These criteria were established

17、for the protection of public health and the environment. The physical and performance requirements in this standard apply to in line-valves for use in radiant heating system and hot and cold water cross linked polyethylene (PEX) distribution systems which are compliant with the requirements identifi

18、ed in ASTM F877 for PEX tubing systems. Valves meeting these requirements are rated for a minimum 100 psi at 180 F. This standard is supplemental to ASTM F877 and is intended to identify additional requirements specific for valves. The components covered by this standard are intended for use in resi

19、dential and commercial, hot and cold, potable water distribution systems as well as sealed central heating, including under-floor heating systems. This edition of the Standard contains the following revisions: Issue 3 Language regarding Cv values of valves was revised in 5.4.4. Issue 4 This revision

20、 allows materials not covered in ASTM F877 to be used if they meet the necessary requirements. This Standard was developed by the NSF Joint Committee on Plastics using the consensus process described by the American National Standards Institute. 24、minimum physical and performance requirements for in-line valves used with cross-linked polyethylene (PEX) systems. Establishment of these criteria provide for the protection of public health and the environment. 1.2 Scope This Standard applies to in line-valves for use in radiant heating systems, a

25、nd hot and cold water cross linked polyethylene (PEX) distribution systems which are compliant with the requirements identified in ASTM F877 for PEX tubing systems. Valves meeting these requirements are rated for a minimum 100 psi (0.69 MPa) at 180 F (82 C). This Standard is supplemental to ASTM F87

37、cal meaning are defined here. 3.1 critical dimensions: Dimensions of a product (e.g., pipes and fittings) that directly affect the fit and function, or the capacity of making a sound joint, or both. 3.2 CV: Flow Coefficient The measurement of the flow of a valve in imperial units The volume flow in

39、 component used to join, terminate, or provide changes of direction in a piping system. 3.4 plastic: A material that contains as an essential ingredient one or more organic polymeric substances of large molecular weight, is solid in its finished state, and, at some stage in its manufacture or proces

40、sing into finished articles, can be shaped by flow. 3.5 potable water: Water that is acceptable for drinking, culinary, and domestic purposes and meets the requirements of the health authority having jurisdiction. 3.6 valve: A device used to regulate the flow of liquids or gasses. 3.7 virgin materia

41、l: A material in the form of pellets, granules, powder, floc, or liquid that has not been subjected to use or processing other than that required for its initial manufacture. 4 Material requirements 4.1 Materials identified below and that meet the minimum requirements are acceptable for use in produ

42、cing valves which comply with the minimum requirements of this standard. 4.2 Valves shall be made of materials as specified in their respective applicable nationally recognized standards specification as mentioned in section 2 normative references. 4.3 Valves bodies made from copper alloys containin

43、g more than 15% zinc by weight and intended for use in potable water systems shall meet the Dezincification and Stress Corrosion Cracking Resistance requirements of NSF/ANSI 14. 4.4 Plastic (non-metal) materials for valves Materials for the valve body shall be produced from virgin plastics or clean

44、rework materials. The use of clean, rework material of the same formulation and physical properties from the same manufacturer is acceptable provided the finished products meet the requirements of this standard. Materials in the production of valves shall be manufactured in such a way as to prevent

45、contamination. 5 Requirements 5.1 Pressure rating Valves shall have a hydrostatic pressure rating of 100 psi (0.69 MPa) at 180F (82 C). 5.2 Dimensional requirements of connections Connections shall comply with at least one of the following standards: ASTM D2846.
