1、. _h _- - COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION A-A-501 85 November 15, 1988 CLOTH, BATISTE, COTTON, POLISHING The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description in preference to MIL-C-40129(GL) 1. CLASSIFICATION 1.1 Class. The cloth shall be of one type and the fol

2、lowing classes, as specified (see 5 2). Class 1 - Rolls Class 2 - Cut pieces 2. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS 2.1 General. The cloth shall be a 100 percent cotton plain weave using single ply yarns. The cloth shall be bleached. The width shall be a minimum of 39-1/2 inches and shall be the minimum accepta

3、ble width inclusive of the selvage when fly-shuttle looms or shuttleless looms with tuck-in selvages are used. For all other shuttleless looms, the width measurement shall be made between the last warp yarn on each side excluding the protruding fringe(s). 2.2 Physical requirements. The finished clot

Unless otherwise specified (see 5.2), the class 1 cloth shall be in one continuous length of not less than 50 yards and shall be put up on rolls as specified in 4.1.1. inch pieces with the four edges pinked. Pinking of selvage edge is not required. The measurement is to be f

8、rom the extreme outside point on one side to the opposing indentation on the other side. The class 2 cloth shall be cut into 4 2 1/4 by 6 2 1/4 3, QUALITY ASSURANCE 3.1 Certification. The contractor shall certify that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of the description and confo

9、rms to the pro- ducers own drawings, specifications, standards and quality assurance practices, When specific quality assurance provisions are specified for any commercial characteristic, the contractor shall furnish data resulting from inspection conducted in accordance with the specific quality as

10、surance provisions. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract. 4. PACKAGING 4.1.1 Class 1. The class 1 cloth shall be rolled on a convolute or spiral- wound chipb

11、oard tube. The tube shall have a smooth finish surface that will prevent the fibers of the chipboard from transferring to the cloth. Each roll of cloth, put-up as specified in 2.3, shall be wrapped with 60 pound minimum basis weight kraft paper in such a way that the paper will encircle the roll at

12、least once with a minimum overlap of 3 inches, and the width of the paper will be sufficient to fold over and protect the ends of the roll. Gummed paper tape, with a minimum width of 2-1/2 inches, shall be applied to the overlap seam the full length of the roll and across each end. 4.1.2 Class 2. On

13、e hundred cloth pieces shall be evenly stacked and inserted in a snug-fitting clear plastic bag conforming to A-A-1668. Five bags shall then be packed in a snug-fitting folding or Set-up paperboard box. 4.2 Packing. 4.2.1 - Class 1, Each wrapped roll shall be enclosed in a close-fitting poly- ethyle

14、ne film tube with a minimum film thickness of 0.004 inch or each wrapped roll shall be enclosed in bias-sewn tubing made from woven polypropylene cloth. The tube shall be secured by heat sealing, by means of a mechanical tie, or by plastic ties with a lock end. 4.2.2 Class 2. Nine thousand cloth pie

In addition to any special markings required by the contract or purchase order, rolls and shipping containers shall be marked in accordance with MIL-STD-129. legibly printed or stamped in black directly on the bag across the center face or on a white paper label inserted within the bag

17、 so as to permit ready identi- fication. a 5-ply minimum cotton string or a plastic tag hanger. The tag shall have s reinforced eyelet and shall be legibly printed, using water insoluble ink, with the following information: Plastic bagged packages shall have the required information Each roll shall

18、have a piece ticket (identification tag) affixed with Procurement Agency National Stock Number Item Description Contractor Width Fiber Content Contract or Purchase Order Number Finish or Greige Mill Roll Number Lot Number Piece Number Yardage 5, NOTES 5.1 Intended use. The cloth is intended to be us
