6、byinformation technology and telecommunications equipment. Hitherto, a wide variety of methods have been appliedby individual manufacturers and users to satisfy particular equipment or application needs. These diverse practiceshave, in many cases, made comparison of noise emission difficult. This Na

7、tionally Adopted International Standardsimplifies such comparisons and is the basis for the declaration of the noise emission levels of informationtechnology and telecommunications equipment.This Standard is the National Adoption of ISO 7779: 1999 and its amendment ISO 7779: 1999/FDAM 1.Copyright Ac

9、stics, S2 on Mechanical Vibration and Shock, S3 on Bioacoustics, and S12 on Noise. Thesecommittees have wide representation from the technical community (manufacturers, consumers, tradeassociations, general interest, and government representatives). The standards are published by theAcoustical Socie

10、ty of America through the American Institute of Physics as American National Standardsafter approval by their respective standards committees and the American National Standards Institute.These standards are developed and published as a public service to provide standards useful to the public,indust

11、ry, and consumers, and to Federal, State and local governments.Each of the Accredited Standards Committees operating in accordance with procedures approved byAmerican National Standards Institute (ANSI) is responsible for developing, voting upon, and maintaining orrevising its own standards. The ASA

12、 Standards Secretariat administers committee organization and activity,and provides liaison between the Accredited Standards Committees and ANSI. After the standards have beenproduced and adopted by the Accredited Standards Committees, and approved as American NationalStandards by ANSI, the ASA Stan

13、dards Secretariat arranges for their publication and distribution.An American National Standard implies a consensus of those substantially concerned with its scope andprovisions. Consensus is established when, in the judgment of the ANSI Board of Standards Review,substantial agreement has been reach

14、ed by directly and materially affected interests. Substantial agreementmeans much more than a simple majority, but not necessarily unanimity. Consensus requires that all viewsand objections be considered, and that a concerted effort be made toward their resolution.The use of an American National Sta

15、ndard is completely voluntary.
