When specified (see 6.21, a sample shall be subjected to first article inspection (see 6.3) in accordance with 4.3. 3.2 Guide samples. Guide samples, when furnished, are solely for guidance and info
17、rmation to the contractor (see 6-41. Variation from this specification may appear in the sample, in which case this specification shall govern . 3.3 Material. The basic material shall be polyester and rayon gabardine, Olive Green 106, conforming to type III, class 2 of MIL-C-41820. 3.3.2 Lining.
19、The material for the lining shall be nylon oxford cloth, 3-ounce, Olive Green 106, conforming to type I, class 2, of MIL-C-508. 3.3.3 Elastic cord. The elastic cord for sleeves and leg bottoms shall be 3/16-inch diameter, natural, or Olive Drab 7, conforming to class 2 of MIL-C-43303 3.3.4 Webbing,
20、elastic. The elastic webbing for back waist shall be le1/2 inches wide, unbleached or Olive Drab 7, conforming to type I, class 10 of JJ-W-155 except that the requirement for colorfastness to accelerated weathering shall not apply. * 3.3.5 Slide fasteners. The slide fasteners shall have either a bra
21、ss or extruded individual element plastic chain in accordance with V-F-106. slide fastener tapes and thongs of both chain types shall be Olive Drab, Shade S, Cable No. 66519 and the chain, slider, and stops of the extruded plastic chain type shall approximately match the tape shade. thongs shall sho

The coverall has a bi-swing back with elastic at the waist, a right hip pocket, side hand entries, and a front opening from the neck to the middle of the thigh. outside protective we
33、lts. The front opening has a slide fastener and a protective flap with snap fasteners. The bottom of the sleeves and legs have elastic in the hems. Standard patterns to be used to cut working patterns will be furnished by the Government. The patterns provide a 1/2-inch
35、seam allowance for side seams, inseams, seat seam, and waist seam of the coverall and the lining and 3/8 inch for all other seams, identical to the Government patterns, which shall not be altered in any way. Stitch, seam and stitching types specified in table II shall conform to FEDSTD-751. When two or m
40、ore methods of seaming or type of stitch are given for the same operation, any one of them may be used. Where stitch type 401 is used, the looper (underthread) shall be on the inside of the coverall. The gage of stitching for double-lapped, double-stitched seams shall be 1/4 to 5/16 inch. stitching
41、shall be 3/16 inch and the seaming row, when using safety stitching, shall be 3/16 inch from back edge of overedge stitch. and finish evenly. Seams required to be worked out, that have a fold of 1/16 inch or more in depth, shall be considered a defect. The gage of all overedge All seams shall start
42、c 3.6.1.2 Seam type. Seam types shall be as specified in table II with seam allowances maintained and seams properly sewn so that no raw edges, runoffs, twists, pleats, puckers, or open seams shall result. 3.6.1.3 Type 301 stitching. Ends of all stitching shall be backstitched or overstitched 1/4 in
43、ch minimum, except when caught in other stitching or turned under in a hem. loose stitching resulting in loose bobbin or top thread, or excessively tight stitching resulting in puckering of the materials sewn. The lock shall be embedded in the materials sewn. Thread tensin shall be maintained so tha
44、t there will be no 0 3.6.1.3.1 Repairs of type 301 stitching. Repairs of type 301 stitching shall be as follows: a. When thread breaks or bobbin run-outs occur during sewing, the stitching shall be repaired by restarting the stitching a minimum of 1/2 inch back of the end of the stitching. - 1/ b. T
45、hread breaks, two or more consecutive skipped or run-off stitches noted during inspection of the item (in-process or end item) shall be repaired by overstitching. The stitching shall start a minimum of 1/2 inch in back of the defective area, continue over the defective area, and continue a minimum o
46、f 1/2 inch beyond the defective area on to the existing stitching.
