15、 withstand bending and flexing stresses resulting from loads as might be experienced during installation and service conditions. 1.2 Typical indications of damage resulting from this test may be: a) Loss or degradation of optical transmittance ability (both multimode and single-mode applications). b

16、) Decrease in return loss (increase in reflectance) (single-mode applications only). c) Loss of seal integrity at the device interface. d) Broken parts, accessories, or cable fibers. e) Breakage, chipping or scratching of the interface. Test equipment similar to that shown in either Figure 1 or Figure 2, capable of 3.1.1

Inspection equipment (such as magnifiers, per FOTP-13) for examining cable, 3.4 Equipment to measure optical transmittanc

28、e through the cable before and after testing in accordance with FOTP-20. If the stability of the source and detector is at least one order of magnitude better than the allowable change in the connecting device in the test, a reference specimen or monitor fiber is not required. Otherwise a monitor fi

29、ber will be required. 4 Sampling and specimens 4.1 Test sample Each test specimen shall consist of a connector, mated connector pair, or splice, with each test end terminated to a i-1Om (3 to 33ft.) length of fiber optic cable, unless otherwise specified in the Detail Specification. The cable ends n

30、ot under test shall be terminated or prepared to interface with the applicable measurement equipment for initial and after test measurements, as required by the Detail Specification. 5 Procedures 5.1 Unless otherwise specified in the Detail Specification, the fiber optic interconnecting device shall

31、 be preconditioned for 48 hours at standard atmospheric conditions as outlined in EIA/TIA-455-A, Sec. 6 (23+ 5OC, 20 to 70% Relative Humidity and site ambient pressure; for U.S Militasr applications 2% 5C 45 to 75% Relative Humidity and 650 to 800mm Hg pressure). 5.2 would be considered degraded. 32、place the sample if degradation is detected. Visually inspect the sample in accordance with FOTP-I3 for any attribute which 5.3 FOTP-20 as applicable, to verify cable/connector assembly suitability for testing. Baseline optical transmittance measurements shall be made in accordance with NOTE 1 If ne

34、 327 W TINEIA-455-I B NOTE 2 For single-mode applications it may be desirable to make both optical transmittance measurements and return loss measurements as part of the test procedure. Return loss measurements should be made in accordance with FOTP-107 as applicable. 5.4 The test specimen shall be

35、placed in the flex cycling apparatus (See Figure 1 or 2) and the initial optical transmittance measurements made in accordance with FOTP- 20. This initial reading should be made prior to adding the load as specified in Table I. 5.5 With the appropriate load added (See Table I), the optical transmitt

36、ance of the cablekonnector lead assembly shall be measured to ensure fixturing and cable clamping have not affected the cables optical transmittance beyond acceptable limits as specified in the Sectional or Detail Specification. 5.6 of 30 cycles per minute unless otherwise specified. The cycling app

37、aratus shall be operated for 10 cycles at a maximumcycling rate 5.7 The optical transmittance of the specimen under test shall be verified before and after exposure to the required number of cycles or at regular intervals as dictated in the Detail Specification. Any deviation in optical transmittanc

38、e from the value recorded in paragraph 5.4 shall be considered to be caused by variations in the test specimen. 5.8 transmittance measurement as described in FOTP-20. At the end of the flex cycle, remove the load and take the final optical NOTE - This final measurement is taken with the load removed

39、 but with the cable/connector assembly still mounted on the test apparatus. 5.9 The test specimen shall be removed from the apparatus and visual inspection made in accordance with FOTP-13 (3X to 5X magnification). Examine samples for evidence of any physical degradation (Loss of seal integrity, brok

Photographs and/or sketches may be included to further clarify descriptions and observations. 7.1.5 Test sample preparation procedure used. 7.2 United States military applications require that the following information also be r

45、eported for each test. For other (nonmilitary) applications, this information need not be reported, but shall be available for review upon request: 7.2.1 Test procedure used, including test method, weights used, number of cycles, cycling rate and mandrel diameter. 7.3 only: The following information
