2、authorized the use of this commercial item description in preference to Federal Specificatioc ZZ-B-530. 1. CLASSIFICATION 1.1 Classification. This commercial item description covers rubber boots in whole sizes 5 through 15 in the following types: Type I - Knee length Type II - Hip length 2. SALIENT

3、CHARACTERISTICS 2.1 Description. The boots shall be heavy duty vulcanized rubber boots made over the manufacturers regular boot lasts using rubber and rubber/cotton cloth parts in accordance with the manufacturers standard practice. TvDe II boots - shall have an adjustable top strap and knee patch.

4、2.2 Dimensions. For type I boots, the height (inside) at the back and front shall be not less than 14-1/2 inches. (inside) shall be not less than 34 inches and the crotch height (inside) shall be not less than 29 inches. boot at the crotch shall not be less than 23 inches. The circumference at the c

5、alf of the type I and II boot lasts shall be not less than 16 inches for sizes 5, 6, and 7; 16-1/2 inches for sizes 8 and 9; 17 inches for sizes 10 and 11; and 18 inches for sizes 12 through 15, For type II boots, the extreme height The girth measured around the inside of the type II Beneficial comm

8、nd reinforcement strips necessary to build a boot. The cotton cloth shall be either woven or knitted and 2,: Rubber parts. The rubber parts shall be made from upper compound or outsole and heel compound. The leg cover rubber shall be calendered from upper compound and shall be a minimum of 0.025 inc

9、h thick, Other gum rubber upper parts such as vamp, counter, and reinforcement strips shall be of appropriate thickness for the intended use. The outsole shall be cleated or heavily knurled and shall be a minimum of 0.285 inch at the ball, The heel shall be a minimum of 9/16 inch at the thinnest par

10、t and shall carry the manufacturers standard tread design. The strap shall be either a double cotton cloth frictioned on both sides and coated with upper compound or a rubber strap not less

13、than 0,090 inch thick. The strap shall be not less than 9-1/2 inches long and 5/8 inch wide. The loop at the top of the strap shall be large enough to permit easy passage and secure holding over a 2-inch belt. The strap buckle shall be made of brass, aluminum, or steel, and shall be of the slide typ

14、e suitable for the intended purpose, Brass buckles shall be nickel plated; aluminum buckles shall be anodized with a coat of black enamel; and steel buckles shall be either nickel plated or have baked enamel finish. The strap slot shall be not less than 5/8 inch wide and the stay slot shall be not l

The boots should be black in color, although other colors may be specified (see 5.21, and have a natural heater or dull lacquer finish. 2.8 Vulcanization. watertight compact unit. The boots shall be vulcanized under pressure to insure a 2.9 Leakage. The boots shall show no evide

17、nce of leakage when subjected to compressed air at 1 pound per square inch pressure while immersed in a tank of water to within 3 inches of the top of the boot. 2.10 Marking. outsole in the shank, or a manufacturers label shall be used. The size shall be legibly incised on the outsole in the shank,

18、or the size may be incised on a label and the label permanently vulcanized to the boot. The manufacturers name or trademark shall be embossed on the 3, QUALITY ASSURANCE 3.1 Certification. The contractor shall certify and maintain substantiating evidence that the product offered meets the salient ch

19、aracteristics and requirements of this Commercial Item Description, and that the product conforms to the producers own drawings, specifications, standards, quality assurance practices, and the leakage requirements stated herein. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance

20、prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract, 3.2 Visual examination. The boots shall be examined in accordance with MIL-STD-105 for conformance to design, material and construction requirements; any component full, tight or twisted; an

21、y open seam, hole, cut or tear; any spot or stain clearly noticeable; not the color specified in the contract or purchase order. The inspection level shall be II, and the acceptable quality level (AQL), expressed in terms of defects per hundred units, shall be 6.5. The lot size shall be expressed in

22、 units of parts of boots. one pair of boots. The sample unit shall be 3.3 Dimensional examination. defects. The lot size shall be expressed in units of pairs of boots. The sample unit shall be one pair of boots. The inspection level shall be S-3, and the AQL, expressed in terms of defects per hundre

Each mated pair of boots of one type only, shall be secured together with cotton tape or twine to prevent separation. 4.2 Packing. Seven pairs of type I, or six pairs of type II boots of one size only, shall b

26、e packed in a fiberboard shipping container conforming to style RSC-L, type CF (variety SW) or SF, class domestic, grade 275 of PPP-B-636. The inside of each fiberboard container shall be fitted with a box liner conforming to type CF class domestic variety DW, grade 275 of PPP-B-636. Prior to placin

27、g each pair of hip boots in the container, the tops shall be folded over so that the packing can be accomplished as specified. The boots shall be packed within a shipping container so that the first pair of boots has the sole of one boot against one end panel and the side of the sole of the second b

28、oot resting on the ankle of the first boot. The remaining pairs of boots shall then be placed in the container in the same manner with every other pair reversed. Inside dimensions of each container shall approximate 23-1/2 inches in length, 15 inches in width, and 15 inches in depth. Approximate dim

29、ensions are furnished as a guide only, A sheet of 30 pound minimum basis weight kraft paper conforming to A-A-203 shall be used to completely separate each pair of boots from the others. Each container shall be closed in accordance with method II as specified in the appendix of PPP-B-636, 4.3 Pallet

30、ization. When specified (see 5.2), boots, packed as specified in 4.2, shall bepalletized on a 4-way entry pallet in accordance with load type Ia of MIL-STD-147, Pallet type shall be type I (4-way entry), type IV, or type V in accordance with MIL-STD-147. Pallets shall be fabricated from wood groups

31、I, II, III, or IV of MIL-STD-731. Each prepared load shall be bonded with primary or secondary straps in accordance with bonding means C and D or film bonding means F or G, Pallet pattern shall be number 3 in accordance with the appendix of MIL-STD-147. Interlocking of loads shall be affected by rev

32、ersing the pattern of each course. 4.4 Marking. In addition to any special marking required by the contract or purchase order, shipping containers and palletized unit loads shall be marked in accordance with MIL-STD-129. 5. NOTES 5.1 Intended use. The boots are intended for use as waterproof boots.
