SCOPE 1.1 Scope. This specification covers the requirements for Adapter, Pri

2、ming: MlA5. 2. APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS 2.1 General. The documents listed in this section are specified in sections 3 and 4 of this specification. This section does not include documents in other sections of this specification or recommended for additional information or as examples. While every effort

9、cedence. Unless otherwise noted herein or in the contract, in the event of a conflict between the text of this document and the references cited herein, the text of this document takes precedence. Nothing in this document, however, supersedes applicable laws and regulations unless a specific exempti

10、on has been obtained. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Required inspections. 3.1.1 Physical configuration audit. When specified (see 6.2), a sample shall be subjected to a physical configuration audit in accordance with 4.2. 3.1.2 First article. When specified (see 6.2), a sample shall be subjected to first arti

11、cle inspection in accordance with 4.3. 3.1.3 Conformance. A sample shall be subject to conformance inspection in accordance with 4.4. 3.2 Materials, components and assemblies. 3.2.1 Priming adapter. The priming adapter shall conform to drawing 13021902. 3.3 Ammunition lot numbering. Ammunition lot n

12、umbers shall be assigned in accordance with MIL-STD-1168. 3.4 Workmanship. All parts and assemblies shall be clean and free of burrs, chips, sharp edges, cracks, crazes, unblended radii, porosity, warping, burn marks, checks, blisters, excess Provided by IHSNot for ResaleNo reproduction or networkin

13、g permitted without license from IHS-,-,-MIL-DTL-417H 3 flash, dirt, grease, visible raised cement seams, projecting ridges at the dividing line of the mold, and other defects and foreign matter which would affect their serviceability. The cleaning method used shall not be injurious to any part or a

14、ssembly nor shall the cleaning agent contaminate them. All required markings shall be neat and sharply defined. External threads shall be full, complete and undamaged for their entire length. 4. The verification requirements specified herein are classified as follows: a. Physical configuration audit (see

17、 paragraph 4.2) b. First article (see paragraph 4.3) c. Conformance (see paragraph 4.4) 4.2 Physical configuration audit (PCA). When specified, a sample shall be submitted to Physical Configuration Audit (PCA). 4.2.1 PCA quantity. The PCA shall consist of 100% verification of all requirements of dra

18、wings 13021902 and all of their components, assemblies, subassemblies, materials and components. Not less than five (5) samples of each component, etc. for all requirements shall be verified. 19、7H 4 4.2.2 PCA rejection. If any item of the sample fails to comply with the PCA requirements, the sample shall be rejected. 4.3 First article. When specified, a sample shall be subjected to first article verification. 4.3.1 First article quantity. First article inspection shall be performed on the

20、quantities listed in Table II. 4.3.2 First article rejection. If any item of the sample fails to comply with the first article requirements, the sample shall be rejected. TABLE II. Lot formation shall be in accordance with the lot formation requirements of MIL-STD-1916. 4.4.3 Classification of characteristics. a. For the conform

24、ance inspection paragraph 4.4.3.1, the definitions of critical, major and minor defects are provided in paragraph “Definitions” of MIL-STD-1916. b. Inspection sampling requirements for critical, major and minor characteristics are defined in MIL-STD-1916. Unless specified otherwise, Verification Lev

30、rify that an ammunition lot number has been assigned to each lot as described in MIL-STD-1168. 4.6 Workmanship. All parts and assemblies shall be verified by visual inspection. Evidence of said workmanship defects shall be cause for lot rejection. 5. PACKAGING 5.1 Packaging. For acquisition purposes

31、, the packaging requirements shall be as specified in the contract or order (see 6.2). When packaging of materiel is to be performed by DoD or in-house contractor personnel, these personnel need to contact the responsible packaging activity to ascertain packaging requirements. Packaging requirements

32、 are maintained by the Inventory Control Points packaging activities within the Military Service or Defense Agency, or within the military services system commands. Packaging data retrieval is available from the managing Military Departments or Defense Agencys automated packaging files, CD-ROM produ

NOTES 6.1 Intended use. The M1A5 priming adapter is used to simplify the priming of military demolition explosives having thre

34、aded cap wells, and using Army special blasting caps, both electric and non-electric. 6.2 Acquisition requirements. Acquisition documents should specify the following: a. Title, number and date of this specification. b. Requirements for physical configuration audit. c. Requirements for first article

35、. d. Requirements for conformance. e. Requirements for ammunition lot numbering, if applicable. f. Requirement for Acceptance Inspection Equipment (AIE) designs. g. Certificate of conformance for each lot or shipment of product. h. When shipping adapters from more than one lot are shipped as a carlo

36、ad, each lot should be kept separate and the division between lots clearly indicated to prevent mixing of the lots in transit. 6.3 Submission of inspection equipment designs for approval. Equipment designs as required per the Contract Data Requirements Lists (DD Form 1423) should be sent to U.S. Arm

37、y RDECOM-ARDEC, ATTN: RDAR-QEM-G, Picatinny, New Jersey 07806-5000. 6.4 Dimensional control of molded parts. This paragraph applies to an alternate method of dimensional control to those dimensions which are considered “as molded”, and which do not undergo subsequent operations. In place of normal s

38、ampling and inspections associated with the Classifications of Defects, and with the approval of the Contracting Officer, and after a curing time for the parts has been approved, a sample of five (5) parts (as molded) from each cavity should be inspected dimensionally to qualify a new or reworked ca

39、vity for use in production. The molded parts should carry the individual cavity identification when more than one cavity is used in production. As a control of each cavity during production, the above quantity of parts from each cavity should be inspected for the dimensional defects listed in paragr

40、aph 4.4.3.1 after continuous production of each 5,000 parts or at the end of each week, whichever occurs first. Of the five (5) samples, one (1) sample should be the last part produced. If any defective parts are found during qualification of the cavity, the cavity producing the defective parts shou

41、ld not be used in production. If any defective parts are found when inspection is performed for the control of the cavity, the cavity producing the defective part should be removed from production. Further, that portion of production since the last control check should be returned to the contractor

42、for inspection for each separate type of defect. All cavities removed from production because of some fault, may, after reworking, be returned to production providing they pass the qualification test above. The contractor may request a change in inspection frequency providing they present objective

43、evidence to the contracting officer to substantiate the request. 6.4.1 Curing time. The curing time should be established by checking ten (10) parts from each cavity at periodic intervals (e.g., every 30 min, 60 min, etc.), until dimensional stability is attained. The curing time should be from the

The inspection data used in determining the curing time should be sent to U.S. Army RDECOM-ARDEC, ATTN: RDAR-Q

45、EM-G, Picatinny, New Jersey 07806-5000. If there is a change in material, cycle time, or if a cavity is reworked, or a new cavity is used, a new curing time should be established and approved. 6.5 Subject term (key word) listing.
