2、. SCOPE 1.1 Scope. This commercial item description (CID) covers one type and size, 4-seat capacity dining table. 1.2 Intended use. The table is intended for use in military dining halls. 2. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS. 2.1 Design and construction. The table shall conform to the nominal dimensions shown
3、 on figure 1. The tabletop shall be durable plywood with a commercial type backing and a high pressure laminated, stain resistant, hard plastic type top surface. The edges of the tabletop shall be covered with a smooth hard plastic type molding that is beveled flush with the top surface of the table
4、. Plastic material shall meet the requirements of NSF-5 1. The comers of the tabletop shall be rounded. The tabletop shall be securely attached to the table firne with the plastic type surface up. Four kiln-dried hardwood legs shall be securely attached at the comers of the fiame and splayed (
7、see figure 1) to enhance stability. The legs shall have corrosive resistant glides provided with rubber insulators or cushions to protect the table fkom jars and vibrations. The table shall be rigid and shall not rock when placed on a level fiat surface. 2.2 Color and aypearance. The color and grain
8、 appearance of the plastic type tabletop shall approximate maple wood and shall be approved by the contracting officer. The color and appearance of the molding, aprons and legs shall match the tabletop. All wood surfaces shall have a glossy or semigloss protective finish. 2.3 Marking. Each table sha
9、ll be permanently and legibly marked on the underside of the tabletop. The markings shall include the letters “U.S.“ in characters a minimum of 1 inch in height, and the following in characters a minimum of 1/4 inch in height: Item nomenclature Contractors name, trade name, or trade mark Commercial
10、and Government entity (CAGE) number Contract number Year of mandacture 2.4 Workmanship. Dining tables shall be fiee fiom any defect such as Facture, split, puncture or dent. There shall be no sharp edge, sliver, burr, or projection. All joints shall be tight. The outside of the glue joints shall be
11、wiped fiee of excess glue. Wood and machine screws shall be inserted the fui1 depth. The nish applied to the end item shall be continuous, smooth, adherent, without discoloration or foreign material embedded, and shall contain no run, wrinkle, drop, or Streak. 2.5 Metric products. Products manufactu
12、red to metric dimensions will be considered on an equal basis with those mandactured using inch-pound units, provided they fall within the tolerances specified using conversion tables contained in the latest revision of IEEE/ASTM SI 1 O, and all other requirements of this document are met. If a prod
13、uct is manufhctured to metric dimensions and those dimensions exceed the tolerances specified in the inch-pound units, a request should be made to the contracting officer to determine if the product is acceptable. The contracting officer has the option of accepting or rejecting the product. 3. REGUL
14、ATORY REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Contractor-recovered materials. The products provided shall meet the salient characteristics of this commercial item description, shall conform to the producers own drawings, specifications, standards and quality assurance practi
16、ces, and be the same product that has been sold in the commercial marketplace, or is the same product that has successfully been delivered to the Government on a previous contract or purchase order. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and th
17、ereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract. 4.1.1 Market acceptability criteria: The following market acceptability criteria is necessary to document the quality of the product to be provided under this CID: The company must have sold a minimum of 200 items meetin
18、g the requirements of this CID, in the commercial or government marketplace over the past 2 years. 5. PACKAGING 5.1 Packaging.
