15、etters may be embroidered on tape or base fabric. 3.3.2.1 Types I, IA, II, IIA, IV, and IVA. Figures 1, 2, and 4 provide information for embroidery on tape. 3.3.2.2. Types III and IIIA. Figure 3 provides information for embroidery on base fabric. 3.3.2.2.1 Base fabric. The base fabric for the insign

16、ia shall be a mid-weight nylon/cotton twill cloth conforming as follows to MCCUU (see 2.1.2): TYPE INSIGNIA TYPE FABRIC FROM MCCUUIII Type I, Class 4 IIIA Type II, Class 3 3.3.2.2.2 Embroidery thread. a. The needle thread shall be either a cotton wrap, polycore, Type I, Ticket 50, 2-ply, conforming

17、to A-A-50199 or a 100% polyester filament equal to Madeira USA Ltd.s (see 6.5) polyneon no. 40. The bobbin thread shall be either a cotton wrap, polycore Type I, Ticket 50, 2-ply conforming to A-A-50199 or a 100% nylon Type I, Class A, 210 denier (70, 3-ply) conforming to V-T-295. b. For Type III in

18、signia, the color of the needle thread shall conform to Black Cable No. 67138 (see the DOD Standard Shades For Heraldic Yarns For Embroidery and Ribbons, 1993 Edition referenced in 2.2) if cotton wrap polycore thread is used or shall be equal to Madeira Black color No. 1800 if Madeira USAs polyneon

19、no. 40 thread is used. For Type IIIA insignia, the color of the needle thread shall conform to Brown Cable No. 67136 if cotton wrap polycore thread is used or shall be equal to Madeira Brown color No. 1957 if Madeira USAs polyneon no. 40 threadProvided by IHSNot for ResaleNo reproduction or networki

If nylon bobbin thread is used, the color shall be black. 3.4 Construction of Types I, IA, II, IIA, IV, and

21、IVA. These insignia shall be fabricated in accordance with the details and dimensions shown on Figures 1, 2, and 4, as applicable. 22、S-,-,-MIL-I-12718F AMENDMENT 4 3.5 Construction of Types III and IIIA. These insignia shall be fabricated in accordance with the details and dimensions shown on Figure 3. 3.5.1 Base fabric tape. The length of cloth for the tapes shall be cut in the filling direction, i.e., from selvage to selvage. T

23、he cut width of the tape shall be 2 inches 1/8 inch. Top and bottom edges of the tape cloth shall be folded under 1/2 inch toward the center back. A 1 inch wide strip of washable fusible interlining shall be centered and fused to the underside of the cut tape. The finished width of the tape prior to

24、 embroidery shall be 1 inch + 1/16 inch - 0.) 3.5.2 Embroidery. The distinguishing service identifier, “U.S. MARINES,“ shall be embroidered using 3/4 inch + 1/64 inch - 0 high military block letters in Meistergram font style #8 with modifications to thicken the cross bars on the letters. All letteri

25、ng shall be in upper case only, and there shall be a space before “MARINES.“ The minimum stitch density shall be constant 88 + 5%. 3.5.3 Cutting.
