Size of lots.-Maximum, 10,000 pounds. F-2a. Primary sample bms.-The inspector shall designate the number of co

10、ntainers, the location of the individual containers, and the method of sampling whieh shall be representative of the lot. In any case, not less than 10 containers shall be selected to repre- sent the lot. The supplier shall be given no prior information to indicate. which particular containers will

11、be selected. A representa- tive primary sample shall be taken from each batch. (See par. Ha.) Blend the contents of each selected container as thorough1 f as practicable and by means of 4 thief, remove portions from eaci ! container. 14、 analysis. Spot check samples shall be taken from time to tiine, from any portion of the lot, by the inspector. F-2b. Co2;cpositc snwiylc basis.-When acceptance on basis of primary sample aiilysis is not feasible or advisable in the opinion of the Chief of the bureau or agency coiicerned, the accept

15、ance tests shall be made on a coinposite sample prepared by blending equal portions takeii from each of the primary samples and reduc- ing the blend to outain a composite sample weighing approximately 1 pound. The remaining portions of the primary samples shall be held by the inspector for possible

16、future examination should the composite sample fail to meet the requirements. F-2c. Markhg of sample coiitainers.-Each sample container shall be labeled to show the name of the material, manufacturer, plan, contract or order number, number of pounds in the lot, lot number and, when applicable, the b

Lot accc!iJf(L?icc.-.4cceptance of the lot shall be based on the analysis of primary samples and spot check samples, or the composite sample, selected to represent the lot. Primary samples and spot check samples shall be examined and tested as com

19、pletely as necessary to provide reasonable assurance to the inspector that al1 portions of he lot comply with cach oiic of the specification re- quirements. No lot shall be accepted when the analysis of any primary sample or spot check sample or composite sample shows non-compliance with any require

20、ment of this specification. Each batch shall comply with the rcquirenicnts specified in section E. The contractors record of batch analyses shall be available at all times for examination by the inspector. F-4. Tests.-Tests to determine compliance with the require- ments of this specification shall

21、be made iii accordance with the following paragraphs as applicable. For Navy purchases, the testa shall be mads at a Governmciit laboratory unless otherwise specified in the contract or order. F-4a. Moistitre.-Transfer a portion of approximately 6 gm. of the sample to a tared shallow weighing contai

22、ner provided with a cover. Weigh the dish and sample. Remove the cover and place in a sulfuric acid vacuum desiccator for 24 hours. Cover and weigh. Calculate the loss in weight as percent moisture. F-4b. Gwase aiid fats.-Extract a weighed portion of approxi- mately 20 gm. of the sample with ether i

23、n a Soxhlet or similar ex- tractor using a tared flask. When extraction is coihplete, evapo- rate the ether and dry the flask and contents at 90“ C. to constant weight. Preparation of solutions.- F-4c (i) a. 8-Hydroxyquhzoline solution.-Dissolve 6 gm. of 8- hydroxyquinoline in 10 ml. of glacial acetic acid. Dilute to 100 ml. th wate

25、r and filter if necessary. F-4c (1) b. Bromphenol blue indicator.-Dissolve 0.100 gm. of bromphenol blue powder in 20 ml. of 95-percent ethyl alcohol and dilute to 100 ml. with water. . FAc(2). Procedure.-Transfer an accurately weighed sample of 1.000 -t 0.0500 gm. of type A alloy or 0.7700 -i- 0.030

26、0 gm. of type B alloy to a 260 ml. beaker. Add 10 ml. of water, cover the beaker with a watch glass and add, dropwise, 20 ml. of concen- trated HCI through the opening at the lip o the beaker. After the reaction subsides, heat to boiling to assure complete solution. Wash the watch glass thoroughly a

27、nd drain the washings back to the beaker. Filter through a No. 41 Whatman or equivalent filter paper and catch the filtrate in an accurately calibrated, 1-liter - volumetricflask. Wash the filter paper thoroughly with hot water and make up to volume with water. Transfer a 100-ml. aliquot to a 260-ml

28、. beaker using an accurately calibrated buret or pipet. Add three drops of bromphenol blue indicator and neutralize the solution by adding dropwise and with constant stirrin a filtered 1:l “,OH solution until the yellow color changes to %he. Then add two drops of “,OH solution in excess Heat to boil

29、ing and add 18 ml. of the 8-hydroxyquinoline solution in small portions stir- ring after each addition to dissolve the precipitate that forms. Disregard any precipitate remaining after the completion of the addition of reagent. Heat to boiling and add 40 mi. of 2M i- ammonium acetate solution (164 g

30、m. er liter) dropwise with -with suction through a tared, fine-porosity, f ritted-glass bottom crucible. Wash the precipitate eight times with 154. portions of water releasing the suction before each addition and allowing the precipitate to remain in contact with the wash water for at least minute p
