2、cies. 1. SCOPE. This CID covers requirements for grooved and combination type pipe fittings. Grooved-type pipe fittings are intended for use as components of portable pipelines conveying light petroleum products or water. 2. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS 2.1 Materials. Unless otherwise specified, material
3、s shall be in accordance with the manufacturers material specifications. The use of recovered material made in compliance with regulatory requirements is acceptable providing that all requirements of this CID are met. 2.1.1 Adapters and flanged reducer fittings. 2.1.1.1 Aluminum flanged fittings. Al
4、uminum flanged fittings shall be fabricated from round aluminum-alloy tubing conforming to UNS A96061-T6, wall thickness to fit the application, and flanges of aluminum-alloy forgings conforming to ASTM B247 alloy UNS A96151, or aluminum-alloy castings conforming to ASTM B26, alloy and temper to fit

Fittings shall be malleable iron castings conforming to ASTM A47, grade 32510, or ductile iron cas
12、tings conforming to ASTM A536, grade 65-45-12. 2.1.3.2 Steel fittings. Steel fittings shall be steel selected by the contractor and subject to all provisions of this specification. 2.1.3.3 Aluminum fittings. Aluminum fittings shall be aluminum-alloy forgings conforming to ASTM B247, alloy UNS A96151
13、, or aluminum-alloy castings conforming to ASTM B26, alloy and temper to fit the application. 2.1.4 Fitting ends. 2.1.4.1 Beveled. Beveled ends shall conform to ASME B16.25. 2.1.5 Flanged ends. 2.1.5.1 Cast iron. Cast iron flanged ends shall conform to ASME B16.1, class 125 or 250. 2.1.5.2 Steel. St
14、eel flanged ends shall conform to ASME B16.5, class 150 or 300. 2.1.5.3 Aluminum. Aluminum-alloy flanged ends shall be faced and drilled and conform to ASME B16.1, class 125, 250, or ASME B16.5, class 150 or 300. 2.1.6 Grooved ends. Grooved ends shall conform to the dimensions shown on figure 1. The
15、 land-sealing surface shall be smooth and free from mill marks and shall have a roughness height rating of not more than 500 and conform to ASME B46.1. 2.1.7 Threaded ends. Threaded ends shall be National Pipe Thread (NPT) and conform to ASME B1.20.1. 2.2 Design and construction. Fittings shall be m
16、alleable iron, ductile iron, steel, or aluminum alloy, as specified (see 6.1 and 6.3). All fittings shall have one end grooved and the other end beveled, flanged, grooved, or threaded. The groove may be continuous or backstop lug design. As specified (see 6.1 and 6.3), fittings may be drilled, tappe

37、educers shall have a working pressure of not less than 600 pounds per square inch (psi) for water, oil, or gas and shall withstand the hydrostatic pressures specified in table V without evidence of leakage, rupture, or yielding. The portions of the pipe and fittings normally painted shall have corrosion resistance equal to or exceed th
39、at provided by hot dip galvanized 1020 steel, with coating thickness in accordance with ASTM A123, with zinc phosphate pre-treatment. An alternative coating shall be compared to a galvanized sample (as described above) using the Accelerated Corrosion Test GM 954013 Method B 120 cycles, or until fail
40、ure of one of the items. 2.5 Identification and markings. Identification and marking of the pipe fittings shall be permanent and legible and shall include, as a minimum, the manufacturers identification code (CAGE), the contract number, the part identification number (PIN) (see 6.1), and the nationa
41、l stock number (NSN). 3. REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Recovered materials. The offerorkontractor is encouraged to use recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable, in accordance with paragraph 23.403 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR). 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibil
42、ity for inspection. The contractor is responsible for the performance of all inspections and tests. 4.2 Contractor certification. The contractor shall certify and maintain substantiating evidence that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this CID and that the product conforms to
43、the producers own drawings, specifications, workmanship standards, and quality assurance practices. Items with known defects shall not be submitted for Government acceptance. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to the first delivery and thereafter as may be o
44、therwise provided for under the provisions of the contract. 5. PACKING. Preservation, packing, and marking shall be as specified in the contract or purchase order (see 6.1). 6.
