12、merican National Standard ANSI Z80.31-2012.)The purchasers and users of single-vision ready-to-wear near-vision spectacles needto be assured of certain minimum levels of performance and quality in these prod-ucts. These are either implicit expectations in the product performance, or safety.The purch

13、aser of the product does not ordinarily have the means to properly assessthese characteristics. In order to accomplish these goals, it is necessary to establishcommonly accepted definitions, equations, sources, and methodology so that manu-facturers can produce products to meet the standard.This Ame

14、rican National Standard specifies impact-resistant characteristics; cosmet-ic, refractive properties of lenses; and the flammability of frames and lenses. Cosmet-ic, refractive, and frame properties specified herein are intended as guidelines, andtherefore they are subject to revision since there is

15、 a need to study further the validityof these property specifications as related to actual normal use requirements.The Z80.31 working group is under the subcommittee SC2 of Z80, which also re-views Z80.3, Nonprescription Sunglass and Fashion Eyewear Requirements, andwas organized in December 1970 an

16、d had its first meeting on January 7, 1971. Thecurrent Chair of the committee is Kenneth L. Frederick, Technical Director of theSunglass Association of America. He has been chair since 2004. The committee usu-ally meets formally twice per calendar year, and the members review material byemail, phone

17、, or fax throughout the year. Working groups may be formed to investi-gate specific projects, and a working group for single-vision ready-to-wear near-vi-sion spectacles was formed in 2010 and developed this standard, Z80.31-2012.This standard contains one annex, which is informative and is not part

18、 of this stan-dard. Suggestions for improvement of this standard will be welcome. They should besent to the Vision Council, 225 Reinekers Lane Suite 700, Alexandria, VA 22314.This standard was processed and approved for submittal to ANSI by the AccreditedStandards Committee on Ophthalmic Standards,

This test block is app

22、licable to the majority of ophthalmic lenses. However, if any diameter of the edged lens is less than 32 mm (1-1/4 in), a substitute support may be used the outside diameter of which is equal to or less than the smallest diameter of the edged lens. The wall thickness of the neoprene gasket is a nomi

The material is cold-rolled steel (ground stock), American Iron and Steel Institute No. C1018 or the equivalent. Normal machine-shop tolerances shall apply to all dimensions. A base of alternate design may be used

24、provided that it is a rigid iron or steel member and that the total weight of the member and rigidly attached fixtures is not less than 12.25 kg (27 lb). 25、rene gasket shall have a durometer hardness of 40 + 5 Shore A, as determined by ASTM D2240-2003; a minimum tensile strength of 8.274 kPa (1200 psi) as determined by ASTM D412-2002; and a minimum ultimate elongation of 400%, as determined by ASTM D412-2002. The gasket shall be securely bonded to the support tube. The test block shall be made of cold-rolled steel, American Iron and Steel Institute No. C1018, or the equivalent. One is required for each shape and size of lens. Normal machine-shop tolerances shall apply to all dimensions. Figure A.3 Lens on block
