SCOPE 1.1 This commercial item description describes

2、 an ankle brace system used by parachutists (see 2.1 and 7.1). 1.2 The ankle braces are intended for use by military personnel for the prevention of ankle injuries when performing parachutist training or in actual airborne exercises and operations. It is intended that the braces would be used repeat

3、edly as required. 2. CLASSIFICATION 2.1 The ankle brace systems shall conform to the following sizes (see 3.1.4 and 7.1). The ankle brace system shall fit on the outside and be compatible with the standard military combat boot. It shall be capable of being quickly and easil

6、y adjusted. 3.1.1 Vertical heiqht adjustment. The brace shall be capable of being adjusted to the vertical height of the boot by means of a bottom fastening strap. Once adjusted it will not need to be undone for either removal or reapplication to the same size boot. 3.1.2 Ankle support adjustment. E

7、ach brace will be capable of fitting and supporting the vertical part of the boot and ankle when fastened around the ankle of the individual. 3.1.3 Mountinq and removal. The braces must be able to be quickly and easily mounted and removed by the individual with a minimum of effort. 3.1.4 Size. The b

8、races shall come in three sizes. The range of sizes for the brace shall be such that they fit the 5th through the 95th percentile of soldiers (see 2.1 and 7.1). 3.2 Svstem confiquration. Each size of the ankle brace system shall come in pairs complete with a positively marked right and left brace. 3

9、.3 Desiqn and construction. The design and construction of the ankle braces shall conform in all respects to the requirements specified herein. (see 5.1). 3.3.1 Brace shell desiqn. The brace shell shall be of one- piece construction of molded impact resistant material and anatomically shaped to acco

10、mmodate the ankle. It shall have two upright sides which are connected at the bottom by a horizontal strip which fits around the heel of the boot. 3.3.2 Straps and buckles. The straps and buckles shall be of nylon. All straps shall be constructed with positive locking hook and loop fastening tape cl

11、osures. The straps and buckles shall be the same color as the brace shell (see 7.1). 3.3.2.1 Vertical adjustment straps. The vertical adjustment strap will have a buckle adjustment with a hook and loop fastening tape locking end on the strap. The buckle will be securely bolted and/or riveted to the

12、brace. There will be two ankle adjustment straps, one upper a

13、nd one lower. Each strap will have an adjusting buckle and a hook and loop fastening tape locking end on the strap. Each strap will be securely rived to the brace. 3.3.3 Air bladders. There will be an air bladder permanently attached to the inside of each side of the shell to provide the maximum amo

14、unt of support and comfort. 3.4 Mountinq and adjustins instructicB. A single sheet providing mounting and adjusting instructions will be provided with each system. 3.5 Workmanship. The finished braces shall conform to the quality of product established by this document. The occurrence of defects sha

15、ll not exceed the contractors own quality assurance standards defined by the technical data in the bid package. 3.6 Bid samples. When required, offerors shall submit samples of their intended production. The bid sample will consist of units independently developed. The bid samples will be analyzed a

16、nd evaluated by the Government. Evaluation criteria and basis of award are contained in the solicitation. The bid samples will be retained by the Government. One (1) bid sample approved by the contracting agency will serve as a manufactured standard for the corresponding production items delivered u

17、nder the contract. Offerors are advised that the bid sample does not relieve the successful offeror of his responsibility to perform in accordance with the commercial item description specified above. 4. REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS 4.1 The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recovered materials to t

18、he maximum extent practicable, in accordance with paragraph 23.403 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR). 5. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 5.1 Certification. The contractor shall certify and maintain substantiating evidence that the product offered meets the salient characteristics and requirem

19、ents of this Commercial Item Description, and that the product conforms to the producers own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices, and is the same product offered for sale in the commercial marketplace. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such confor

Products manufactured to metric

21、dimensions will be considered on an equal basis with those manufactured using inch-pound units, provided they fall within specified tolerances using conversion tables contained in the latest revision of Federal Standard No. 376, and all other requirements of this CID are met. If a product is manufac

22、tured to metric dimensions and those dimensions exceed the tolerances specified in the inch-pound units, a request should be made to the contracting officer to determine if the product is acceptable. The contracting officer has the option of accepting or rejecting the product. 5.3 Market acceptabili

23、ty criteria. The item offered must have been sold to the commercial market or to the Government, and the contractor shall certify and provide supporting documentation as to the serviceability and the long term (one year) availability of all necessary maintenance and logistics support parts and mater

24、ials. 5.4 Warranty. The item offered shall include the standard warranty given to the commercial market. 6. PACKAGING 6.1 Preservation and packinq. Preservation and packing shall be commercial preservation and packing in accordance with ASTM D 3951 or as specified in the contract or purchase order.

25、6.2 Palletization. When specified (see 7.1) the brace systems shall be palletized in accordance with ASTM D 4649 and ASTM D 4675. 6.3 Markinq. In addition to any special marking required by the contract or order, unit packs, shipping containers and palletized unit loads shall be marked in accordance

26、 with ASTM D 3951. 7. NOTES 7.1 Orderinq data. Acquisition documents should specify the following: a. Title, number, and date of this document. b. Size required (see 2.1). c.
