2、replacement for all federal agencies. 1. SCOPE. 1.1 ScoDe. This commercial item description (CID) covers one size of molded plastic tool chest with a removable tray. 1.2 Intended use. The chest is intended to be used to contain and protect tools and equipment required for maintenance and repair of m

3、edical service equipment. 2. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS. 2.1 Design. The.chest shall consist of a body, a lid, a removable tray, and shall be equipped with two handles and have locking capability. The chest shall have the lid fit down on the body and be watertight. 2.3 Dimensions. The chest shall have the following approximate dimensions: 27 inches in length,

6、 17 inches in width and 14 inches in height - the total usable volume of approximately three cubic feet. The tray should have the following approximate dimensions: 15 inches in width, 3 1/2 inches in height and 26 inches in length. 2.4 Materials. The materials used shall be able to withstand tempera

7、tures of -25F to 120F and not exhibit any evidence of deterioration or deformation when exposed to a field environment. 2.5 Load caDacitv. The chest shall support a weight of 200 pounds when fully loaded and lifted by the handles. The empty chest shall weigh less than 40 pounds. 2.6. Color (“uovernm

8、ent unique“ requirement 1 (see 6.3 1 . The chest shall be olive green in color conforming to color numbers 24097, 34094, 34095, 34096 or 34097 of FED-STD-595. Chests of a specified lot shall not exhibit any variations in shade from the specific color selected for that product lot. 2.7 Handles. The h

9、andles should be integrally molded into the chest on each side and be capable of supporting the chest when fully loaded for transport. 2.8 Lock. A locking device shall be incorporated into the molded chest. 2.9 Drop test. The chest shall be capable of being dropped when fully loaded (200.pounds) on

10、the bottom corners from a height of two feet onto a smooth hard surface(e.g. wood) without structural damage, cracking or denting. 2.10 Workmanship. The molded plastic chests shall be complete, clean and free of scratches, dents, breaks, sharp edges and corners and deformities. All components and as

11、semblies shall be free of dirt and other extraneous materials. Burrs, slivers rough die, tool and grinding marks, dents and cracks shall be unacceptable. Products manufactured to metric dimensions will be considered on an equal basis with those manufactured using inch-pound units, provided they fall within the tolerances specified using c

13、onversion tables contained in the latest revision of IEEE/ASTM SI 10, and all other requirements of this document are met. If a product is manufactured to metric dimensions and those dimensions exceed the tolerances specified in the inch-pound units, a request should be made to the contracting offic

14、er to determine if the product is acceptable. The contracting officer has the option of accepting or rejecting the product. 3. REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Contractor-recovered materials. The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable, in accordance

15、with paragraph 23.403 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR). 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Product conformance. The products provided shall meet the salient characteristics of this commercial item description; shall conform to the producers own drawings, specifications, standards and qua

16、lity assurance practices and be the same product that has been sold in the commercial marketplace for over one year, or is the same product that has successfully been delivered to the Government on a previous contract or purchase order. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conf

17、ormance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract. 5. PACKAGING 5.1 Packaainq. Preservation, packing, labeling and marking requirements shall specified in the contract or purchase order (see 6.1). 6. NOTES 6.1 Orderinu Data. Purchase
