、UCTION OR DISTRIBUTION WITHOUT PERMISSION FROM UL INTRODUCTION 1 Scope 1.1 These requirements apply to folding rollaway tables. The folding tables may have integral benches or stool seating. 1.2 These requirements do not apply to any electrical circuitry integral to or provided with a folding rollaw

、ay table. The requirements of the standard covering the intended electrical product to be used with a folding rollaway table shall be applicable to any electrical circuits in the folding rollaway table. Electrical devices shall comply with the requirements for such devices. For example, attachment p

、lugs and receptacles shall comply with the requirements in the Standard for Attachment Plugs and Receptacles, UL 498. Where the requirements of more than one standard are applicable, the most severe requirements shall apply. 2 Units of Measurement 2.1 Values stated without parentheses are the requir

、ement. Values in parentheses are explanatory or approximate information. 3 Undated References 3.1 Any undated reference to a code or standard appearing in the requirements of this standard shall be interpreted as referring to the latest edition of that code or standard. 4 Terminology 4.1 The phrase

、table or tables , where used in this Standard, generally references any product considered under the scope of these requirements. CONSTRUCTION 5 General 5.1 A folding rollaway table shall be constructed so that: a) User assembly and normal use do not result in a risk of re or injury to persons; and

、b) The materials and components are used within their mechanical and ammability limits. 5.2 Sharp edges shall not be accessible during user assembly or normal use. An accessible edge shall be smooth and well rounded to reduce the risk of a cut-type injury when contacted during user assembly or norma

、ammability classication of HB. The ammability classication is to be determined by tests described in the Standard for Tests for Flammability of Plastic Materials for Parts in Devices and Appliances, UL 94. A material classied using 1/8-inch (3.2-mm) thick bar specimens is not prohibited from being u

、sed in thicknesses less than 1/8 inch in the folding rollaway table. Exception: The following materials are exempt from the requirements of 6.1: a) Wheels, casters, and caster inserts. b) External accessories that are not permanently attached to the folding rollaway table, such as a screwdriver, con

、tainer of lubricating oil, and similar accessories. c) Small parts that satisfy all of the following: 1) The maximum volume does not exceed 0.122 inch 3 (2 cm 3 ); and 2) The maximum dimension does not exceed 1.18 inches (3 cm). d) Polymeric material of maximum 0.010 inch (0.254 mm) thickness. 26、RMANCE 7 Tip Over Test 7.1 When the folding rollaway table is folded in the upright storage position a force shall be applied at a position 5 ft. (1.52 m) above the oor or at the topmost edge, whichever is lower. The minimum force to tip the table over shall be one-fth of the total weight of the tab

、le or 56 lb (25.4 kg), whichever is less. Exception: Folding rollaway tables intended to be secured to the oor, walls or other xed structural parts of a building are not required to comply with this requirement. 7.2 The test is to be conducted on a fully assembled table including benches, seats, sto

、ols, backrests, and other table parts, under the following conditions: a) With the legs, wheels, casters, or similar means of support arranged in the position most likely to result in tip-over such as turning the caster so that the caster axle is under the table frame versus outside of the frame are

、a. b) With the legs, wheels, casters, or similar means of support blocked by means of a steel bar 1/4 inch (6.4 mm) thick, 1 inch (25.4 mm) wide, that extends 2 inches (50.8 mm) beyond each leg and/or caster placed under the wheel. The steel bar shall be placed under one or more wheels to prevent th

、e table from rolling. c) When the folding rollaway table is provided with a locking means to keep it folded in the storage or transport position and the lock can be disengaged without the use of tools to close the table tighter, the lock shall be disengaged and the table shall be closed to its tight

、est upright position possible when evaluated. 36、he table tighter, the lock shall be disengaged and the table shall be closed to its tightest upright position possible when evaluated. 9 Endurance Test 9.1 A sample of the fully assembled folding table including benches, seats, stools, backrests, and other table parts is to be subjected to 6000 cycl

、es of normal operation of the hinge and locking mechanism. The hinge and lock mechanism shall remain operable at the conclusion of the cycling. 9.2 The folding table is to be assembled and operated in accordance with the manufacturers instructions. 9.3 The table is to be in the fully opened position

、 and all locks, if provided, fully engaged. The locks are to be unlocked and the folding rollaway table is to be folded into the upright storage position. If a lock is provided to keep the table in the folded position, it is to be fully engaged. The locks are to then to be unlocked and the folding r

、ollaway table is to be unfolded and placed into the open position. This is one cycle. 9.4 The cycle test may be conducted manually or automated. 40、M UL 10 Load Stability Test 10.1 A sample of each type of fully assembled table is to be subjected to a 300-lb (136-kg) load concentrated in a 1 square ft (0.09 square m) area of the table. The load is to be moved slowly over the entire surface of the table. The table shall not overturn or have any

、visible damage to the structure. 11 Bench Strength Test 11.1 When a table is provided with benches, each size, style and type of bench is to be subjected to a distributed load. The load will be based on 250-lb (114-kg) load times the number of people intended to t on each bench. The bench shall with

、stand the load without visible damage for one minute. 12 Seat Strength Test 12.1 When a table is provided with seats, each size, style and type of seat is to be subjected to a 250-lb (114-kg) distributed load. The seat shall withstand the load without visible damage for one minute. 13 Wheel, Roller,

、 or Caster Securement Test 13.1 A wheel, roller, or caster shall be capable of withstanding a 5-lbf (22-N) pull applied as described in 13.2. 13.2 The 5-lbf (22-N) pull is to be applied by a weight or a steady pull for a period of 1 minute in any direction permitted by the construction of the parts.

、 The force is to be applied with the specimen at room temperature. The wheel, roller, or caster shall not pull free from its securing means. 14 Radiant Panel Flame Spread Test 14.1 Test criteria 14.1.1 The ame spread index of a table top and bench material shall be determined in accordance with the

、Standard Test Method for Surface Flammability of Materials Using a Radiant Heat Energy Source, ASTM E162. 14.1.2 The ame spread index shall be less than 200. 14.1.3 This method provides a laboratory test procedure for measuring and comparing the surface ammability of materials when exposed to a pres

Specimens in intermediate thicknesses are also to be provided and shall be tested when the results obt

、ained on the minimum or maximum thicknesses indicate inconsistent test results. 14.2.2 Material Ranges When a material is to be considered in a range of colors, densities, melt ows, or reinforcement, four specimens representing these ranges are also to be provided. 14.2.3 Four specimens in the natur

、al and in the most heavily pigmented dark color are to be provided and considered representative of the color range, when the burning characteristics are essentially the same. In addition, a set of specimens is to be provided in the heaviest organic pigment loading, unless the most heavily pigmented dark color includes the highest organic pigment level. When certain color pigments (for example, red, yellow, or other color types) are known to affect ammability characteristics, they are also to be provided. 1
