Nothing in this document, however, supersedes applicable laws and regulations unless a specific exemption has been obtained. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 First article. When specified
16、(see 6.21, a sample shall be subjected to first article inspection (see 6.3) in accordance with 4.3. 3.2 Guide samples. Guide samples, when furnished, are solely for guidance and information (see 6.4). the sample, in which case this specification shall govern. Variations from this specification may
17、appear in O 3.3 Materials and components. The materials shall be as specified herein and on Drawings 2-10-451 y 2-10-452, 2-10-453 y and 2-10-454. Materials and components not definitely specified .shall be of the quality normally used by the manufacturer provided the completed item complies with al
18、l the provisions of this specification. 3.3.1 Recycled materials. Recycled materials may be used in the fabrication of the cup provided that they meet the requirements of this specification. 3.4 Design and construction. The design and construction of the cup shall conform to Drawing 2-10-450 and the
19、 requirements specified herein. 3.4.1 Body. The body of the cup shall be fabricated of the corrosion- resisting steel specified on Drawing 2-10-451 and shall be of seamless construc- tion. The top edge shall be free of sharp edges, cracks, burrs, slivers, or rough surfaces. After forming, the vertic

21、.4.2 Handles. The handles shall be fabricated of corrosion-resisting steel and welded in accordance with Drawings 2-10-452 and 2-10-453. The welds of the handle shall withstand a minimum total force of 235 pounds when tested as speci- fied in 4.5.4 The handle shall conform to the design, dimension,
22、and detail requirements of Drawings 2-10-452 and 2-10-453. The handle shall fit snugly against the cup within 1/8 inch when folded and the right handle shall nest and lock into the left handle when in use. 3.4.3 Hinge, The hinge shall be fabricated of corrosion-resisting steel and shall conform to t
23、he design, dimension, and details specified on Drawing 2-10-454. The hinge shall be attached by spot welds or projection welds, shall be located on the cup, and shall be attached as shown on Drawing 2-10-450, The welds shall be free of splatter, burn holes, cracks or fractures, and discolor- ation a
24、nd shall be tightly joined when tested as specified in 4.5.1, 4.5.2, or 4.5.3, as applicable. The hinge shall be a close fit to the contour of the body and there shall be no gaps between edge of hinge and body greater than 1/64 inch. * 3.5 Finish, The cup shall be given a uniform frosted lusterless
25、finish approximating a commercial 2D sheet finish and passivated in accordance with QQ-P-35, There shall be no evidence of rust, staining, pitting, or spotting when tested as specified in 4.5.6. 3.6 Markinq. The letters US, the year of manufacture, and the manu- m facturers name or trademark shall b
26、e stamped on the hinge as shown on Drawing 2-10-451. 3.7 Workmanship. The cup shall conform to the quality of product established by this specification and the occurrence of defects shall not exceed the applicable acceptable quality levels, The finished cup shall be clean and free of any dent or bei
27、ng bent out of shape, stain, ripple, fracture, or die or draw mark. The handles and hinge shall also be free of any sharp edge, burr, or sliver. Indentation on the inside of cup due to welding of the hinge is acceptable providing the indentation is smooth and free from sharp edges, weld splatter, bu
28、rr, crack, or burn through area, and does not exceed 0.005 inch in depth. 4. QUAJiIT ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements (examinations an
29、d tests) as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor may use his own or any other facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The Government reserves the right

31、or compliance. All items shall meet all requirements of sections 3 and 5. become a part of the contractors overall inspection system or quality program. The absence of any inspection requirements in the specification shall not relieve the contractor of the responsibility of ensuring that all product
32、s or supplies submitted to the Government for acceptance comply with all requirements of the contract. Sampling inspection, as part of manufacturing operations, is an acceptable practice to ascertain conformance to requirements, however, this does not authorize submission of known defective material
33、, either indicated or actual, nor does it commit the Government to accept defective material, The inspection set forth in this specification shall 4.1.2 Responsibility for dimensional requirements. Unless otherwise speci- fied in the contract or purchase order, the contractor is responsible for ensu
34、ring that all specified dimensions have been met. When dimensions cannot be examined on the end item, inspection shaIl be made at any point, or at all points in the manufacturing process necessary to assure compliance with all dimensional requirements. 4.2 Classification of inspections. The inspecti
35、on requirements specified herein are classified as follows: a. First article inspection (see 4.3). b. Quality conformance inspection (see 4.4). 4.3 First article inspection. When a first article is required (see 6.2), it shall be examined for the defects specified in 4.4.3 and 4.4.4 and tested as sp
36、ecified in 4.5.2 through 4.5.6, as applicable. 4.4 Quality conformance inspection. Unless otherwise specified, sampling for inspection shall be performed in accordance with MIL-STD-105. 4.4.1 Component and material inspection. In accordance with 4.1, components and materials shall be inspected in ac
37、cordance with all the requirements of referenced documents unless otherwise excluded, amended, modified, or qualified in this specification or applicable purchase document. 4.4,2 In-process inspection. 4.4.2.1 In-process examination. In-process examination shall be made to establish conformance to t
38、he welding on wire handles requirements of Drawing 2-10-452 and 2-10-453. Whenever nonconformance is noted, correction shall be made to the applicable process and to all items processed. be corrected shall be removed from production. The spot or projection weld sample peel test shall be conducted on two test specimens per welding machine rather than sample cups.
40、 The spot or projection welding testing shall be performed as specified in 4.5.1 at the start of each days shifts production. Failure of test shall require correction of the welding process. 4.4.3 End item visual examination. The end items shall be examined for the defects listed in table I, The lot
41、 size shall be expressed in units of cups. The sample unit shall be one cup. The inspection level shall be II and the acceptable quality level (AQL), expressed in terms of defects per hundred units, shall be 2.5 for major defects and 6.5 for total (major and minor combined) defects. The end items shall be examined for conformance to the dimensions specified on drawings that can be determined on the end items without damaging or disassembling the end items. The end items shall be tested as specified in 4.5.2 or 4.5.3, 4.5.4, 4.5.5, and 4.5.6. The lot size shall be expressed in units of cups. The sample unit shall be one cup.
