2、r use by the U.S. Army 1. SCOPE 1.1 Scope. This specification covers the requirements, ex- aminations and tests for repairable braided shielded, flexible cable assemblies. 2. In the event of conflict between the 0 text of this document and the references cited herein the text of this document takes precedence. Nothing in this document, however, supersedes applicable laws and regulations unless a specific
13、 exemp- tion has been obtained. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Materials. Materials shall be in accordance with the ap- plicable drawings and specifications. 3.1.1 Construction and assembly. The completed cable assembly shall conform to the following construction and assembly require- ments. 3.1.1.1 Wiring. Ro
14、uting wiring and cable breakouts of the as- sembly shall be in accordance with the applicable cable drawing. 3.1.1.2 Vapor barrier. As specified on the applicable drawing, each cable assembly shall be spiral wrapped with a 25% minimum over- lap utilizing either metallized vapor barrier wrap (metal s
15、ide in contact with the braid) in accordance with 11834405, or tape per specification MIL-1-631. 3.1.1.3 Braid requirements. Each cable assembly shall be protected as specified by applicable drawing with either a single or a double braid shield to form a braid pattern in accordance with MIL-C-7078 a
16、nd shall exhibit a minimum coverage of 95% in accordance with applicable braiding drawings. The braid shall be tin coated copper wire. Braiding shall be continuous and free from any splices. 3 confo cable .1.1.3.1 Braid coveraqe. Braiding for measured diameter shall rm to data supplied in applicable
17、 braiding drawings. Actual core diameter shall be determined during manufacturing. One or two layers of braiding shall be used in cable construction per applicable assembly drawing. The wire braid shall have the number of carriers and ends shown in drawing. Shield coverage for each layer of braid (a

Heat shrinkable polychloroprene shall be in accordance with MIL-I-23053/1, class 2 and also as specified in the applicable assembly drawing. 3.1.1.5 Fittinqs. Thermofit boots and transitions shall con- form to the requirements of MIL-1-81765. Themofit t
21、ubing shall be in accordance with MIL-I-23053/1, class 2 and also as specified in the applicable assembly drawing. 3.2 Components and assemblies. The components and assemblies shall comply with all requirements specified on applicable drawings, all associated drawings, and with all requirements spec
22、ified in ap- plicable specifications and standards. Where applicable, the cable assembly shall meet the requirements of MIL-F-13926 and MIL-M-81531, where applicable, as follows: a. Dimensions and tolerances b. Inorganic protective surface finishings c. Part identification and marking d. Workmanship
23、 3.3 Environmental service condition. 3.3.1 Vibration. The cable assembly shall not suffer damage . and shall meet the requirements of 3.4 and 3.5 herein after being subjected to the vibration tests per MIL-STD-810, Method 514, Procedure 1, Category 8. The vibration test shall be continuous for 2 ho
24、urs along each of three mutually perpendicular axes. The vibra- tion shall be equivalent to track-laying vehicle operational vibration as defined by MIL-STD-810 narrowband random-on-random data for equipment installed on the deck of the M113 armored personnel carrier. Rigid mount connectors and junc
25、tion hardware to vibration table and coil cable into same diameter specified for cold bend test (MIL-C-27500, Table IX) and suspend above table. 3.3.2 Temperature. 3.3.2.1 Operating. The cable assembly shall meet the require- ments of 3.4 and 3.5 when stabilized thermally at any temperature between
26、-40 degrees C and +49 degrees C. 3.3.2.2 Non-operatinq (storaqel. The cable assembly shall not suffer permanent damage when subjected to the constant temperature extremes of -40 degrees C for a period of 24 hours and +71 degrees C for a period of 4 hours (after temperature stabilization), and shall

The cable assembly shall meet the requirements of 3.4 and 3.5 after exposure to an atmosphere with a rel
28、ative humidity in excess of 95% for a period of 10 days. 3.3.4 Cold bend. The insulation, rubber jacket, tubing, boots, transitions, and ink markings shall not crack or suffer damage when tested as specified in cold bend test on MIL-C-27500 at a tempera- ture of -55 C 2 5 C. 3.3.5 Pull. The cable as
29、sembly shall meet the requirements of 3.4 and 3.5, after being subjected to the pull test as specified in 3.4 Electrical. Each conductor of the cable assembly shall be MIL-C-3885. electrically continuous between the correct terminations as specified on the schematic diagram of the applicable cable a
30、ssembly. There shall be no indication of discontinuity when each basic wire is subjected to a continuity test of 0.1 Adc with a maximum voltage drop of .O3 Vdc with the load applied. 3.5 Performance. 3.5.1 Time domain reflectometer (TDR). There shall be no reflection of greater than 200 MP peak ampl

Time domain reflectometer test. 3.5.2 Dielectric withstandinq voltage. The cable assembly shall be tested in accordance with MIL-ST
32、D-202, Method 301, except that the test voltage will be 1000 Vdc for cable, shielded and un- shielded, and a test voltage of 500 vdc for coax and triax cables. 5 Licensed by Information Handling ServicesMIL-C-70954 999990b L845b07 bT8 MIL-C-70954 (AR) 3.5.3 Insulation resistance. The cable assembly
33、shall exhibit accordance with MIL-STD- a minimum of i00 mega-ohms when tested in 202, Method 302, test condition B. 3.6 IDENTIFICATION 3.6.1 Marking All parts shall be m MIL-M-81531. rked in accordance with 3.6.2 Markinq durability. The markings on the cable assembly shall be legible and durable und
34、er all conditions when subjected to 3.3 (Environmental Service Conditions). 3.6.3 Suppliers trademark or symbol. Mark or symbol may also be used for orientation marking. 3.6.4 Cable marker application. Mark cable number, part number and manufacturing date on cable marker to appear along horizontal a
35、xis. Cut cable marker length to overlap cable circumference by 10%. Wrap cable marker snug around cable and press overlap in posi- tion approximately as shown on drawing without obscuring data. Use heat gun to fuse marker to cable. 3.7 First article. When specified in the contract or purchase order,
36、 a sample shall be subjected to first article inspection in accordance with the technical provisions herein (see 4.3). 3.8 Solderinq. All soldering shall be in accordance with the requirements of Note 2 of Drawing 12590877. 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for inspection. Unless ot
37、herwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements (examinations and tests) as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor may use his own or any other facilities
38、suitable for the performance of the inspection re- quirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in this specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to ensure supplies and services confor
39、m to prescribed re- quirements. 4.1.1 Responsibility for compliance. All items shall meet all requirements of Sections 3 and 5. The inspection set forth in this spcification shall become a part of the contractors overall in- spection system or quality program. The absence of any inspection requireme
40、nts in the specification shall not relieve the contractor of the responsibility of ensuring that all products or supplies sub- mitted to the Government for acceptance comply with all requirements of the contract. Sampling inspection, as part of manufacturing operations, is an acceptable practive to

MIL-C-70954 (AR) defective material, either indicated or actual, nor does it commit the Gover
42、nment to accept defective material. the provisions of MIL-F-13926 apply and form a part of this specification. Reference shall be made to MIL-STD-109 to define quality assurance terms used herein. 4.1.2. General provisions. Unless otherwise specified herein, 4.2 Classification of inspections. The in
43、spection requirements specified herein are classified as follows: a. First article inspection (see 4.3). b. Quality conformance inspection (see 4.4). c. Special sampling inspection (see 4.5) (if required). 4.2.1 Inspection conditions. Unless otherwise specified, all examinations and tests shall be c
44、onducted at the following standard ambient conditions: a. Temperature b. Relative humidity c. Pressure +16 deg to +32 deg C 90% RH Max. 700 to 815 mmHg 4.3.1 Submission. The contractor shall submit a first article sample as designated by the Contracting Officer for evaluation in accordance with prov
45、isions of 4.3.2. The first article sample shall consist of the assemblies, components and test specimens listed below in the quantities indicated. 4.3.2 Inspections to be performed. As determined by the Government, the first article assemblies, components and test specimens may be subjected to any o
46、r all of the examinations and tests specified in Table I herein and be inspected for compliance with any or all requirements of the applicable drawings. 4.3.3 Rejection. If any assembly, component or test specimen fails to comply with any of the applicable requirements, the first article sample shal
47、l be rejected. The Government reserves the right to terminate inspection upon any failure of an assembly, component or test specimen to comply with any of the requirements.
