It can be easily cut, routed and shaped to createspecific designs and patterns. In certain instances, t

The materials may find uses in many other applications, such aswindow sills and in plastic plumbing fixture applications. The ICPA develope

This standard and test pro-cedures contained herein deal with the attributes and acceptability of solid surfacematerials. This standard does not address the specific use of these

18、materials inplumbing fixture applications. The ANSI Z124 series of standards applies to plasticplumbing fixtures. Other applications may have other requirements. In the early 1990s, it became apparent from increased consumer awareness and de-mand for solid surface materials that there was an overall

19、need for a performancestandard for this material. In 1993, ICPAs Research and Development Committeebegan work on a Solid Surface Standard in an effort to benchmark a standard ofquality for the industry. The ICPAs Performance Standard for Solid Surface Materials, ICPA SS-1, wasadopted by the ICPA Boar

20、d of Directors in 1997. In 1998, ICPA applied for and re-ceived ANSI accreditation as a standards developer using the canvass method. Acanvass list was developed and a ICPA SS-1 was subjected to a canvass letter balloton March 16, 1999. Four negative ballots and six affirmative ballots with comments

21、were received. A summary of those comments was distributed to all participants inthe canvass on September 10, 1999. The ICPA Research and Development Com-mittee held meetings on September 23, 1999 and March 8, 2000 to review the com-ments received and a meeting June 1, 2000 to review a revised draft

22、 of the proposedstandard. All canvassees were invited to the meetings. The revised draft was dis-tributed for a recirculation ballot on August 28, 2000. The final document and sup-porting materials were forwarded to ANSI for BSR review on March 16, 2001. TheStandard was approved on April 17, 2001.Su
