1、 Dehumidifiers ANSI/AHAM DH-1-2008 p 2 ANSI/AHAM DH-1-2008 PREFACE The Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers develops standards in accordance with AHAMs “Policy and Procedures Governing Technical Standards“ which states: “AHAM Standards shall be in the best interest, mutually, of consumers who

2、 use appliances, the industries which provide and service appliances, and other interested parties. They shall relate to actual use conditions, be technically and scientifically sound.” Use or observance of AHAM standards is voluntary. AHAM standards are presented to the American National Standards

3、Institute (ANSI) for recognition as American National Standards. This standard was so recognized on May 9, 2008 and bears the American National Standard designation ANSI/AHAM DH-1-2008. This standard contains: Test procedures which may be applied to any brand or model of dehumidifier for measuring p

4、erformance. Results of tests in accordance with this standard may be publicly stated. Recommended levels of performance which are considered important to include but which, necessarily are recommendations only. With regard to safety, AHAM recommends that all appliance products-both major and portabl

5、e-manufactured or marketed in the United States be submitted to an appropriate independent laboratory for inspection and listing in conformance with the safety standards and procedures followed by such laboratories. The relevant standard for dehumidifiers is ANSI/UL 474, Dehumidifiers. AHAM welcomes

6、 comments and suggestions regarding this standard. Any standard may be reviewed and improved as needed. All standards must be updated or reconfirmed at least every five years. Any interested party, at any time, may request a change in an AHAM standard. Such request should be addressed to AHAMs Presi

7、dent, and should be accompanied by a statement of reason for the request and a suggested alternate proposal. 11、his standard establishes a uniform, repeatable procedure for measuring the capacity and energy input of dehumidifiers under specified test conditions. The standard methods and the recommended levels of performance, where they appear, are intended to provide a means to compare and evaluate different

12、brands and models of dehumidifiers regarding characteristics significant to product use. The standard methods and recommended levels of performance, where they appear, are not intended to inhibit improvement and innovation in product testing, design or performance. 2. SCOPE This standard applies to

13、dehumidifiers as defined in 3.1 and includes definitions, performance test procedures, and safety. 3. DEFINITIONS 3.1 Self-Contained, Electrically-operated, Mechanically-Refrigerated Dehumidifier A self-contained, electrically operated, mechanically-refrigerated dehumidifier is an encased assembly c

14、onsisting of: (A) A refrigerated surface (evaporator) on which moisture from the atmosphere condenses. (B) A refrigerating system, including an electric motor. (C) An air circulating fan. (D) A drain arrangement for collecting and/or disposing of the condensate. 3.2 Capacity Capacity is a measure of

15、 the ability of a dehumidifier to remove moisture from its surrounding atmosphere. The capacity of a dehumidifier is the amount of water stated in pints collected per 24 hours of continuous operation when tested in accordance with Section 7.1, Capacity Test. 4. INSTRUMENTATION 4.1 Temperature Measur

16、ing Instruments Temperature measurements shall be made with an instrument or instrument system, including readout devices, meeting an accuracy of 0.1F (0.05C) and a precision (scale division) not greater than 0.2F (0.1C) for analog type instruments and 0.05F (0.02C) for digital type equipment. 4.2 P

17、sychrometric Instruments Use an aspirating type psychrometer air sampler with air flow over the sensing elements between 700 and 1,000 ft/min (3.5 and 5.1 m/s). Shield or position the psychrometer box to minimize radiation affects on the sensing elements. Refer to ASHRAE 41.1 for typical psychromete

18、r box design. p 5 ANSI/AHAM DH-1-2008 4.3 Electrical Measuring Instruments Electricity measurements shall be made with instruments having an accuracy of 0.5% of quantity measured with a minimum measurement increment not greater than: (A) Volts - 2.0 volts (B) Amps - 0.1 amperes (C) Watts - 5 watts (

19、D) Watt-hours - 1 watt-hour 4.4 Time Measuring Instruments Use time measuring instruments which are accurate to 0.1%. 4.5 Weight Measuring Instruments Use weight measuring instruments which are accurate to 0.5%. 4.6. Barometric Pressure Measuring Instrument Use a barometric pressure measuring instru

20、ment which is accurate to 0.3%. 5. TEST PROCEDURE 5.1 General Operate the dehumidifier in accordance with the manufacturers instructions insofar as possible. 5.2 Test Room The test room should be of sufficient volume and the air shall be circulated in such a manner that the normal air circulation of

21、 the dehumidifier under test is not affected. The test room shall be of such dimensions that the distance from any room surface to the air discharge side of the unit is at least 6 ft (1.83 m) and the distance from any other room surface is not less than 3 ft (0.91 m), except for the floor. The test

22、room conditioning equipment shall handle air at a rate of not less than 2 times the dehumidifiers airflow. The air flow approaching the test unit shall be uniform in temperature, humidity and velocity. The air velocity shall not exceed 50 ft/min (0.26 m/s) within 3 ft (0.91 m) of the dehumidifier wi

23、th the unit not operating. 5.3 Positioning of Test Unit Position the dehumidifier in the test room in accordance with Section 5.2, Test Room. Place the air sampling tree 1 ft (0.3 m) from the air inlet side of the dehumidifier, and shielded so that there will be no direct heat radiation to or from t

24、he other objects in the test room. The orientation of the test unit shall be such that the air flow through the test unit is in the same direction as the airflow within the test room. 5.4 Condensate Collection If means for collecting the condensate are provided as a part of the dehumidifier, they ar

25、e to be installed as provided for in normal service. The dehumidifier may be placed on the weight measuring instrument for direct reading of condensate during the test. If there is only provision for draining the condensate away p 6 ANSI/AHAM DH-1-2008 from the cabinet, provide means for collecting

26、the condensate in a substantially-closed vessel to prevent re-evaporation. 5.5 Run-In Period In order to insure a thorough working-in of its mechanical parts, the dehumidifier is to be run-in for the period of time recommended by the manufacturer or not less than 24 hours. The run-in period may be p

29、humidifier: (A) Electrical data as required by Underwriters Laboratories (UL) ANSI/UL 474, Dehumidifiers. (B) The rated capacity in pints per 24 hours. 7. CAPACITY TEST AND ENERGY CONSUMPTION TEST 7.1 Capacity Test 7.1.1 General The capacity of a dehumidifier is determined by the procedure establish

30、ed in this section. Follow the test set-up procedure specified in Section 5. p 7 ANSI/AHAM DH-1-2008 7.1.2 Standard Test Conditions The air entering the dehumidifier is to have the following temperatures: Dry-bulb temperature 80F (26.7C) Wet-bulb temperature 69.6F (20.9C). 7.1.3 Standard Test Voltag

31、e The standard voltage at the service connection for testing capacity of a dehumidifier is 115 or 230 V, whichever is specified on the nameplate. Test at rated frequency. 7.1.4 Psychrometer Placement Place the psychrometer (4.2) 1 ft. (0.30 m) in front of the intake grille. 7.1.5 Data to be Recorded

32、 Record the following data at 30 10 minute intervals or less during the entire test period: (A) Dry-bulb temperature of entering air. (B) Wet-bulb temperature of entering air. (C) Applied voltage. (D) Ampere input. (E) Watts input. 7.1.6 Procedure (A) Operate the dehumidifier continuously until thre

33、e consecutive readings, taken at 30 10 minute intervals, of dry-bulb temperature, wet-bulb temperature and applied voltage are obtained within the test tolerances (5.6). (B) Record the barometric pressure and the watt-hour meter readings (if used) both at the beginning and end of the test period. (C

34、) Then, operate the dehumidifier continuously for a period of 6 hours; i.e., the rating test period. (D) At the termination of the rating test period, record the weight of condensate collected during the test period in pounds and the duration of the test in hours. 7.1.7 Calculation of Test Results T

41、o measure dehumidifier energy consumption (e). 7.2.1.2 The watt-hour meter shall be accurate to the tolerance specified in 4.3 d) and have scale graduations of 1 watt-hour or less. 7.2.1.3 Record the dehumidifiers energy consumption (e) in kilowatt-hours (kWh). 7.2.2 Energy Factor Calculation 7.2.2.

42、1 Calculate the energy factor of the dehumidifier as follows: ()emEFkg= Where: EF = energy factor (in L/kWh); mkg= mass of condensate collected during the capacity test period (7.1), in kg; NOTE Convert the mass of condensate collected from mass in pounds (mlb) to mass in kg (mkg), use the following

PERFORMANCE TESTS 8.1 Maximum Operating Conditions Test It is

44、 recommended that dehumidifiers meet the following maximum operating conditions test. NOTE The voltage ranges chosen are those utilization voltages which can be expected to be encountered in actual application as stated in ANSI C84.1 (latest edition), American National Standard for Electric Power Sy

45、stems and Equipment - Voltage Ratings (60 Hertz). The ambient conditions are those shown by experience to be extreme in areas normally dehumidified. The recommended levels of performance are based on experience and -are those believed necessary to prevent damage to the dehumidifier or service calls

46、due to unacceptable performance when the dehumidifier is operated under these conditions. p 10 ANSI/AHAM DH-1-2008 8.1.1 Temperature Conditions: Dry-bulb temperature 90F (32.2C) Wet-bulb temperature 74.8F (23.8C). 8.1.2 Voltages. Run tests at 92% and 110% of the dehumidifiers rated voltage at the se

47、rvice connection and at rated frequency. 8.1.3 Procedure. The specified temperature conditions are to be established in the test room. Then operate the dehumidifier continuously at 110% rated voltage for 2 hours. At the end of the 2 hour period, cut off all power to the de- humidifier for 2 minutes;

48、 then restore power for 1 hour. Repeat the test at 92% rated voltage. 8.1.4 Recommended Levels of Performance 8.1.4.1 During the tests, it is recommended that the dehumidifier operate without damage to the motors or other electrical parts or wiring due to overheating and without injury to any other

49、component from any operational cause. 8.1.4.2 It is recommended that the dehumidifier motors operate continuously for the first 2 hours of each test without tripping of the motor overload protective devices. 8.1.4.3 It is recommended that the motor overload protective device trip only during the first 5 minutes after the shutdown period of 2 minutes. No motor overload protective device should trip during the remainder of the 1 hour test period. 8.2 Low Temperature Test It is recommended that dehumidifiers mee
