3、se by all Departments and Agencies of the Department of Defense. 1. SCOPE 1.1 Scope. This specification covers a group of airdrop container kits required for use in the airdrop system. 1.2 Classification. Container kits for airdrop shall be of the following types and load capacities as specified. Sp

4、ecific components may be procured separately (see 6.2): Types Load Capacity A-7A, Sling 500 pounds A-21, Bag 500 pounds A-22, Bag 2200 pounds A-23, Container, High Altitude 2200 pounds 2. APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS 2.1 General. The documents listed in this section are cited in sections 3 and 4 of this spe

5、cification. These lists do not include documents cited in other sections of this specification or recommended for additional information or as examples. While every effort has been made to ensure the completeness of these lists, document users are cautioned that they must meet all specified requirem

In the event of a conflict between the text of this document and the references cited herein (except for related associated specifications or

12、specification sheets), the text of this document takes precedence. Nothing in this document, however, supersedes applicable laws and regulations unless a specific exemption has been obtained. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 First article. When specified (see 6.2), a sample shall be subjected to a first article

Materials shall conform to the requirements of the applicable Technical Data Package (TDP), to subsidiary specifications and standards a

14、pplicable thereto and as specified herein. 3.2.1 Recycled, recovered, or environmentally preferable materials. Recycled, recovered, or environmentally preferable materials should be us ed to the maximum extent possible provided the materials meet or exceed the operational requirements, and promote e

15、conomically advantageous life cycle costs. 3.3. Construction. The construction shall conform in all respects to the applicable drawings and all subsidiary drawings pertaining thereto and as specified herein. 3.3.1 Type 301 stitching. Ends of all type 301 stitching shall be backstitched or overstitch

16、ed not less than inch in accordance with the required stitch pattern. 3.3.1.1 Repairs of type 301 stitching. Repairs of type 301 stitching shall be as follows: a. When thread breaks or bobbin run-outs occur during the stitching, the stitching shall be repaired by restarting the stitching a minimum o

17、f 1 inch (1/2 inch for box-x and W-W stitching) from the end of the stitching. 1/ b. Thread breaks or two or more consecutive skipped or run-off stitches noted during inspection of the item (in-process or end item) shall be repaired by overstitching. The stitching shall start a minimum of 1 inch fro

18、m the defective area, (1/2 inch for box-x and W-W stitching), continue over the defective area, and continue a minimum of 1 inch (1/2 inch for box-x and W-W stitching) beyond the defective area onto the existing stitching. Loose or excessively tight stitching shall be repaired by removing the defect

19、ive stitching without damaging the materials, and restitching in the required manner. 1/ 1/ When making the above repairs, the ends of the stitching are not required to be backstitched. 3.3.2 Automatic stitching. Automatic stitching machines may be used to perform any of the required stitch patterns

20、 provided the requirements for the stitch pattern, stitches per inch, and size and type of thread are met, and at least three or more tying, overlapping, or back stitches are used to secure the ends of stitching. 3.4 Cotton tape and webbing. 3.4.1 Wax-dipping. All ends of cotton tape and webbing, wh

21、ich will be exposed in the finished item, shall be dipped a minimum of inch in a 50-50 mixture of beeswax and paraffin. During the dipping operation, the temperature of the wax mixture shall be maintained at 180F + 20F. 3.4.2 Searing. All exposed ends of nylon webbing and cord shall be seared smooth

22、 and even. 3.5 Marking. Unless otherwise specified herein or on the drawings, all marking on container kits or components shall conform to type IV, class 11 of MIL-DTL-32075, except that fastness to Provided by IHSNot for ResaleNo reproduction or networking permitted without license from IHS-,-,-MIL

23、-DTL-7554G 4 accelerated laundering shall not apply. In lieu thereof, marking shall show fair fastness to weathering after 40 fading hours when tested in accordance with DDD-L-20. 3.6 Workmanship. All components and assemblies of the container kits shall be free from dirt, grease, oil or other forei

24、gn matter. External surfaces shall be free from sharp edges or burrs. Components shall not be fractured, cracked, buckled, loose, dented, missing, malformed or misaligned. Seams and stitching shall be free of needle damage (cuts or chews), omitted and unrelated stitching, open and broken seams and l

25、oose threads. The end item shall conform to the quality of product established by this specification. 4. VERIFICATION 4.1 Classification of Inspections. The inspection requirements specified herein are classified as follows: a. First article inspection (see 4.2). b. Conformance inspection (see 4.3).

26、 4.2 First article inspection. First article inspection shall be performed on one complete container assembly, unless otherwise stated in the contract, when a first article sample is specified (see 3.1). The inspection shall include the examinations of 4.3.1, 4.3.2, 4.4, and 4.5. Any defect or nonco

27、nformance shall be cause for rejection of the first article. 4.3 Conformance inspection. Conformance inspections shall include the examinations of 4.3.1, 4.3.2, 4.4 and 4.5. Sampling plans and acceptance/rejection criteria for 4.4 and 4.5 shall be as specified in the contract or purchase order. Asse

28、mblies which fail the acceptance criteria shall be cause for rejection of the lot. 4.3.1 Component and material inspection. Components and materials shall be inspected in accordance with all of the requirements of reference documents unless otherwise excluded, amended, modified, or qualified in this

29、 specification or applicable purchase document. 4.3.2 In-process inspection. Inspection of subassemblies shall be made to ascertain that construction details and dimensional requirements, which cannot be examined in the finished product, are in accordance with specified requirements. The Government

30、reserves the right to exclude from consideration of acceptance any material or service for which in-process inspection has indicated nonconformance. 4.4 End item visual examination. The end items shall be examined for the defects listed in table I. Any nonconformance to the Technical Data Package (T

Any dimension not within the specified tolerance shall be classified as a defect. 5. PACKAGING 5.1 Packaging. For acquisition

41、 purposes, the packaging requirements shall be as specified in the contract or order (see 6.2). When actual packaging of material is to be performed by DoD personnel, these personnel need to contact the responsible packaging activity to ascertain requisite packaging requirements. Packaging requireme

Packaging data

43、retrieval is available from the managing Military Departments or Defense Agencys automated packaging files, CD-ROM products, or by contacting the responsible packaging activity. 6. NOTES 6.1 Intended use. The container kits are intended for use in the airdrop of miscellaneous equipment and bulky sup

44、plies from aircraft in flight to ground. 6.2 Acquisition requirements. Acquisition documents should specify the following: a. Title, number, and date of this specification. b. Type of airdrop container kit required (see 1.2). c. Issue of DODISS to be cited in the solicitation, and if required, the s

45、pecific issue of individual documents referenced (see 2.1.1). d. When a first article is required (see 3.1). e. Sampling plan (see 4.3). f. Packaging requirements (see 5.1). g. Components, when procured separately (see 6.3). 6.3 Components. The following components may be procured separately: Quick
