This FOTP is part of the series of test procedures in

21、cluded within Recommended Standard EIA/TIA-455. 1. INTRODUCTION 1.1 Intent This procedure is intended for exposing a specimen to the environmental condition of extended low temperature (cold). It is not intended for exposing a specimen to the environmental condition of high temperature or of tempera

22、ture variation. When high temperature is of interest, use FOTP-4. When temperature variations are of interest, use FOTP-3. 1.2 Description The specimen is placed in a chamber at ambient temperature. The chamber temperature is then lowered to the test temperature at a rate not to exceed l0C per minut

23、e and allowed to remain at that temperature for the specified duration. The chamber temperature is then raised to ambient and the specimen is allowed to attain ambient temperature equilibrium before final measurements are made. 1.3 Alternative Procedures This test procedure is an alternative procedu

APPARATUS The apparatus consists of a chamber capable of housing the specimen and of allowing a

29、ccess for measurement during conditioning, if specified. It must be capable of maintaining the specified temperature within the specified tolerances. Forced air circulation may be used to maintain homogeneous conditions. To limit radiation problems, the temperature of the chamber walls, after temper

30、ature stability is reached, shall not differ by more than 8% of the specified ambient temperature. This requirement applies to all chamber walls and the specimen(s) shall not iiseeii heating or cooling elements which do not comply with this requirement. Additional apparatus may be necessary to perfo

31、rm the measurements specified by the Detail Specification. If so, the Detail Specification shall (a) specify the apparatus directly, (b) make reference to an applicable FOTP, or (c) include other appropriate reference (s) . 4. SAMPLING AND SPECIMENS 4.1 Sampling. Unless otherwise specified in the De

32、tail Specification, select the test specimens randomly from the lot (s) being tested and according to the schedule in the Detail Specification. 4.2 Specimens. The Detail Specification shall define the specimen. 5. PROCEDURE 5.1 Preconditioning Precondition the specimen as required by the Detail Spec

33、ification. 5.2 Initial Measurements Take initial measurements as required by the Detail Specification 5.3 Severity The severity of the test is determined by the combination of the temperature and the duration of exposure. 3 Copyright Telecommunications Industry Association Provided by IHS under lice

35、 Specified 2 16 72 96 As Specified 5.4 Conditioning 5.4.1 Stabilize the chamber and the specimen to standard laboratory conditions in accordance with EIA/TIA-455-A, Section 6 (23 f 5 OC, 20 to 70% relative humidity, and site ambient atmospheric pressure). 5.4.2 Place the specimen in the chamber in i

36、ts normal operating position (including hookups to peripheral equipment when required). 5.4.3 Adjust the chamber temperature to the specified severity. The rate of change of temperature within the chamber shall not exceed l0C per minute, averaged over a maximum period of 5 minutes. 5.4.4 Allow the s

37、pecimen to reach temperature stability and maintain the temperature for the duration severity specified in the Detail Specification. 5.4.5 At the completion of the duration severity, allow the specimen to remain in the chamber while the temperature is gradually raised to standard laboratory conditio

39、te, averaged over a maximum period of 5 minutes. 5.4.6 The Detail Specification may call for measurements during conditioning. If such measurements are required, the Detail Specification shall specify the measurements to be made and when to take them. Do not remove the specimen(s) from the chamber w

40、hen taking these measurements. 5.5 Recovery 5.5.1 Remove water droplets by shaking the specimen or by using a blast of air at laboratory temperature for a short time. 5.5.2 Allow the specimen to remain under standard atmospheric conditions (5.4.1) for a period of not less than 1 hour. 5.5.3 The Deta

41、il Specification may call for measurements during recovery. If such measurements are required, the Detail Specification shall specify the measurements to be made and when to make them. 5.6 Final Measurements Take final measurements as required by the Detail Specification. 6. CALCULATIONS OR INTERPRE

42、TATION OF RESULTS This Section is not applicable to this procedure. 7. DOCUMENTATION 7.1 As a minimum, the documentation shall provide the following information: 7.1.1 Title of test and date. 7.1.2 Specimen description including the type of test fiber. The description shall contain the specimen vari

43、ant identification number, when applicable. 7.1.3 The apparatus used and the date of latest calibration. 7.1.4 All applicable test details (see Section 8). 7.1.5 All measurement values and observations.
