REQUIREMENTS 3,l First article. When specified (see 6.2), a sample shall be subjected to first article

The basic material shall be batting, ar
19、amid or Novoloid fiber, quilted; conforming to MIL-B-81813. The color of the outercovering cloth shall be Olive Green 106. The color of the needle thread shall be Olive Drab. 3.3.2 Front extensions and binding. The material for the front extension and binding shall be 3 ounces per square yard aramid
20、 cloth conforming to MIL-C-43774. The color shall be Olive Green 106. 3.3.3 Thread. The thread shall be aramid, Camouflage Green 483, matching color chip 34094 of FED-STD-595 size E and B conforming to type I of MIL-T-43636, and shall be used in accordance with the requirements of table II. As an al
21、ternate, MIL-T-44100 para-aramid, spun, Camouflage Green 483, size T-35, two-ply thread may be used for all operations. When no standard sample is available, the thread shall show “good“ fastness to laundering. 3.3.4 Labels. Each coat and trouser liner shall have a class 2 size label, a class 1 iden
22、tification label, and a class 3 instruction label conforming to type VI of DDD-L-20. The color shall be medium green Cable No. 70034, 70130 or 70131 and the colorfastness to laundering shall apply. 3.3.4.1 Size label. The size label shall contain the Size and Stock No. of each coat and trouser liner
23、. letters and numerals not less than 10-point. Descriptive information shall be printed in 3.3.4.2 Instruction label. The instruction label shall contain the following information: LINER, COMBAT VEHICLE CREWMENS COVERALL: 1. Wear with coveralls for extra warmth. 2. Dry liner and coveralls separately
24、 when damp or wet. 3. Wash by hand or machine launder in accordance with Formula I, TM 10-280. Rinse thoroughly and drip or machine dry. 4. After 10 laundering cycles and thereafter, launder in accordance with Formula IX (no bleach) of TM 10-280, field laundry and Natick Formula X, fixed laundry for
25、 the retreatment of anti-static agent. 3.3.4.3 Combination label. The size and identification labels may be combined into one label, or the size, identification and instruction labels may be combined into one label, type IV, class 14 conforming to DDD-L-20. 3.3.5 Snap fasteners. The snap fasteners s

27、B m MIL-L-44299A 3.3.6 Sleeve tabs. The tabs shall be made of 5/8 inch wide aramid fiber webbing conforming to type I of MIL-W-43685. The color shall be Olive Green 106. 3.4 Design. The liner shall consist of a separate coat and trouser components secured together by snap fasteners. 3.5 Patterns. St
28、andard patterns which provide a seam allowance of 1/2 inch for all joining seams (to finish at least 3/8 inch wide) and 3/8 inch for front extensions, will be furnished by the Government. The Government patterns shall not be altered in any way and are to be used only as a guide for cutting the contr
29、actors working patterns. The working patterns shall be identical to the Government patterns. 3.5.1 Pattern parts, The components of the liners shall be cut from the material as specified and in accordance with the number of parts indicated in table I. Figures are furnished sol
31、ely for guidance and information. Should variation from the specification appear in figure 1 or figure 2, the specification shall govern. 3.6.1 Stitches, seams and stitching. All stitches, seams, and stitching shall conform to FED-STD-751, The type of seam, stitching, and stitches per inch shall be
32、as specified in table II, Seam allowances shall be maintained with seams sewn so that no raw edges, run-Offs, pleats, puckers, or open seams occur. When two or more methods of seams or or stitches are given for the same operation, any one may be used. 3.6.1.1 Type 301 stitching. Ends of all stitchin
33、g shall be backstitched or overstitched not less than 1/2 inch except where ends are turned under or caught in other seams or stitching. Thread tensions shall be maintained so that there will be no loose stitching resulting in loose bobbin or top thread, or excess- ively tight stitching resulting in
34、 puckering of the materials sewn. Repairs of type
35、301 stitching shall be as follows: a. When thread breaks ar bobbin run-out.occur during stitching, the stitching shall be repaired by restarting the stitching a minimum of 1/2 inch back of the end of the stitching. - i/ b. Thread breaks or two or more consecutive skipped or run-off stitches noted du
36、ring inspection of the item shall be repaired by overstitching, The stitching shall start a minimum of l/Z inch in back of the defective area, and continue a minimum of 1/2 inch beyond the defective area on to the existing stitching. Loose or excessively tight stitching shall be repaired by removing
37、 the defective stitching without damaging the materials and restitching in the required manner, constitute damage to the material. 38、e 401, 502, 503, 515, 516, and 519 stitching. Thread tension shall be maintained so that there will be no loose stitching, or excessively tight stitching resulting in puckering of the materials sewn. All repairs shall be in accordance with 3.6.1.1.la and b, Repairs to stitch type 401 may be accompli
39、shed by use of stitch type 301. 3.6.1.3 Bartack, The bartacks shall measure 1/2 to 5/8 inch in length and 1/8 - + 1/32 inch wide. 3.6.1.4 Repairs. Repairs such as mends, darns, patches, or splices are not permitted on the liner. 3.6.1.5 Automatic stitching. Automatic stitching machines may be used t
40、o perform any of the required stitch patterns provided the requirements for the stitch pattern, stitches per inch, and size and type of thread are met, and at least three or more tying, overlapping, or back stitches are used to secure the ends of stitching. 3.6.1.6 Thread ends, All thread ends shall
41、 be trimmed to 1/4 inch maximum length. 3.7 Manufacturing operation requirements.
