2、 SCOPE. This CID covers one type of liquid lubricant for tire and rim demounting that will facilitate the separation of the mounted tire bead from the wheel rim. 2. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS 2.1 Material. Material shall conform to the contractor?s commercial standards and shall be subject to all provi
3、sions of this specification. 2.1.1 Homoaeneitv. The lubricant shall be homogeneous, and fiee fioin cakes, lumps, or hard gritty particles, when examined. 2.1.2 Toxicitv. Fumes of the lubricant shall not be injurious to a person?s health if inadvertently inhaled for a short period of time in a well v
4、entilated area. 2.2 Performance. 2.2.1 Viscositv. The viscosity of the lubricant at a temperature of 130 degrees Fahrenheit (?F), when determined in accordance with ASTM D445, shall not vary by more than tl centistoke (cs) in value distribution is unlimited. Discoloration of brass or magnesium surfaces will be permitted. 2.2.3 Effect on Drotective finishes. The lubricant shall have no deleterious effect on protective fini
6、shes. 2.2.4 Deterioration of rubber. The lubricant shall not change the tensile strength, elongation, and volume of natural, Buna-S, and butyl unplasticized rubber in excess of k10 percent of the original value. 2.2.5 Coefficient of static friction. The coefficient of friction shall not be more than
7、 0.3 wet or 0.5 dry. 2.3 Stability. 2.3.1 Storage stability. Packaged lubricant shall be capable of withstanding storage temperatures of 160 OF for a period of 240 hours without varying the viscosity (see 2.2.1) and without effecting the corrosion properties on metals (see 2.2.2). 2.3.2 Cvcling stab
8、ilitv. The lubricant shall withstand low temperature cycling (cooled to -65F for 24 hours (h), warmed to room temperature for 24 h, for 2 cycles) and high temperature cycling (heated to 160F for 24 h, cooled to room temperature for 24 h, for 2 cycles) without varying the viscosity (see 2.2.1) and wi
9、thout effecting the corrosion properties on metals (see 2.2.2). 3. REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Recovered material. The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable, in accordance with paragraph 23.403 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR). 4. QU
10、AL,ITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for inspection. The contractor is responsible for the performance of ail inspections, examinations, and tests. 4.2 Product confrmance. The products provided shall meet the salient characteristics of this commercial item description, conform to the produ
11、cers own drawings, specifications, workmanship standards, and quality assurance practices, and be the sanie product offered for sale in the commercial market.
