2、 , PILEDRIVER, DROP ; 1,800 AND 3,000 POUNDS This specification is approved for use by all Departments and Agencies of the Department of Defense. 1. SCOPE 1.1 Scope. This specification covers drop piledriver hammers. 1.2 Classification. The hammer shall be one of the following sizes: Size 1 - 1,800

3、pounds. Size 2 - 3,000 pounds. 2. APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS 2.1 Issues of documents. 7、 ) 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Description. The drop piledriver hammer shall consist of the hammer, the pile cap with attached rope sling, the plug, and the ring. The 1,800 pound drop piledriver hammer shall be as shown on Drawing 1322134785 and the 3,000 pound drop piledriver hammer shall be as shown on Dr

8、awing 1322134780, and as specified herein. . _. - 3.1.1 Drawings. The drawings forming a part of this specification are end product drawings. Any data (e.g., shop drawings, layouts, flow sheets, processing procedure, etc.) prepared by the contractor or obtained from a vendor to support fabrication and manufacture of the pr

10、oduction item shall be made available, upon request, for inspection by the contracting officer or his designated representative. 3.2 Materials. Material shall be as specified herein and as shown on the applicable drawings. 3.3 Weight. The weight of finished hammer shall be 1,800 pounds for Size 1 an

11、d 3,000 pounds for Size 2, plus or minus 10 percent. 3.4 Plug. The plug shall be free from checks and knots. The grain in the wood shall be paralleled to the length of the plug. 3.5 Rope sling. The rope sling shall be 2-1/4 inch nominal cir- cumference manila rope with a breaking strength of 5,400 p

12、ounds or 2-3/4 inch nominal circumference sisal rope with breaking strength of 6,160 pounds, conforming to T-R-605. through the holes of the pile cap and the rope ends shall be spliced to form a loop on each side of the cap, a sling over the hooks provided on the sides of the hammer. The rope shall

13、be threaded The loops shall be used as 3.6 Identification marking. The hammer shall be identified, in accordance with MIL-STD-130. The weight of the finished hammer shall - be stenciled on the side of the hammer in such a manner as to be dis- cernible. Stenciling shall conform to MIL-T-704. 3.7 Trea

14、tment and painting. The hammer and ponents except the guide grooves and the rope sling shall be cleaned, treated, and painted in accordance with MIL-T-704, Spe A, color as specified (see 6.2). 3.8 Workmanship, All parts and components which include castings and fprgings shall be clean of harmful ext

15、raneous material such as sand, dirt, sprues, and flux. Rework shall be limited to procedures which do not reduce mechanical properties or affect function, Holes shall “ave the burrs removed. 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsiblity for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract,

16、 the contractor is responsible for the performance of all inspec- tion requirements as specified herein. 17、ny other facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure that supplies and services conform to prescri

18、bed requirements. The Government reserves the right 4.1.1 Component and material inspection. The contractor is responsible for insuring that components and materials used are manufactured, examined, and tested in accordance with referenced specifications, standards, and drawings. 4.2 Classification

19、of inspections. The inspection requirements speci- fied herein are classified as follows: (a) (b) Inspection of packaging (see 44). Quality conformance inspection (see 4.3). 4.3 Quality conformance inspection. 4.3.1 Sampling. Sampling for examination shall be in accordance with MIL-STD-105. 4.3.2 Ex

Samples selected in accordance with 4.3.1 shall be examined for the major and minor characteristics for possible defects defects and 2.5 percent defective for minor defects. as specified in 4.4.1. AQL shall be 1.0 percent defective for major 4.4 Inspection procedure. 4.4.1 Examination. Th

25、ation, packing, and marking, The drop piledriver hammer, its parts and components, and the technical publications shall be pre- served, packed, and marked in accordance with MIL-C-3580. The preser- vation and packing shall be Level A, B, or Comercial as specified (see 6.2). 6. NOTES 6.1 Intended use

26、. The drop piledriver hammers are intended for use with piledriving leads conforming to MIL-L-11025. 6.2 Ordering data.
