SCOPE 1.1 This specification covers one type and size of Bottle, Screw Cap, Identification, Burial

The screw cap shall be made from either a melamine or a phenol formaldehyde compound. * 3.2.3 Liners.
11、 ille screw caps shall have cemented in rubber liners, poly- seal or equivalent liners, or vinyl liners. * 3.3 Construction. The burial identification bottle shall be a wide mouth straight side bottle 3-314 inches 2 118 inch high by 1-114 inch - + 118 inch out- side width. There shall be six screw t
12、hreads to the inch. * 3.3.1 Cap to bottle fitness. The bottle and cap .shall be constructed to withstand any hand-screwing of the cap without rupture or breakage. The cap shall firmly fit the bottle with screw threads to match those on the bottle. * 3.3.2 Leakage. Bottles shall not show any evidence
13、 of leakage when tested as specified in 4.4.3. * 3.4 Instruction sheet. Eie instructions shall be printed or typed on a sheet of white paper, approximately 5 inches by 3 inches, using elite type or equal with the following legend: BOTTLE, SCREW CAP , IDENTIFICATION , BURIAL; Federal Stock number 812

Wrapping of the body should be secured to prevent movement of the bottle, hhen immediate erection of a marker is impractica
15、ble, use second bottle containing like information, and place in the grave, in the center at its head; secure to prevent washing away by rain until a marker can be erected. To effect water-tight closure of the bottle, securely screw cap on bottle, forcing bottle top into liner within cap. * 3.5 Hark

Bach burial bottle shall be permanently and distinctly marked on the bottom with molded or pressed figures showing the suppliers name or trademark of such known character as to be readily identified with the supplier. 3.6 Workmanship. The bottles shall be free from imperfecti

The end item shall be examined in accor- dance with
24、 the classification of defects listed in table II. The lot shall consist of all the coinpleted burial bottles offered for inspection at one time. The sample unit shall be one burial bottle. 4.3.1 Visual examination. Tie burial bottles shall be exauined for the defects listed in table II. The inspect

Test specimens of the uncappe
35、d glass bottles shall be coupletely immersed in distilled water in a closed vessel having a small steam vent and boiled continuously at 212 F for 6 hours, boiling water being occasionally added to compensate for evaporation loss. The bottles shall be suspended in the water so that they do not come i
36、n contact with the containing vessel. Any bottle which shows corrosion, scm.ing, chipping or cracking as a result of the boiling, shall be considered as having failed the test and shall be cause for rejection of the lot. 4.4.2 Sudden heat test. Test specimens of the uncapped glass bottles shall be i
37、mmersed in tap water at 65 5 5 F and allowed to remain a minimum of 10 niinutes for the bottles to reach a uniform temperature of 65 i 5 F. The bottles shall then be transferred suddenly into a hot water bath, main- tained at a temperature of 155 5 5 IF, for a period of 10 niinutes. This cycle shall
38、 be repeated four times to give a total of five such cycles. The bottles shall be removed from the hot water and cooled slowly Sefore returning to the tap water at 65 F. constitute failure and shall be cause for rejection of the lot.
