This specification contains technical provisions for first article inspection. Requirements for sub
11、mission of first article samples by the contractor shall be as specified in the contract. 3.4 Workmanshie. All parts shall be fabricated and finished in a thorough, workmanlike manner. They shall be clean and free of burrs, sharp edges, unblended radii, cracks, surface defects, chips, dirt, grease,
12、dust and other foreign matter. The cleaning method used shall not be injurious to any part nor shall the parts be contaminated by the cleaning agent. The finished mix shall be uniform and free from lumps or the tendency to form lumps. 3.5 Moisture content. The moisture content of the smoke mix, in t
13、he sealed container, shall be 0.2% maximum. 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for inspection and standard quality assurance. Unless otherwise specified herein or in the contract, the provisions of MIL-A-48078 shall apply and are hereby made a part of this detail specification. 4.2 C
14、lassification of inspections. The following types of inspection shall be conducted on this item: a. First Article Inspection b. Quality Conformance Inspection 4.3 First article inspection. 4.3.1 Submission. The contractor shall submit a first article sample as designated by the Contracting Officer f

17、ling the contract. All parts and materials, including packaging and packing, shall be obtained from the same source of supply as will be used in regular production. Prior to submission, the contractor shall inspect the sample to the degree necessary to assure that it conforms the requirements of the
18、 contract and submit a record of this O inspection with the sample including statements of findings for materials, processes and tests. A sample containing known defects will not be submitted unless specifically authorized, by the Contracting Officer. A first article sample, or portion thereof, as d
19、irected by the Contracting Officer, shall also be submitted whenever there is a lapse in production for a period in excess of 90 days or whenever a change occurs in manufac- turing process,-material used, drawing or specification such as to significantly affect product uniformity as determined by th
20、e Government . 4.3.2 Inspections to be performed. The First Article parts submitted in accordance with paragraph 4.3.1 will be subjected by the Government to any or all the requirements of the - applicable drawings and specifications and to the inspections of Table I. 29、and testing of toxic or hazardous materials. Accordingly, it is emphasized that all applicable safety rules, regulations and procedures must be followed in handling and processing these materials. 4.4.3.1 Cmposition. 4.4.3.1.1 Batch inspection. Each batch (see 6.8) of smoke mix shall be inspected fo
30、r composition, if process inspection is not opted. Acceptance for this test shall be in accordance with MIL-STD-414, Table B-3, Inspection Level I, AQL 1.0%, with the inspection lot equal to each batch of mix. Lot size shall be the number of containers, f lo%, to be filled from the batch. The sample
31、s shall be drawn from filled bodies. Total percent defective shall be calculated for each constituent. If any of the constituents fail to meet the acceptability criterion, the batch shall be rejected. 4.4.3.1.2 Process inspection. 4.4.3.1.2.1 Process qualification. The initial batches (see 6.8) of s
32、moke mix from each blender to be used in production shall be tested for composition. Acceptance for this test shall be in accordance with MIL-STD-414, Table B-3, Inspection Level I, AQL leo%, with the inspection lot equal to each batch of mix. Lot size shall be the number of containers, - + lo%, to
33、be filled from the batch. The samples shall be drawn from filled %bodies. Total percent defective shall be calculated for each constituent. If any of the constituents fail to meet the acceptability criterion, the batch shall be rejected. The process shall be considered qualified when five consecutiv
34、e batches have been accepted from each blender to be used in production. 4.4.3.1.2.2 Process control. At the option of the contractor, process control may be substituted for batch inspection after qualification per 4.4.3.1.2.1. Process control shall be as follows: a, During process qualification, re
35、cord.the blender speed and blending time for each batch. b. If blending speed or time is outside the control limits, sample inspection for composition -of that batch shall be conducted per 4.4.3.1.1. If blen
37、ding speed or time must be adjusted to fall outside the control. limits, re-qualification shall be conducted per 4.4.3.1.2.1. Re-qualification shall also be required, if in the opinion of the Government, maintenance or repair to the blender or dispensing mechanism effects process control parameters.
38、 4.4.3.1.2.3 Verification. When process control is in effect, a verification inspection shall be conducted on one batch from each seven (7) batches from each blender. Sample batch inspection shall be per 4.4.3.1.1. If a sample batch is rejected, re-qualification of the process per 4.4.3.1.2.1 shall
39、be required before process control is resumed. 4.4.3.2 Moisture content. Each shifts production shall be tested for moisture content. Acceptance for this test shall be in accordance with MIL-STD-414, Table B-3, Inspection Level I, AQL 1.0%, with the inspection lot equal to each shifts loading. Lot s
40、ize shall be the number of containers, + lo%, to be filled and sealed during one production shift. The-samples shall be drawn from filled containers prior to sealing, If percent defective calculated fails to meet the acceptability criterion, the shift.s production shall be rejected. 4.4.4 Inspection
41、 equipment. Commercially available inspection equipment should be used in the performance of all tests specified in 4.4. The contractor shall have the required equipment available, follow proper calibration methods and perform the testing in accordance with accepted operating procedures. Government
42、approval of all inspection equipment is required prior to its use for acceptable purposes. See Section 6 of MIL-A-48078 and paragraph 6.3 herein. 4.5 Test methods and procedures (see 6.9). The following tests shall be performed using prescribed analytical procedures for replicate determinations give
43、n in standard analytical text books. ASTM Method D2905 may also be used to determine the number of replicates required. Unless otherwise specified herein, all chemicals and reagents used in test methods shall be ACS grade in accordance with MIL-STD-1218 or reagent grade. ? 14 Provided by IHSNot for

Into a tared 150 millilitre (mi) beaker accurately weigh to the nearest 0.0001 gram (8) approximately 3g of smoke composition. Add 40 ml of distilled water and continuouslv swir
45、l the contents of the beaker for 5 minutes. Allow the slid material to settle to the bottom of the beaker. Fit a Fisher Filtrator or equal with a clean glass medium porosity filtering crucible and a 250 ml beaker to receive the filtrate. Adjust the filtrator vacuum BO the filtrate does not splash ou
46、t of the receiver flask and decant the supernatant liquid from the 150 ml beaker through the crucible and into the 250 ml receiver beaker. Wash the solid to the bottom of the flask with a stream of distilled water (10 ml or less) and again swirl the contents of the 150 ml beaker for . two minutes. A
47、llow the residue to settle to the bottom of the beaker and decant the liquid through the filtering crucible into the 250 ml beaker. Wash the residue using this procedure two more times, transferring the solid residue to the filtering crucible on the final wash (quantitative transfer not necessary).
48、Rinse the crucible and crucible holder with a small amount of distilled water catching the rinse water in the 250 ml beaker. Transfer the filtrate and washings to a 100 ml volumetric flask, dilute to the mark with distilled water and mix thoroughly. Fill a 1.0 centimeter (cm) path length silica spectra photometric cell with the solution from the volumetric flask and fill the matching cell with distilled water. Using the distilled water as the blank, measure the absorbance of the solution at 301 nanometer (nm) using a Beckman Model DU Spectroph
