The multiwall pasted valve bag shall comply with all requirements specified on drawing (dwg.) 12972282 and with all requirements specified in applicable specifications and stand
17、ards. 3.2 Construction. The multiwall pasted valve bag shall have a tuck in sleeve (inner flap), an opening or valve, in one corner through which the bag is filled. 3.2.1 Plies. The bag shall have five (5) plies with a glue seam for the top and bottom and an overlap side glue seam. The innermost ply
18、 and tuck in sleeve shall be made of No. 50 natural kraft with a 0.0015 inch minimum thickness of polyethylene ap- plied to the innerside of the ply and tuck in sleeve. The second ply shall be No. 50 kraft. The third ply shall consist of a high density polyethylene sheet stretched in one direction a
19、nd a second layer of high density polyethylene bonded to it at 45 de- grees. The total thickness shall be 2.5 mil minimum. No. 50 kraft shall be used for the forth and fifth plies. 3.2.2 Bondinq of plies. The top and bottom ends shall be continously bonded, with hot melt or thermoplastic adhesive, s
20、o that the various walls will be securely anchored, one to another providing strong closures. Additional glue shall be sprayed into the corner seams (to control seams). The adhesive, applied to the seams and closures, shall be water resistant to the extent that there will be not more than 25 percent of adhesive failure of the bonded area. The adhesi
22、ve shall be hot melt or thermoplastic ad- hesive. 3.4 Seam strenqth. The adhesive, applied to the seams, shall give a seam strength at least equal to the wall of the kraft paper. The seams shall have a continous bond. The overlap of paper at the longitudinal seam shall not be less than one half (1/2
23、) inch and there shall not be more than 3/16 inch of unsealed edge on the exposed edge. 3.5 Basis weiqht of kraft paper. The basis weight of single ply kraft paper used in the fabrication of the bags shall be fifty (50) pounds (24 x 36 -500). The tolerance for basis weight is minus 5 percent and unl
24、imited plus tolerance. 3.6 Leakproofness. The filled bag shall not exhibit any penetration (leakage) of the contents. 3.7 First article. When specified in the contract or pur- chase order (see 6.2), a sample shall be subjected to first article inspection in accordance with the techncial provisions h
25、erein (see 4.3). 3.8 Workmanship. The bags shall be uniformly constructed and shall be free from holes, tears or other defects that would impair their usefulness or which might result in damage to the contents. 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise speci
26、fied in the contract or purchase order, the contractor is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements (examinations and tests) as specified herein. Except as other- wise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor may use his own or any other facilities suitable fo
27、r the perfor- mance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in this specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to ensure supplies and services conform to prescr
28、ibed requirements. 4.1.1 Responsibility for compliance. All items shall meet all requirements of sections 3 and 5. The inspection set forth in this specification shall become a part of the contractors overall inspection system or quality program. The absence of any inspection requirements in the spe
29、cification shall not relieve the contractor of the responsibility of ensuring that all products or supplies submitted to the Government for acceptance comply with all manufacturing operations, is an acceptable prac- tice to ascertain conformance to requirements, however, this does 4 Provided by IHSN

31、ovisions. Unless otherwise specified herein, the provisions of MIL-A-48078, apply and form a part of this specification. Reference shall be made to MIL-STD-109 to define quality assurance terms used herein. ments specified herein are classified as follows: 4.2 Classification of inspections. The insp
32、ection require- a. First article inspection (see 4.3). b. Quality conformance inspection (see 4.4). 4.3 First article inspection. 4.3.1 Submission. The contractor shall submit a first ar- ticle sample as designated by the Contracting Officer for evaluation in accordance with the provisions of 4.3.2.
33、 The first article sample shall consist of the assemblies, components and test specimens listed below in the quantities indicated. 4.3.2 Inspections to be performed. As determined by the Government, the first article assemblies, components and test specimens may be subjected to any or all of the exa
34、minations and tests specified in this detail specification (See Table I) and be - inspected for compliance with any or all requirements of the ap- plicable drawings. 4.3.3 Rejection. If any assembly, component or test specimen fails to comply with any of the applicable requirements, the first articl
35、e sample shall be rejected. 37、herein or provided for in the contract, al- ternative quality conformance procedures, methods or equipment, such as statistical process control, tool control, variables sampling or other types of sampling plans, etc. may be used by the contractor when they provide, as a minimum, the level of quality
38、 assurance required by the provisions herein. Prior to applying such alternative procedures, methods or equipment, the contractor shall describe them in a written proposal submitted to the Government for evaluation (see 6.3). When required, the con- tractor shall demonstrate that the effectiveness o
39、f each proposed alternative is equal to or better than the specified quality con- formance provision(s) herein. In case of dispute as to whether the contractors proposed alternative(s) provides equivalent as- surance, the provisions of this specification shall apply. All approved alternative provisi

The inspection equipmen
45、t re- quired to perform the inspections specified herein is identified in Table I and the “Inspection Methods Reference“ column of the Classification of Characteristics listing starting with 4.4.2.1. Contractor inspection equipment designs shall be submitted for Government approval as specified in t
46、he contract. Designs which provide variable measurements instead of attributes data are preferred in order to facilitate the use of statistical process control. See MIL-A-48078 and 6.4 herein. 4.5 Methods of inspection. (see 6.5) 4.5.1 Leak test. (First article only). 4.5.1.1 Preparation. Fill each
47、bag to capacity (42 & 2 pounds) with an inert filler (see 6.6). The filler material shall have a bulk density of 0.997 + 0.005 g/ml. Seal the bag by securing the sleeve shut with tape and then tucking the sleeve in the bag. Pre-condition the bag in accordance with TAPPI T402. Immediately after pre-c
48、onditioning, condition the bag for twenty four (24) hours in accordance with TAPPI T402. 4.5.1.2 Procedure. Perform tests in the sequence indicated (“a“ through “el) on the loaded and sealed bags. All testing shall be performed at ambient temperature. Perform the tests below, “a through d“, in accor
49、dance with Table I (Packs weighing 150 pounds or less), Level C (CONUS) of MIL-STD-1905. Test “e“, the four foot drop, shall be in accordance with 49 CFR, Paragraph 178.603.
