The procedures standardize the methods of establishing such measurements as attenuation and insertion loss for the purpose of establishing conformance to individual component requirements. Unless otherwise indicated, the procedures are generally applicable to both single fiber and mult

By appropriate direction of the applicable Detail Specification, the test procedures of the published FOTPs may be modified to suit special needs. 4.1 Criteria for FOTPs A fiber optic test procedure (FOTP) is a test or measurement of an attribute that may be specified o

Before a committee adopts an FOTP, it should determine that: - The attribute is important to the functional use of the component. - The test or measurement procedure is capable of reasonably consistent interpretation. - The test or measurement procedure is sufficiently repro

When a test or attribute is perceived to have value beyond component specification yet does not satisfy the above requirements, an informative test method (ITM) following the TSB-62 guideline may be considered. An ITM can be written for some of th

27、some cases, multiple test methods are considered equivalent for the measurement of a given attribute. When there are multiple methods for an attribute, the following actions are recommended: - Consolidate the methods into one FOTP. - Designate one of the methods as the Reference Test Method (RTM) fo

28、r use in resolving disputes. Take the following into consideration when choosing a specific RTM: - The degree to which the method relates to the definition of the attribute. - The accuracy of the (calibrated) method - The reproducibility (both precision and interlab) of the method. - Practical use o

29、f the method. - Harmonization with international standards Note: The RTM need not be the method that is used to generate cal i bration artifacts. If needed, a procedure from Annex B may be used to establish the empirical equivalence of measurement methods. 5 Copyright Electronic Industries Alliance
