When firing from a tank, the tanks recoil and mechanical fire control systems shall be inspected prior to tes

18、ting, Necessary repairs and replacements shall be.effected prior to initiation of testing. b, (U) The ballistic samples, when assembled as cartridges, shall be electrically fired using energy equivalent to the service tanks firing circuit, c. (U) Testing shall be conducted with 105MM, M68 gun tubes.

(U) Tubes used for all phases shall be inspected for adequacy prior to initiating eech firing

21、prpgram: 1. For the precision and cold tejpetaturelphase , the gun tube shall be inspected for adequacy by performing, at a minimum, pullover gaging and visual inspection. At nominal midlife, the gun tube used for this phase shall be borescoped and shall undergo complete stargage and magnetic par ti

22、 cle i ns pec t ions. 2; For the hot temperature and worn tbbe (First Article only) phases, the gun tubes utilized shall be inspection, pullover gaging and complete sFargage-and- borescope inspections. At nominal midlife -the tubes utilized for hot temperature testing shall be inspected for adequacy

23、 by performing rtiagnetic particle testing. e. (U) All gun tubes shall be inspected when unexpected occurrences, such as projectile breakup, cartridge case rupture, etc., are experienced during any of the test phases. Required -inspections after these instances shall include visual inspection, pullo

24、ver gaging and complete stmargage, borescope and magnetic particle i ns pec t i on . sample cartridges specified herein at a 20 foot by 20 foot (6.1 by 6.1 meters) target located 2000 meters from the gun muzzle. The target shall be made of a material approved by the technical agency. Targets used fo

28、ng from a fixed mount, odce ,the gun has been spotted on the target for a test or control group,. the elevation and deflection of the weapon shall remain the same for that test group. Changes in the muzzle aiming point from roud to round, shall be recorded -by adjusting settings on the boresight to

29、get back onto the original aiming mark. following firing procedures shall be utilized: J. (U) When firing from a service tank, the I 1, Boresight the weapan on the center of target and apply super elevation with quadrant. Fire spotter rounds to assure the weapon is zeroed on the target center. The q

After loading and locking a round in the chamber, the gun tube shall be traversed left of target center, dropped down below target center, traversed to the opposite side of target center, elevated to target center elevation, and traversed onto target center. 32、stance traversed and dropped should be sufficient to remove the backlash from the system. (U) Target impact dispersion testing shall be fired in the following manner: five control rounds followed by ten test rounds followed by five control rounds. For data analysis purposes, test and c

34、ontrol groups shall be broken down into five round groups where possible (group sizes will vary if test is truncated). The leftover rounds shall be fired as part of the next: group or as a new group as applicable, During dispersion testing from a service tank a maftimum of one minute shall elapse.from final sighti- until the round is fired, If more than a thirty minute lapse occurs between

37、 group firings, or if there was an indication of trend in the previous groups target impacts to move away from the center of the target, then the weapon shall be re-zeroed on target center using the procedures required to establish the original test conditions. be measured and recorded for each cart

Any abnormality of flight is to be described (cork screwing, tumbling, yaw, etc.), as well as target impact information (hit the target, short by 100 meters, left of

41、target, etc.) If a round misses the target with no abnormality of flight, a statement to that effect shoyld also be made. q. This shall include, as a minimum, wind velocities and wind directions at the gun tube, gun tube number, chamber

43、pressure, muzzle velocity, impact co-ordinates, misfire (see 3.4.6.1) and hangfire (see 3.46.2), standard deviation (vertical and horizontal dispersion in mils), maximum spread (vertical and horizontal dispersion in centimeters), center of impact for test and control groups and metal parts security.

44、 weather that may make observations inaccurate or otherwise gusts .5 knots greater than the surface crosswind speed exist. t. (U) In the event of adverse test conditions or failure of the control rounds to meet the requirements for the control round configuration when test rounds fail to meet the re
