16、ble laws and regulations unless a specific exemption has been obtained. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Guide samples. information (see 6.3). in which case the document shall govern. 17、When specified in the contract or purchase order, a sample shall be subjected to first article inspection (see 4.3, 6.2, and 6.5). 3.2 Materials (see 6.6). 3.2.1 Cloth, duck, nylon. The nylon duck cloth shall be dyed Olive Green 106 and shall conform to type III, class 3 of MIL-C-7219, except the re

18、quirement for water resistance after dry cleaning shall not apply. The dimensional stability shrinkage requirement shall be 3.5 maximum and the air permeability requirement shall be 4.0 maximum. 3.2,2 Cloth, coated, nylon, polyurethane double coated. The coated cloth for the throat shall conform to

19、type 1 of MIL-C-43906. 3.2.3 Webbing, nylon. 3.2.3.1 Webbing, 2-1/4 inch width. The 2-1/4 inch webbing shall be dyed Olive Drab 7 and shall conform to type VIIIc of MIL-W-4088. 3.2.3.1.1 Treatment. The type VIIIc webbing shaIl be resin impregnated conforming to class R treatment of MIL-W-27265. 3 Pr

The 1 inch nylon webbing shall be dyed Olive Drab 7 and shall conform to type III of MIL-W-43668. 3.2.3.3 Webbing, 3/4 inch width. Th

21、e 3/4 inch nylon webbing shall be dyed Olive Drab 7 and shall conform to type IV of MIL-W-43668 or type Ia of MIL-W-4080. 3.2.4 Tape, nylon. The nylon tape shall be dyed Olive Drab 7 and shall conform to type III, 1 inch width of MIL-T-5038. 3.2.5 Thread, polyester. The polyester thread shall confor

22、m to type I, class 1, sub-class B of V-T-285. Sizes shall be as follows: For all stitching except overedging, bartacking, and binding Size F For overedging, bartacking, and binding Size E 3.2.5.1 Color. The thread shall be dyed Olive Drab S-1 (C.A. 66022) and shall show good fastness to weathering.

23、3.2.6 Film, polyethylene, unsupported, flexible. The film shall conform to the requirements for 0,0060 inch thick film; type I; class 1; grade A, B, or C; finish 1 of L-P-378 except that the film thickness shall be 0,020 inch, water vapor transmission, impact resistance, slip, and heat seal strength

24、 tests are not required. The 3.2.7 Keeper with slide, The keeper with slide shall conform to type X of MIL-H-9890. 3.2.8 Buckle, non-slip. The buckle shall conform to type V, class 3, 1 inch of MIL-B-543. 3.2.9 Eyelet, aluminum. The aluminum eyelet shall conform to dash number ABE131 of MIL-E-20652/

25、1. 3.2.10 Fastener tape, hook and pile, nylon. The nylon tape fasteners shall be 1 inch wide, OG 106 conforming to type II, class 1 of MIL-F-21840. 3.2.11 Dee rings. The dee rings shall conform to class 1, configuration A, 25/32 inch by 3/8 inch of MIL-R-3390 3.3 Construction. The construction shall

26、 conform in all respects to the drawings listed in 2.1 and as specified herein. 3.3.1 Stitches, seams and stitching. Stitch type 301, 8 to 10 stitches per inch. For overedge stitching, (single Stitch type 503 or 504, 8 to 10 operation optional)

28、3/16 to 1/4 stitches per inch. inch gage. For closing seams and overedge stitching (simultaneous operation optional), type 301 or 401 in combination with 503, 504, or 602, with 8 to 10 stitches per inch may be used. All edges of closing seams on the nylon duck including the dart in the flap shall be

29、 overedged stitched together. 3.3.1.1 Type 301 stitching. Ends of all stitching shall be backstitched or overstitched 1/2 inch minimum except when caught in other stitching or turned under in a hem. Thread tensions shall be maintained so that there will be no loose stitching resulting in puckering o

30、f the materials sewn. The lock shall be embedded in the materials sewn. 3.3.1.1.1 Repairs of type 301 stitching. Repairs of type 301 stitching shall be as follows: a. When thread breaks or bobbin run-outs occur during sewing, the stitching shall be repaired by restarting the stitching a minimum of 1

31、 inch back of the end of the stitching, - i/ b. Thread breaks or two or more consecutive skipped or run-off stitches noted during inspection of the item (in-process or end item) shall be repaired by overstitching. The stitching shall start a minimum of 1 inch in back of the defective area (1/2 inch

32、on box, box-x and W-W stitching) and continue a minimum of 1 inch beyond the defective area on to the existing stitching. Loose or excessively tight stitching shall be repaired by removing the defective stitching, without damaging the materials, and restitching in the required manner. L/ - i/ When m

33、aking the above repairs, the ends of the stitching are not required to be backstitched. 3.3.1.2 Types 401 stitching. Thread tension shall be maintained so that there will be no loose stitching. Both ends of all seams or stitching produced with 401 stitch type, when not turned under in a hem or held

34、down by other stitching, shall have a 1/2 to 3/4 inch chain extending beyond each end. looper (underthread) shall be hidden between the cover and lining assembly. Thread tension shall be maintained so that there will be no loose stitching. All repairs shall be in accordance with 3.4.1

36、.1.la and 3.4.1.1.lbY except substitute 3/4 inch for 1 inch wherever 1 inch appears. NOTE: The above should be included in all documents which require the use of 401 stitching in the table of manufacturing operations or on drawings. 3.3.1.4 Bartacking. Unless otherwise specified, bartacks shall be 3

37、/4 - + 1/16 inch in length, and 1/8 + 1/32 inch wide, and shall contain 42 stitches. Bartacking shall be free-from thread breaks and loose stitching. 3.3.1.5 Automatic stitching. Automatic machines may be used to perform any of the stitch patterns provided the requirements of stitch pattern, stitche

38、s per inch, and size and type of thread are met; and at least three or more tying, over-lapping, or back stitches are used to secure the ends of the stitching. 3.3.1.6 Thread ends, All thread ends that are visible on the finished item shall be trimmed to 1/4 inch maximum length. 3.3.1.7 Lubrication

39、of thread. There shall be no lubrication of the thread by any means, prior to or during sewing (see 4.4.1.1). 3.3.2 Setting of eyelets. A holes shall be prepunched before inserting the eyelets. The hole shall be smaller than the outside diameter of the eyelet barrel so that the barrel must be forced

40、 through the hole. The eyelet shall be securely clinched without splitting in a manner that will prevent detachment from or cutting of the adjacent material. Unless otherwise specified, the washer may be on either side of components on which installed. 3.3.2.1 Eyelets, aluminum. The aluminum eyelets

41、 specified in 3.2.9 shall be installed using score setting dies conforming to J. C. Rhodes part number 1-KW- 1KL and 101Y-Klom, or Stimpson Co. Part Number A 2744-7 or equal (see 6.4). The eyelet shell be securely set in a manner that will prevent detachment from or cutting of, the surrounding mater

42、ial. The clinched portion of the eyelet shall be on the inside of the assembly, Prior to use of the “or equal“ item, the contractor shall submit the item to the contracting officer with supporting data for approval. 3.3.3 Fusing of ends of nylon cord, webbing and tape. All ends of nylon cord, webbin

43、g and tape shall be fused. The apparatus used to fuse the cord, webbing and tape ends shall be capable of providing sufficient heat to provide a smooth edge and with the cut ends of the cord, webbing and tape yarns all fused together. Fusing of the cord, webbing and tape ends shall be accomplished p

44、rior to being assembled for stitching. 3.3.4 Location marks. Location marks shall not be drilled. Printed markings shall not be more than 1/32 inch in width. 45、 7. MI L-F-4399 7A( GL) 3.3.5 Finishing of throat. One pleat, up to 1/2 inch wide, will be allowed for “take-up“ of excess material when attaching the throat. 3.3.6 Instruction sheet. A paper instruction sheet, to be furnished by the contractor, shall be placed in each field pack (see 5.1.1). shall

46、be approximately 8 by 14 inches and shall conform to type IV of U-P-121. The information on the instruction sheet shall be printed in black characters 1/16 inch minimum height and shall be as follows: The paper sheet ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS FOR INDIVIDUAL LIGHTWEIGHT LOAD-CARRYING EQUIPMENT (Pack on B

47、elt) 1. Adjust Individual Equipment Belt. Adjust belt around waist, loose enough that it does not constrict the clothing, by engaging hooks at each end in center row of eyelets. Move a keeper next to each hook to prevent unfastening and move other keeper against buckle component at each end to keep

48、in position. 2. Attach Field Pack to Belt. Lay belt out flat, inside up, on back of Field Pack, with male belt fastener to your right. clips so that the center of belt matches center of pack, sliding bar engages hole in bottom of clip in all instances.
