 and 6, with the gain on any single channel exceeding -8.5 dBd; - ant

28、enna gain that exceeds an average of -4.5 dBd on CEA Test Channels 7, 9, 11 and 13, with the gain on any single channel exceeding -8.5 dBd; - antenna gain that exceeds an average of -4.5 dBd on CEA Test Channels 14, 20, 26, 32, 38, 44, and 50, with the gain on any single channel exceeding -8.5 dBd;

29、and - a built in active amplifier stage, or an associated mast mounted preamplifier, that meets the intermodulation and preamplifier requirements described in Section 4 3.2 Directional Antennas Coded Light Green, Red, Blue, and Violet 3.2.1 Light Green Requirements To be eligible for the light green

30、 color code a directional antenna must have: - an average gain of at least -4.5 dBd on CEA Test Channels 2, 4 and 6 in the same direction, with the gain on any single channel exceeding -6.5 dBd; - an average gain of at least -4.5 dBd on CEA Test Channels 7, 9, 11 and 13 in the same direction, with t

31、he gain on any single channel exceeding -6.5 dBd; CEA2028-B - an average gain of at least -4.5 dBd on CEA Test Channels 14, 20, 26, 32, 38, 44, and 50 in the same direction, with the gain on any single channel exceeding -6.5 dBd; - an average half power beam width of 75 (with an allowance for +5/-an

32、y on any single test channel) or less on CEA Test Channels 7, 9, 11, 13, 14, 20, 26, 32, 38, 44, and 50; - an average front to back ratio (gain to null ratio for an electrically steered antenna) of at least 9.0 dB on CEA Test Channels 7, 9, 11 and 13; - an average front to back ratio (gain to null r

33、atio for an electrically steered antenna) of at least 10.0 dB on CEA Test Channels 14, 20, 26, 32, 38, 44, and 50 (with an allowance for +any dB/-2dB on any single test channel); and - a built in active amplifier stage, or an associated antenna mounted preamplifier, that meets the intermodulation an

34、d preamplifier requirements described in Section 4 3.2.2 Red Requirements To be eligible for the red color code a directional antenna must have: - an average gain of at least -2.5 dBd on CEA Test Channels 2, 4 and 6 in the same direction, with the gain on any single channel exceeding -6.5 dBd; - an

35、average gain of at least 0.0 dBd on CEA Test Channels 7, 9, 11 and 13 in the same direction, with the gain on any single channel exceeding -4.0 dBd; - an average gain of at least 0.0 dBd on CEA Test Channels 14, 20, 26, 32, 38, 44, and 50 in the same direction, with the gain on any single channel ex

36、ceeding -4.0 dBd; - an average half power beam width of 80 (with an allowance for +7/-any on any single test channel) or less on CEA Test Channels 2, 4 and 6; - an average half power beam width of 58 (with an allowance for +5/-any on any single test channel) or less on CEA Test Channels 7, 9, 11, 13

37、, 14, 20, 26, 32, 38, 44, and 50; and - an average front to back ratio (gain to null ratio for an electrically steered antenna) of at least 10.0 dB on CEA Test Channels 2, 4, 6, 7, 9, 11, 13, 14, 20, 26, 32, 38, 44, and 50. 3.2.3 Blue Requirements To be eligible for the blue color code a directional

38、 antenna must meet the same requirements that it would have to meet to be eligible for the red color code and it must include rooftop mounting instructions and an antenna-mounted pre-amplifier that meets the intermodulation and pre-amplifier criteria described in Section 4 5 CEA2028-B 3.2.4 Violet R

39、equirements To be eligible for the violet color code a directional antenna must have: - an average gain of at least 4.0 dBd on CEA Test Channels 2, 4 and 6 in the same direction, with the gain on any single channel exceeding 0.0 dBd; - an average gain of at least 6.0 dBd on CEA Test Channels 7, 9, 1

40、1 and 13 in the same direction, with the gain on any single channel exceeding 2.0 dBd; - an average gain of at least 8.0 dBd on CEA Test Channels 14, 20, 26, 32, 38, 44, and 50 in the same direction, with the gain on any single channel exceeding 4.0 dBd; - an average half power beam width of 80 (wit

41、h an allowance for +7/-any on any single test channel) or less on CEA Test Channels 2, 4 and 6; - an average half power beam width of 58 (with an allowance for +5/-any on any single test channel) or less on CEA Test Channels 7, 9, 11, 13, 14, 20, 26, 32, 38, 44, and 50; - an average front to back ra

42、tio of at least 12.0 dB (with an allowance for +any dB/-2dB on any single test channel) on CEA Test Channels 2, 4, 6, 7, 9, 11 and 13; - an average front to back ratio of at least 14.0 dB (with an allowance for +any dB/-2dB on any single test channel) on CEA Test Channels 14, 20, 26, 32, 38, 44, and

43、 50; and - included rooftop mounting instructions and an antenna-mounted pre-amplifier that meets the intermodulation and pre-amplifier criteria described in Section 4 4 Amplifiers All antenna pre-amplifiers whether built in or installed separately must provide at least: - a minimum of 10 dB of gain

44、 including all test and measurement tolerances on all CEA Test Channels for which antenna and pre-amp operation is claimed; and - a noise figure of 4.5 dB or less on all CEA Test Channels for which antenna and pre-amp operation is claimed. For an antenna to be eligible for the light green, blue or v

45、iolet color codes it must be paired with a pre-amplifier collocated with the antenna and the pre-amplifier must keep all intermodulation and spurious products more than 44 dB below the input test signals. The pre-amplifier must have a stated maximum gain and must test within +/-3dB of its stated max

46、imum gain. Compliance with this section will be tested using the procedure in Section 9 of CEA-774-C, TV Receiving Antenna Performance Presentation and Measurement. For an active antenna (amplified antenna where the amplifier is permanently connect to the antenna) to be color coded yellow, green, or

47、 light green the amplifier portion must keep intermodulation and spurious products more than 44 dB below the input test signals using the testing procedure described in Section 8 of CEA-774-C using the matching network described in CEA2028-B Section 7.4 of CEA-774-C. A deviation of +1 dB/-(any) dB f

48、rom the category specification is allowed in this test. (See CEA-774-C, TV Receiving Antenna Performance Presentation and Measurement, Section 8 and Section 7.4.) Matching Network documentation defined in CEA-774-C Section 7.4 may be requested by CEA should independent compliance testing be necessar

49、y. The documentation should be sufficiently clear that an independent testing facility could fabricate the network and interface it to off the shelf products without consulting the antenna manufacturer. The network described must provide a VSWR of 2:1 or less to both the test equipment and the amplifier under test at the frequencies used below, and be fabricated from readily available components. It is acceptable to employ more than one Matching Network to meet this requirement on different
