CLASSIFICATION 1.1 Classification.
2、 This commercial item description covers wired snow anchors of the following sizes: Size 1 - 8-1/2 inches long, 5-1/2 inches fluted anchor portion. Size 2 - 7-1/2 inches long, 10-1/2 inches fluted anchor portion. 2. S4LIENT CHARACTERISTICS 2.1 Design and construction. The fluted anchor portion of th
3、e snow anchors shall be 6061-T6 aluminum, The wire portion shall be galvanized steel or stainless steel. The cable shall be joined to itself by the use of swages. Each item shall be stamped with the manufacturers identification symbol, 2.2 as specified by size. Dimensions. The snow wired anchors sha
4、ll conform to the following dimensions 2.2.1 Size 1. Wired anchor shall have outside dimensions of 8-1/2 + 1/2 inches by 5-1/2 + 1/2 inches on the fluted anchor portion. The wire portion shall have a wire diameter of 0.125 inches + 0.014 inches, -0 inch. The minimum breaking strength of the swaged w
5、ire cable shall be 600 Kg. The length of the outstretched wire cable assembly shall be 2 feet +3 inches, -0 inch. The.maximum weight shall be 252 grams. The contractor shall certify, and maintain substantiating evidence, that the product offered meets the salient characteristics and requir
9、ements of this Commercial Item Description, and that the product conforms to the producers own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provi
10、ded for under the provisions of the contract. 3.2 Visual examination. Each lot of anchors shall be inspected in accordance with MIL-STD-105. The inspection level shall be II and the acceptable quality level (AQL), expressed in terms of defects per hundred units, shall be 4.0. The lot size shall be e
11、xpressed in units of anchors. The sample unit shall be one anchor. The anchors shall be examined for the defects listed below: Finish not smooth and adherent; not free of burrs, rough spots, sharp edges, slivers, flat areas or projections; any component missing or not specified type; any component f
12、ractured, split, dented, bowed, malformed, damaged or loose; signs of strand breakage, “kinks“ or unusual wear, all bends in the wire shall not smooth and continuous.; markings in wrong location, incomplete, illegible, incomplete, or not as specified. 3.3 Dimensional examination. The anchors shall b
13、e examined without damaging or disassembling the anchors. Any dimension not within the specified tolerances shall be classified as a defect. The lot size shall be expressed in units of anchors. The sample unit shall be one anchor. The inspection level shall be S-3 and the AQL, expressed in terms of
14、defects per hundred units, shall be 2.5. 3.4 Testing. Every wired snow anchor shall be pull tested to 60 percent of its minimum breaking strength. One percent of the inspection lot, but no less than two anchors from each inspection lot, shall be tested to 100 percent of the minimum breaking strength
15、 without breaking, Any breaks in the wire strands, slippage, of wire through the swage or permanent deformation at 60 percent, or breaking of the wire at 100 percent, shall constitute failure of the test. This test is to be performed at room temperature. Any industrial testing machine may be used to

Two anchors each of one size shall be packed in an intermediate box. The intermediate box shall be snug-fitting and
17、fabricated from corrugated fiberboard. 4.2 Packing. Thirty snow anchors of one size packaged as specified, shall be packed in a snug-fitting corrugated fiberboard shipping container conforming to RSC, type CF, class domestic, grade-275 of PPP-B-636. The shipping container shall be completely filled
18、with no voids and of a size that can be palletized in accordance with MIL-STD-147. Each shipping container shall be closed in accordance with the appendix of PPP-B-636. 4.3 Palletization. When specified (see 5.2), anchors, packed as specified, shall be palletized on a 4-way entry pallet in accordanc
19、e with load type Ia of MIL-STD- 147. Each prepared load shall be bonded with primary and secondary straps in accordance with bonding means C and D, or film bonding means F or G, in accofdance with MIL-STD-147. 4.4 purchase order, intermediate boxes, shipping containers and palletized unit loads shal
