The light, designed for two-handed operation, shall be similar to that shown on Figure 1 (see 6.4), and as specified herein. 3.2 First article (first-produced li
14、ght). The contractor shall furnish one or more lights as specified (see 6.2) for examination and testing within the time frame specified (see 6.2) to prove that his production methods and choice of design detail will produce lights that comply with the requirements of this specification. Examination
15、 and tests shall be as specified in Section 4 and shall be subject to sur- veillance and approval by the Government (see 6.3). 3.3 Material. Material shall be as specified herein. Materials not specified shall be selected by the contractor and shall be subject to all provisions of this specification

The light shall perform as specified herein in any ambient temperature from plus 55 C to minus 54“ C at a relative humidity (rh) of up to 100
17、percent with condensation and with sand and dust conditions as encountered in arid regions. 3.5 Performance. 3.5.1 Light distribution, The light distribution in both horizontal and vertical planes, with the lamp specified in 3.6.1.4 operated at 70 spherical candlepower , without- color filter but wi

19、us type requiring no focusing by personnel of the operating units. A rigid base plate shall be used to support the parabolic reflector assembly, lamp and filter holder, filter changing mechanism, and the two handles. rigidly fastened to the base plate, separate from the drum. The light shall be

The color transmission of the filters shall conform to MIL-C-25050, Type I, (a) Aviation Red and (c) Aviation Green. The filters shall be correctly positioned and firinly held in the light by

28、(V) RP-11 clear bulb, C-6 filament, 200-hour life, 7/8-inch light center length, 2-1/4-inch maximum overall length, single-contact prefocused base lamp, designation No. 1501 or equal. The lamp shall be accurately positioned and securely held in the light by a socket of the prefocus type. and furnish
29、ed with the light. Unless otherwise specified (see 6.2), a lamp shall be installed 3.6.1.5 Housing. The optical system shall be enclosed in a housing fabricated of aluminum. to protect and support components mounted on or within the housing. The housing shall be rigid and strong enough 3.6.1.5.1 Cov
30、er. A clear cover shall be provided at the front of the housing. The color and transmission of the cover shall be aviation white conforming to EL-C-25050, Type I, (e) Aviation White. The. cover shall be plastic conforming to MIL-C-7989, Class D. 3.6.1.5.1.1 Holder. The cover shall be firmly held in
31、a holder designed to fit on the front of the housing. An E-3102 conn
32、ector socket conforming to MIL-C-5015 for connection to the leads Specified in 3.6.5.3 and 3.6.6 shall be located at the approximate midpoint of the base of the traffic light. 3.6.1.6 Color indicator. A plastic prism device shall be provided at the front of the light to redirect a small part of the
33、main beam to the operators eye. brightness that an operator with normal vision can distinguish the color of the filter in use in bright daylight. A dimming method shall be provided to regulate this color-indicating beam if the redirected light is too bright for comfortable use at night. The color in
34、dicator shall be of sufficient 3.6.2 Sighting device. A sighting device with front and rear sights shall be provided along the top of the light so that the light can be properly aimed. The centerline of the sight shall be parallel to the optical axis of the light. 3.6.3 Handles. Two handles as shown
35、 on Figure 1 shall be provided. The front handle shall be cylindrical in shape and shall be rotatable. 3.6.4 Hanger. A yoke-type hanger or other means shall be provided so that the light can be suspended from an overhead wire. The axis of the housing shall be essentially parallel to the ground when

A two-coil isolating transformer shall be provided in order that the light can be operated from a commercial 50/60-Hertz 120V source. The transformer shall have a minimum rati
37、ng of 50 Volt- amperes (VA) and shall be weatherproof. With 120V, 50/60-Hertz current applied to the primary, and with the specified lamp and lead installed, the transformer shall supply a voltage of 7 2 0.1V at the lamp. temperature rise of the transformer as determined by the resistance method sha
38、ll not exceed 65“ C when operating continuously at rated load and voltage. The transformer case shall have at least two holes for 1/4-inch mounting bolts. The dielectric strength between winding and case and between windings shall be satisfactory when tested at 1OOOV. The 3.6.5.1 Fuse. A small fuse,
39、 enclosed so that it is waterproof, shall be provided in the transformer secondary circuit. The fuse shall be rated at 32V, 10 amp. 40、9999906 0098399 5 m MIL-L-6617C 3.6.5.2 Primary lead. The primary lead of the transformer shall be 2-conductorY 16-AWG cable conforming to MIL-C-5756. One end of the cable shall be permanently connected to the transformer and the other end shall terminate in a two-pole, parallel-blade connector conf
41、orming to W-C-596/3-2. The length of the lead shall be 3 feet. 3.6.5.3 Secondary lead. The secondary lead from the transformer to the light shall be 2-conductorY 16-AWG cable conforming to MIL-C-5756. One end of the cable shall be permanently connected to the transformer, and the other end shall ter
42、minate in an AN-type straight connector plug conforming to MIL-C-5015 and shall be compatible with the connector socket on the light. The length of the lead shall be 20 feet. 3.6.6 Auxiliary lead. An auxiliary lead shall be furnished for emergency operation of the light from a battery. 2-conductor,
43、16-AWG cable conforming to MIL-C-5756. One end of the cable shall terminate in an AN-type straight connector conforming to MIL-C-5015 and shall be compatible with the connector socket on the light. freeing 12-inch lengths of the two insulated conductors. 44、clip conforming to W-C-440, Type PC for connection to the terminals of a storage battery. The length of the lead shall be 10 feet.
