2、EATED This specification is approved for use by all Departments and Agencies of the Department of Defense, 1. SCOPE AND CLASSIFICATION 1.1 Scope. This specification covers water-repellent lightweight nylon ballistic cloth having a specified minimum ballistic resistance. 1.2 classification. The cloth

REQUIREMEN

17、TS 3.1 First article. When specified (see 6.2), a sample shall be subjected to first article inspection (see 6.3), in accordance with 4.3, 3.2 Standard sample. The finished cloth shall match the standard sample for shade and appearance and shall be equal to or better than the standard sample with re

18、spect to all characteristics for which the standard is referenced (see 6.4). 3.3 Material. It is encouraged that recycled material be used when practical as long as it meets the requirements of this specification. 3.3.1 Nylon. The nylon shall be bright, extra high tenacity, continuous filament (see

19、6.9). 3.3.2 Yarn. The warp and filling yarns shall be nominal 840 denier, multi- filament nylon. 3.4 Color. - 3.4.1 Matching, The color of the finished cloth shall match the standard sample when viewed under filtered tungsten lamps that approximate artificial daylight and that have a correlated colo

20、r temperature of 7500 + 200K, with illumination of 100 + 20 foot candles, and shall be a good match under incandescent lamplight at 2300 - + 200K. 3 4.2 Color, class 1. The color of the class i finished cloth shall be natural. 3.4.3 Color, class 2. The color of the class 2 finished cloth shall be Ca

21、mouflage Green 483 unless otherwise specified (see 6.2). finished cloth shall match the standard sample and shall be obtained by piece dyeing using neutral premetallized dyes or neutral dyeing acid dyes, applied at a pH value consistent with the maximum temperature that can be maintained in the equi

22、pment used (see 6.7). The color of the 3.4.3.1 Colorfastness, class 2. The class 2 finished cloth shall show fastness to laundering (after 3 cycles), perspiration, and light (after 40 hours), equal to or better than the standard sample or equal to or better than a rating of “good“. The finished clot

The color of the class 3 finished cloth shall be the Woodland camouflage pattern obtained by roller or screen printing using four rollers or screens as appropriate for the Light Green 354, Dark Green 355, Brown 356, and Black 357 areas of the pattern (see 6.8.2)

25、. The dyeing of the ground shade approximating Light Green 354 shall be accomplished by using a combination of acid dyes and the printing shall be accomplished by using a combination of acid dyes as applicable (see 6.8.1). 3.4.4.1 Golorfastness, class 3. The clics 3 finished cloth shall show fastnes

26、s to laundering (after 3 cycles), perspiration, and light (after 40 hours), equal to or better than the standard sample or equal to or better than a rating of “good“ for each of the pattern areas. The finished cloth shall show fastness to crocking equal to or better than the standard sample or shall

27、 have an AATCC Chromatic Transference Scale rating of not lower than 3.5 for all the pattern areas except for Black 357 which shall have an AATCC Chromatic Transference Scale rating of not lower than 1.5. When carbon black is used alone or in combination with other dyes or black 357, the resistance

28、to frosting of the printed cloth shall be equal to or better than the standard sample. Testing shall be as specified in 4.4.3. 3.4.4.2 Pattern execution, class 3. The pattern shall reproduce the standard sample in respect to design, colors, and registration of the respective areas. The pattern repea

29、t of the dyed, printed, and finished cloth shall be 27.25 + 1.25 -2.50 inches in the warp direction. Each pattern area shall show solid coverage; skitteriness exceeding that shown by the standard sample in any of the printed areas will not be acceptable. When the standard sample is not referenced fo

30、r pattern execution or design, a pattern drawing shall be provided, and the pattern on the finished cloth shall match that of the drawing (see 2.1, 6.2, and 6.4). 3.4.4.3 Spectral reflectance, class 3. The spectral reflectance of each color for the hoodland camouflage printed finished cloth shall co

31、nform to the - requirements specified in table I, when tested as specified in 4.4.3. TABLE I. The finished cloth shall conform

34、to the physical requirements specified in table II when tested as specified in 4.4.3. TABLE II. The width of the finished cloth shall b

35、e as specified (see 6.2) and shall be the minimum acceptable width inclusive of the woven selvages when fly-shuttle looms are used and exclusive of the lock in selvages when shuttleless -looms are used, the cloth and shall not ravel when outward pull is exerted. The edges shall be firmly secured to

36、the body of . 3.6 Finish. The cloth shall be thoroughly scoured (see 6.51, heat-treated (see 6.6), and water-repellent treated, and shall be processed so as to meet the ballistic resistance requirements of this specification (see 3.10). 3.7 Water-repellency. The cloth shall be given an approved wate

The dynamic absorption of the finished cloth shall not exceed 20 percent when tested as specified in 4.4.3. 3.7.2 Resistance to organic liquid. The

38、 finished cloth shall not show wetting by n-dodecane when tested as specified in 4.4.3. 3.8 pH. The pH value of the water extract of the finished cloth shall be no less than 5.0 nor more than 8.5 when tested as specified in 4.4.3. I 3.9 Shrinkage. The finished cloth shall not shrink more than 3.0 pe

39、rcent in the warp and not more than 2.0 percent in the filling when tested as specified in 4.4.3, B 3.10 Ballistic resistance. The ballistic limit V50 for 16 layers of unbonded cloth shall be 1225 feet per second when using a 10 shot V50 with a maximum spread of 125 feet per second. Testing shall be

40、 as specified in 4.4.3. 3.11 Length and put-up. For Government procurements only, unless otherwise specified (see 6,2), the cloth shall be put-up in full width rolls as specified in 5.1. not more than two pieces. No single piece shall be less than 40 yards in length, Each roll shall be not less than

41、 80 yards in length and shall contain 3.12 Face identification, The face side of the cloth shall be identified by applying a stamping on that side of the cloth with the word “Face“ at each end of the roll. 3.13 Fiber identification. Each roll of the finished cloth shall be labeled or ticketed for fi

42、ber content in accordance with the Rules and Regulations Under the Textile Fiber Products Identification Act. 3.14 Workmanship. The finished cloth shall conform to the quality of product established by this specification. The demerit points per 100 square yards when calculated as specified in sectio

43、n 4 shall not exceed the applicable established maximum point values. 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements (examinations and te

44、sts) as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor may use his own or any other facilities suitable for the performance of the * inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The Government reserves the right to

46、ce. All items shall meet all requirements of sections 3 and 5. The inspection set forth in this specification shall become a part of the contractors overall inspection system or quality program. The absence of any inspection requirements in the specification shall not relieve the contractor of the r

47、esponsibility of ensuring that all products or supplies submitted to the Government for acceptance comply with all requirements of the contract, Sampling inspection, as part of manufacturing operations, is an acceptable practice to ascertain conformance to requirements, however, this does not author

48、ize submission of known defective material, either indicated or actual, nor does it commit the Government to accept defective material. 6 b,1.2 Certificates of compliance. When certificates of compliance are submitted, the Government reserves the right to inspect such items to determine the validity

49、 of the certification. 4 4.2 Classification of inspections. The inspection requirements specified herein are classified as follows: a. b. First article inspection (see 4.3) Quality conformance inspection (see 4.4) 4.3 First article inspection. When a first article is required (see 3.1 and 6.2), it shall be examined for the defects specified in 4.4.2.1 thru 4.4.2.4 and tested for the characteristics specified in table III. 4.4 Quality conformance inspection. 4.4.1 Component and material inspection. In accordance with 4.1, components and materials shall be .inspected in accord
