Canisters for a base ejection shell. 1.2 Classification. The canister components shall be furnished in the following types as specifi

All materials cited on TDPL-15-11-33 and TDPL-15-11-41 shall conform to the specifications listed thereon, unless modified speci-*
12、fic characteristics are set forth on the drawings, in which case, detail drawings take precedent (see 6.4). 3.1.2 Components, All components of the Mi and M2 canisters shall con- form to the specifications and drawings listed on TDPL-15-11-33 and TDPL- 15-11-41. 3.2 Filling and assembly. The M1 and
13、M2 canisters shall be filled and assembled as specified on Drawings D15-11418, Di5-11-33 (Ml) and D15-11- 123, Di5-11-41 (M2) respectively (see 6.4 and 6.5). The white smoke mix- ture (HC), (Drawing B143-1-1) shall be consolidated into the body assembly, after the impregnated ignition sleeve, starte
14、r slugs/zinc sleeve assembly, and packing disk are in place, in two increments for the M1 canister and one increment for the M2 canister. Each increment shall be consolidated at 80 - 82 tons dead load for a period of not less than 3 seconds for the M1 canister. The M2 canister increment shall be con
15、solidated at 70 - 72 tons dead load for a period of not less than 3 seconsc dwell time. The. excess white smoke mixture shall be removed to a height as shown on Drawings D15-11-118 (Ml) and D15-11-123 (M2) respectively. Additional packing disks , as required, and the closing disk shall be installed
16、and the body assembly completed as indicated on the Drawings Dl5-11-118, Di5-11-33 (Ml) and DU- 11-123, Di5-11-41 (M2) respectively. 3.3 Starter slug. 3.3.1 Volatile content, The volatile content of the finished starter slug shall not exceed 0.50 percent when tested in accordance with 4.4.4.2(a), 3.
17、3.2 Crush strength. The crush strength of the starter slug shall be such that the starter slug shall not crush or break when a uniformly distributed load of 500 lbs is applied parallel to the longitudinal axis of the starter slug and when tested in accordance with 4.4.4.2(b). 3.3.3 Starter mixture.

19、remated sleeve. 3.4.1 Burn time. The impregnated sleeve shall conform to Drawings Bl5- 11-125 and B15-11-127. complete burning over its entire area within 7 seconds maximum when tested in accordance with 4.4.4.3(a). The dried impregnated sleeve shall demonstrate 3.4.2 Impregnating mixture. , The imp
20、regnating mixture shall conform to the chemical composition specified on Drawing Bi43-15-1 when tested in accordance with 4.4.4,3(b). 3.5 HC mixture. The HC mixture shall conform to the chemical compo- sition specified on Drawing B143-1-1 when tested in accordance with 4.4.4m4. 3.6 Functioning. The
21、M1 canister shall produce a continuous dense cloud of white smoke (opaque) for 60 to i50 seconds for the M1 and 30 to 120 seconds for the M2, when tested as specified in 4.4.4.1. Time from the first ignition of starter mix to first emission of smoke under pressure shall not exceed 10 seconds. Smoke
22、emission time shall be that period, when smoke is emitted under pressure until the cessation of smoke under pressure. Smoldering of the canister after the charge has burned Is not considered part of the smoke emission time, shall be no interruption of smoke by flame (burning of the starter mix- ture
23、, first 10 seconds maximum, shall not be construed as flaming). There 3.7 First article ballistic information. This specification makes provisions for a first article ballistic informational test prior to commencement of regular production. Table I. For test requirements see 4.3.4 and 3.8 Preproduct
24、ion. Prior to the start of regular production, a pre- production lot of canisters shall be produced in accordance with this specification, for examination an tests (see 4.3). 3.9 Workmanship. The canister shall be free from contamination (pyro- technic mixture, oil, or grease) -and damage, including
25、 but not limited to dents, cracks, or deformation which could affect its intended use. The starter slug shall be free from contamination (foreign matter, oil, or grease) and damage including but not limited to cracks, chip outs, dents, or deformation which could affect its assembly into the canister
26、 or its intended use. Unless otherwise specified in the contract, the contractor is responsible for the performance of all inspec- tion requirements as sp
28、ecified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the contract, the contractor may use his own or any other facilities suit- able for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government, The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspecti
29、ons set forth in the inspection where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements. The provisions of,MIL-A-2550 shall apply. 4.1.2 Additional responsibility of contractor. (a) Drawings for contractor designed inspection equipment (other th
30、an standard measuring equipment) shall be forwarded to design agency for approval prior to production (see 6.2). (b) Ammunition data cards prepared in accordance with MIL-STD-1167 shall be supplied for each lot of canisters. (e) The contractors quality assurance element will establish con- trols suf
31、ficient to assure compliance with requirements of starter mix Dwg Cl5-11-119, impregnating mix Dwg Bi43-15-1, HC mix Dwg B143-1-1, and Section three of this specification. The QA plan shall be approved by the procuring activity prior to initiation of production. (a) The sampling of mix batches/lots
32、for the weighing and blendhg operations shall be in accordance with the requirements of MIL-STD-1235, CSP1, AQ.L 6.5. and blending of every sample batch or lot. The quality assurance representative shall witness the weighing (e) A batch/lot record specifying the weight of each chemical ingredient sh
33、all be maintained for each blended batch/lot produced. 4.1.3 Objective evidence. The contractor shall. provide objective evi- dence acceptable to the contracting officer that the requirements of 3.1 and section 5 for which specific inspection has not been provided in this. specification have been sa

35、n inspection. 4.3.1 &. A preproduction lot of 1,250 canisters, 850 M1 and 400 M2, shall be manufactured using the same methods, materials, equipment, pro- cesses, and cycle time as will be used during-regular production. 4.3.2 Sampling. 4.3.2.1 For examination and nondestructive tests. (a) Examinati
36、on, Sampling of canisters of each type for . examination shall be conducted in accordance with MIL-STD-105, level II. (b) Filling and assembly. Sampling of canisters of each type for examination in accordance with 3.2, (Drawings D15-il-i18 and D15-11-123) shall be conducted in accordance with.MIL-ST
37、D-105, level II and classifica- tion of defects (4.4.3.3). (e) Volatile content of starter slugs. A minimum of two starter slug samples shall be selected from each batch (see 6.5) for test in accordance with 4.4.4.2(a). (a) Impregnated sleeve. A random sample of 5 each sleeves shall be taken from ea
38、ch batch/lot of sleeves. 4.3.2.2 For destructive tests. (a) Functioning, Sampling of canisters of each type shall be conducted in accordance with MIL-STD-105, level S-4. (b) Crush strength of starter slug. Three starter slugs per batch/lot shall be taken at random for the crush strength test in acco
39、rd- ance with 4.4.4,2(b). (c) Impregnated sleeve. A random sample of 5 each sleeves shall be tested in accordance with 4.4.4.3(a). (6) Starter mix. Select at random one sample from every eight batches/lots of starter mixture used to manufacture slugs. (e) HC mix. Select at random one sample from eve
40、ry eight batches/lots of HC smoke mix produced. (f) impregnating mix. 41、mple of i35 M1 and 45 M2 canisters shall be taken from the preproduction lot and submitted to a Government Proving Ground as designated by the contracting officer (see 6.2). 4.3.3 inspection procedure. 4.3.3.1. For examination and nondestructive tests. (a) Examination. Sample canisters of each type
42、shall be exa- mined in accordance with 4.4.3.3 and MIL-STD-105. (b) Filling and assemblx. Sample canisters of each type for filling and assembly shall be examined in accordance with 3.2 (Drawings Di5-11-118 and Dl5-11-123) and classification of defects (4.4.3.3). (c) Volatile content of starter slug
43、. The starter slugs shall be tested in accordance with 4.4.4.2(a). The acceptance number is zero. (d) Impregnated sleeve. Five sleeves of each type shall be examined in accordance with Drawings B15-11-125 and B15-11-127. The acceptance number is zero. h.3.3.2 For destructive tests. (a) Functionin .
44、Sample canisters of each type shall be tested in accordance _& with .4,4.i. The AQL shall be as specified in 4.4.3.2(a). (b) Crush strength of starter slug. Three sarter slugs per . batchhot shall be tested for crush strength in accordance with 4.4.4.2(b). The acceptance number is zero. (c) Impregna
45、ted sleeve. Five sleeves of each type shall be tested in accordance with 4.4.4.3(a). The acceptance number is zero. (a) Starter mix. The sample starter mix shall be tested in accordance with 4.4.4.2(c). If any sample fails the requirement, the lot represented shall be rejected. In addition, all lots
46、 subsequent to the last acceptable lot sampled, shall be analyzed for conformance .to Dwg C15-11-119. Lots not meeting dwg requirements shall be rejected. 48、 the last acceptable lot samples shall be analyzed for conformance to Dwg B143-1-1, all lots not meeting dwg requirements shall be rejected.
