SCOPE 1.1 Scope

2、. This specification covers cloth, mohair-wool, frieze, double face, which has a woven loop pile construction of animal fiber on face and back, interwoven on a cotton base. 1.2 Classification. The cloth, mohair-wool, frieze, double face shall be of the following types, as specified (see 6.2) : Type

3、Type 11-100 percent wool pile. Type III- 50 percent wool and 50 percent mohair pile. I - 100 percent mohair pile. 2. APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS 2.1 The following specifications and stand- ards of the issue in effect on date of invita- tion for bids, form a part of this specifica- tion. SPECIFICATIONS FEDE

The cloth shall be equal to the standard sample in all respects not specifically covered by this specification (see 6.3). 3.2 Sample approval. 3.

8、2.1 Bid sample and laboratory report ap- proval, Unless otherwise specified, at the time of submission of a bid, the bidder shall submit to the contracting officer a sample 5 by 9 inches and a certified copy of a recent laboratory report covering the material which he proposes to deliver (see 6.2).

Cloth manu- factured under this specification shall be labeled in accordan

11、ce with the Wool Products Labeling Act of 1939. 3.10 Workmanship. The finished cloth shall be clean, evenly woven, and shall conform to the quality and grade of product estab- lished by the specification. The occurrence of defects shall not exceed the applicable acceptable quality levels. 4. QUALITY

12、 ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 General. The quality assurance provi- sions contained in this section are applicable to inspection. Quality assurance provisions for components or materials described shall be in accordance with this specification and with subsidiary specifications referred to herein to the

13、 extent applicable except that this specification shall govern in the event of conflict. 4.2 Preacceptance inspection, 4.2.1 Bid sample impectiofi. The bid sam- ple submitted in accordance with 3.2.1 shall be visually inspected for appearance and hand of the material. The data contained in the repor

14、t shall be obtained in accordance with test methods specified in table III, and 4.4.1 when applicable. 4.2.2 Preproduction sample inspection. Tnhe sample shall be tested for physical and chemical properties in accordance with the methods shown in table III and 4.4.1 when applicable. 4.3 Inspection for acceptance. Inspection shall be in accordance with the provisions of Standa

16、rd MIGSTD-105 except where otherwise indicated. 4.3.1 Inspection of components. In addition to the quality assurance provisions of the subsidiary specifications, inspection shall be performed on components or materials in 4.3.1.1 for the characteristics shown. Unless otherwise specified, inspection

17、shall be in ac- cordance with Specification CCC-T-191 as applicable, and ths methods specified herein. 4.3.1.1 Wool and mohair. The wool and mohair shall be examined for grade (3.3.1.2 and 3.3.1.3) in grease, scoured or top form (undyed) by conparison with the applicable USDA Standards. In the event

18、 of dispute resulting from the above comparison, the wool or mohair grade shall be determined by a width method (wedge) approved by the Government. The unit of product for this examination shall be 1 pound composite of grease wool or mohair, or 1/2 pound com- posite of white scoured wool or mohair,

19、or 1 yard of undyed top. The AQL shall be 4.0 test failures per 100 units. The inspection level shall :be Level 62, table VI1 of Ap- pendix to Standard MIL-STD-105. The lot MILC-10751B size shall be expressed in units of 1 yard each. 4.3.2 Inspection of the end item. Ai 4.3.2.1 Examinution of the en

20、cl item. De- fects found during the examination shall be classified in accordance with list shown in 4.3.2.1.1, 4.3.2.1.2 and 4.3.2.1.3. 4.3.2.1.1 Yaw.-l-by-yurd examination. The required yardage of each piece shall be in- spected on both sides and visual defects clas- sified as listed. The defects

21、found shall be counted regardless of their proximity to each other, except where two or more defects re- present a single local condition of the cloth, in which case only the more serious defect shall be counted. A continuous defect shall be counted as one defect for each warpwise yard or fraction t

22、hereof in which it occurs. The unit of product for this examination shall be 1 linear yard. The acceptable quality level (AQL) for this examination shall be 4.0 major defects and 10.0 total defects (majors and minors combined) per 100 units (yards). The sample size shall be based upon inspec- tion L

23、evel II, tzble III of Standard MIL STD-105. The sample size shall be expressed in units of 1 yard each. The number of pieces from which the sample is to be selected shall be in accordance with table II of 4.3.2.1.2. An approximately equal number of yards shall be examined in each piece of the sample

The lot shall be unacceptable if the total of the actual gross lengths of pieces in the sample is less than the total of the gross lengths marked on the piece tickets. 4.4 Tests. The methods of testing specified in Specificatio

37、n CCC-T-191, wherever ap- pliczble and as listed in table III and 4.4.1 shall be followed. The physical and chemical values specified in section 3 apply to the average of the determinations made on a unit of product for test purposes as specified in the applicable test method. For each charac- teris

38、tic, the acceptable quality level shall be 6.5 test failures per 100 units. The unit of product shall be ly2 continuous. yards, full width, of the finished cloth. The saniple size shall be in accordance with Level 62, table VI1 of Appendix to Standard MILSTD-105. The lot size shall be expressed in u

43、The chemicals, reagents, and indi- cator used shall be as follows: Chemicals and reagents : 50 percent H2S04 in distilled water N/100 Th ( NO3) 4 solution (by volume) N/10 HC1 solution 10 percent NaOH solution Indicator : 0.05 percent aqueous solu- tion alizarin red. 4.4.1.2 Procedure. Separate the

44、animal fibers from the vegetable fibers in the speci- men, retaining only the animal fibers. Weigh out a 0.5 gm. sample of the animal fibers and cut into small pieces. Transfer to a 500- ml., three-necked distilling flask, and add 40 -ml. of 50 percent sulfuric acid. Start distillation with strong f

45、lame after first heat- ing gradually to dissolve animal fiber. Im- merse lower end of condenser in 20 ml. of distilled water in receiving beaker to insure solution of gases. Avoid localized overheating by protecting flask with asbestos sheeting having a relatively small hole placed directly under th

46、e bottom of flask. Maintain liquor temperature between 135O and 14OOC. by dropping distilled water from separatory funnel inserted in one neck of flask. Collect 200 ml. or a minimum of 175 ml. of distillate, then make up to exactly 200 ml. in volu- metric flask. After shaking well, allow to rise to

47、surface in neck of volumetric flask any fats or waxes which may have distilled over, from which point they are readily shaken out. For titration take two 20 ml. aliquot parts, add two drops sodium alizarin sulfonate indicator and neutralize with 10 percent NaOH. Add five drops N/10 HC1 in excess. Ti

48、trate to a faint but definite pink coloration with N/100 Th ( NO3) 4 solution. For 0.6 gm. sample - total number Calculation : ml. 49、 one drop 10 percent NaOH solution for neutraiization. When more ia required, contamination of the distillate by decomposition products (formed by localized overheating during distillation) is indicated. These products interfere with the titration. Note 2. The pH of the solution taken for titra- tion is important. The pH provided by the addition of five drops excess N/10 HCl is ideal e. 4.4.1.2).
