1、1. SCOPE 1.1 This specification covers one type of time and superquick fuze for use with 4.2- inch mortar HE shell. 2. APPLICABLE SPECIFICATIONS, STANDARDS, DRAWINGS, AND PUBLI- CATIONS 2.1 The following drawing and all drawings and specifications referenced ,thereon, of the issue in effect on date
2、of invitation for bids, form a part of this specification: DRAWINGS ORDNANCE CORPS 73-3-181-Fuze, Time And Superquick, M5, Assembly. (Copies of specifications and drawings required by contractors in connection with specific procurement functions should be obtained from the procuring agency or as dir
3、ected by the contracting officer.) 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Material,-Materials and parts shall be in accordance with applicable drawings and specifications. 3.2 The fuze shall meet all requirements specified on the drawing and in applicable specifications. 3.3 Proving ground.-The fuzes shall cause the s
4、hell to burst with high order detonation when fired for air burst at the specified fuze setting. A lot of fuzes will be considered to meet this requirement if samples selected and tested in accordance with 4.5 meet the acceptance provisions prescribed therein. 3.4 Workmanship. 3.4.1 All parts shall
5、be free of chips, dirt, grease and other foreign material. The clean- ing method used shall not be injurious to any of the parts nor shall the parts be contami- nated by the cleaning agents used. 3.4.2 The painting and coating shall be restored by the loading contractor on any components furnished t
6、o him painted and coated when such painting and coatings have been marred or obliterated. 4. 7、ecification was approved by the Departments of the Amy, the Num, ad the Air Force far the use of procurement sew*ces of the respective Departmsnts. O 4.1 LoL-A lot shall consist of 25,000 fuzes, maximum. A smaller quantity may constitute a lot at the discretion of the inspector. Two thousand plus or
8、 minus 500 shall constitute the first lot manufactured on any contract except when a new contract immediately fol- lows the manufacture of satisfactory material of the character. Twenty fuzes shall be selected from each lot for tests as speci- fied in 4.5. Sampling of component materials is prescribed in parag
10、raphs covering tests of the component material. 4.3 InspectioniInspection shall be as specified in Specification MIGG-2550. 4.4 Determination of binder-lubricant con- tent of tetryl booster charge.-The binder- lubricant content of the tetryl to be used in the booster charge shall be determined on ea
11、ch lot or sublot at the time of loading. Ap- proximately 8 ounces shall be selected by the inspector. The binder-lubricant content shall be analyzed as follows: 4.4.1 Procedure.-Transfkr a weighed por- tion of approximately 5 grams (gms.) of the sample selected as indicated above to a tared filterin
12、g crucible and extract with four 10- milliliter (mi.) portions of acetone, maintain- ing each portion in contact with the residue for approximately 5 minutes befre applying suction, breaking up any lumps which may persist and washing down the sides of the crucible with each 10-ml. portion of acetone
13、 to insure complete removal of the tetryl. Aspirate the residue until the odor of ace- tone is no longer detectable and dryat 100“ to 105“ C. for one hour. Calculate the weight of residue as percentage of binder-lubricant in the sample. 4.4.2 Retest,-If the analysis indicates that the binder-lubrica
14、nt content exceeds the per- centage prescribed on the drawing by not * more than 0.25, the lot r sublot of tetryl may be reblended and resubmitted for test. If in theretest the analysis indicates that the binder-lubricant content still exceeds the per- centage prescribed on the drawing or if in the
