2、tion, for the use of all Federal agencies. 1. SCOPE AND CLASSIFICATION 1.1 Scope. This specification covers liquid-in-glass, self-indicating cooking thermometers (see 6.1) 1.2 Classification. 1.2.3. Classes. Thermometers with scale ranges as indicated, shall be of the following classes as specified
3、(see 6.2): Class 1 - Confectioners, 60F - 360F Class 2 - Cooking (deep fry), 60F - 450F Class 3 - Cooking (roast meat), 120F - 195F Class 4 - Dough testing, 60F - 110F Class 5 - Oven, 200 - 600F 2. The thermometers covered herein shall be a current standard productof the manufacturer, except for any changes necessary to meet specification requiremen
15、ts. 3.2 Materials. Materials shall conform to the applicable specifications, standards and sequirements specified herein. Materials not definitely specified shall be of the quality used by the manufacturer in his comercial thermometers. 3.2.1 Corrosion-resisting steel. The corrosion-resisting steel
16、sheet shall conform to type 301, 302 or 304 of bASTib AL67 or type 430 of ASTM Al76. 3.2.2 Aluminum. Aluminum sheet or plate shall conform to temper O, 5052 of QQ-A-250/8. 3.3 Design and construction. The thermometers, shall be similar to figure 1 Figures are for illustration purposes only and are o
17、r figure 2, as applicable. not intended to preclude procurement of comercial thermometers conforming to the requirements specified herein. The thermometers shall consist of a case or mounting, bulb, and glass tube, and shall have a graduated Fahrenheit (F) scale. The thermometers shall conform to th
18、e requirements of table I. thermometers shall be designed for a temperature of 40F in excess of the highest temperature indicated on the scale and shall not be damaged when tested a6 specified in 4.3.1. The. thermosensitive fluid shall remain in the portion of the stem between the top of the bulb an

Unless otherwise specified each fifth graduation shall be longer than the intervening graduation and shall be numbered. graduatio

The scale of the class 1 thermometer shall be graduated in either 1 or 2 increments and shall have the following markings at the temperatures indicated. The 300 to 309 - Hard Crack 270 to 290

31、ng marking shall be made 300 - Slow 400 - Hot 350 - Moderate 450 - Very hot 3.3.5 Tube. The thermometer tube shall be a hermetically sealed, magnifying lens, glass tube of uniform bore, with a bulb at one end. The tube shall not crack or craze when tested as specified in 4.3.1. The tube shall contai
32、n the thermosensitive fluid. The thermometers shall be finished in accordance with the manufacturers practice, except cadmium plati
33、ng shall not be used. 3.5 Marking for identification. Each thennometer shall be marked with the manufacturers name9 or trademark readily identifiable with said manufacturer. 3.6 Workmanship. The numbers and graduations shall be legible. The tube shall not be loose. be free of blisters, scratches, an
34、d tool marks. Clasps shall not mask the scale. The finish shall 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIBNS 4.1 Responsibility.for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the supplier is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements as specified herein. Except
35、as otherwise specified in the contract or order, the supplier may use his own or any other facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements speci- fied herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in
36、 the specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements. 4.2 Inspection. Sampling for inspection shall be performed in accordance with MIL-STD-105, except where otherwise indicated hereinafter. 4.2.1 Component and material ins
37、pection. In accordance with 4.1, components and materials shall be inspected and tested in accordance with all the require- ments of referenced specifications and standards unless otherwise excluded, amended, modified, or qualified in this specification or applicable purchase document. 4.2.2 End ite
38、m inspection. The inspection lot shall consist of all ther- mometers of one description offered for inspection at one time. sample unit shall be one completely fabricated thermometer. The 4.2.2.1 Visual examination. The end item shall be examined for the defects set forth in table II. The inspection
