ABBREVIATIONS AND ACRONYMS For the purposes of this Standard, the following abbreviations and acronyms apply. 1. CPE Customer Premises Equipment 2. OSI Open Switch Interval 3. RF Radio Frequency

40、4. VMWI Visual Message Waiting Indicator 3.2. DEFINITIONS For the purposes of this Standard, the following definitions apply. Active State The CPE is off-hook and the handset Voice-Path is active. Basic Functionality CPEs ability to perform Send, Receive, Dialing, Alerting, etc. Line Idle A state of

41、 the telephone line when all connected CPE are on-hook. Line In-Use A state of the telephone line when at least one CPE is off-hook. Line State The condition of the Tip and Ring interface. It can be either In-Use or Idle. Listening-Path The path of electrical signals at Tip and Ring to acoustic sign

42、als at the CPE receiver/speaker. Off-Hook The state of the CPE when the hook-switch is closed. This refers to the state of a particular CPE rather than the line state. On-Hook The state of the CPE when the hook-switch is open. This refers to the state of a particular CPE rather than the line state.

43、ON Key General term for any button that allows the handset to place the CPE in the off-hook state. OFF Key General term for any button that allows the handset to place the CPE in the on-hook state. OSI The temporary removal of dc battery voltage between Tip and Ring for a duration of 10 ms to 350 ms

44、. Standby State The CPE is on-hook and the handset is not on the charger. No features (e.g. intercom) or modes (e.g. call log review) are active in the Standby State. Talking-Path The path of acoustic signals at the CPE microphone to electrical signals at Tip and Ring. Timed Disconnect Signal A DC s

45、ignal generated by the network interface equipment characterized by removal of the dc voltage between Tip and Ring for a duration of 600 ms to 1000 ms.
