One pole is adjustable to lengths of 3 feet, 5 feet, and 7 feet; and the other pole is adjustable to lengths of 8 feet, 6 inches and 10 feet, 6 inches. 1.2 Classification. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 First article, When specified in the contract or purchase order, a sample shall be subjected to first article inspection (see 4.3, 6.2, and 6.3). 3.2 Materials and components. Materials (see 6.5) and components shall be as speci

17、fied on the applicable drawings and as specified herein. For materials or components for which it is stated “or equal“, if the contractor proposes to use an item considered to be equal to the material or component specified, prior to its use the contractor shall furnish a sample of the material or c

18、omponent, with supporting data to the contracting officer for subsequent evaluation by the responsible military agency. 3.2.1 Aluminum alloys. 3.2.l:l Bar and rod. Aluminum alloy bar and rod shall conform to 6061-T6 of QQ-A-200/8 or QQ-A-22518, or 6063-T6 of QQ-A-20019. 3.2.1.2 - Tube, Aluminum allo

20、Aluminum alloy die castings shall conform to alloy number 360.0 or A 360,O of QQ-A-591. 3.2.2 Wire rope, Wire rope shall be of the type and size as shown on Drawings 5-4-1091 and 5-4-1092. . 3-2.3 Primer, Primer shall conform to composition G or L as applicable, color Y of TT-P-1757, 3.2.4 Enamel. E

21、namel shall conform to class A or B, composition G or L, Olive Drab No. 24087 of TT-E-529. 3.2.5 Epoxy coating. As an alternate to the primer and enamel specified above, the tent poles may be coated with standard Corvell ECA-1555-FC3 Epoxy Coating. The color shall be Olive Drab No. 24087. 3.2.6 Enam

22、el acrylic. As an alternate to the coating requirements specified in 3.2.4 and 3.2.5, Duracon Super 600 acrylic enamel may be used to coat the tent pole. The color shall be Olive Drab No. 24087. * 3.2.7 Enamel polyurethane, As an alternate to the coating requirements The color shall be Olive Drab No

23、. .24087, specified in 3.2.4, 3.2.5 and 3.2.6, polyurethane enamel conforming to type I, class A of TT-C-542may be used. I : 3.3 Construction. The con.struction of the poles shall- conform to Drawings 5-4-1091 through 5-4-1093 and as specified herein. The poles shall be capable of extending and retr

24、acting by hand operation to the lengths specified without binding or having to use a tool to force the sections to extend or retract, Safety bolts shall be capable of function as intended, i.e., being readily inserted in safety bolt holes and locked in position by hand operation. bolt holes shall be

25、 in alignment longitudinally in accordance with tolerance specified on applicable drawing when the pole is in its fully retracted condition, at each specified length and at its fully extended condition (prior to insertion of safety bolts). Wire rope and sleeve assembly shall be capable of withstanding a load of 180 pounds minimum in tension without fracture of sleeve or wire rope and with no evidence of wire rope pulling out of, or through, sleeve when tested as speci

29、fied in 4.4.5. The loop of wire rope shall be 1 + 1/4 inches in length between the sleeve and the lanced retainer or welded clip assembly, as applicable. * 3.3.4 Lancing, The wall of the tube shall be lanced (see 6.4) as shown on Drawing 5-4-1093 to retain the wire rope as follows: a, Lanced retaine

30、r shall be free of fracture or crack. Welding of fractured or cracked lanced retainer shall not be permitted. b. Lanced retainer shall be capable of withstanding a load of 180 pounds minimum in tension without fracture, cracking, or bending out of shape when tested as specified in 4.4.5. * 3.-3.5 Cl

The welded clip shall be cap-able of withstanding a load of 180 pounds minimum in tension without fracture, bending out of shape, or separating from the tube when tested as specified in 4.4.5. * 3.4 Finish. Prior to finishing, all burrs, s

33、harp edges, andrough spots shall be removed and all lancing or welding, as applicable, shall be completed. All aluminum surfaces to be primed shall be prepared for painting in accordance with class 1A treatment of MIL-C-5541 or class 1 or 2 treatment of ASTM.B 449. After final assembly and with the

34、pole fully extended, all exposed surfaces including wire rope retainers and safety bolts shall be coated with primer specified in 3.2.3. After drying, primed surfaces shall be coated with enamel specified in 3.2.4. The finish coating shall level out to produce a smooth, uniform, dry finish without b

35、listers, peeling, chipping, or cracking. The finish shall be free from any area of no film, sag, run, drop, scratch, or pebbled finish. The crevice adjacent to the spring of the safety bolts shall be protected from build-up of finish coating to prevent malfunction of the spring action. Coating damag

36、ed during examination of the poles shall be touched up. 3.4.1: Epoxy coating or acrylic enamel. When the coating specified in 3.2.5, 3.2.6, or 3.2.7 is used as an alternate, the requirements in 3.4 shall apply, except priming is not required. The coatings shall be applied in accordance with the manu

37、facturers instructions. 3.5 Marking for identification. The letters “U.S.“ and the manufacturers name or trade name, or trademark of such characters as to be identifiable with the manufacturer, shall be distinctly indented or raised on the side or bottom surface of the end plug and shall be not less

The finished pole shall be clean and free of dirt and gr

39、ease. All staked components shall be sound, tight, and free from looseness e.g., staked tube loose in countersink of hole in shaft or disc loose on shaft. 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4,l Responsibility for inspection, Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor i

40、s responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements as specified herein. in the contract or purchase order, the contractor may use his own or any other facilities suitable for the performance iif the inspection requirements specified herein unless disapproved by the Government. to perfo

41、rm any of the inspections set forth in the document where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements. Except as otherwise specified The Government reserves the right _. * 4.1.1 Responsibility for compliance. All items must meet all requir

The absence of any inspection requirement in the document shall not relieve the contractor of the responsibility of assuring that all products or

44、Responsibility for dimensional requirements. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor is responsible for assuring that all specified dimensions have been met. When dimensions cannot be . examined on the end item, inspection shall be made at any point, or at all po

45、ints in the manufacturing process necessary to assure compliance with all dimensional requirements. 4.2 Classification of inspection, The inspection requirements specified herein are classified as follows: .L -. a. b, First article inspection (see 4.3). 46、First article inspection. When a first article .is required (see 6,2), it shall be examined for the defects specified in table I and 4.4.4 and tested for the characteristics specified in table II. In accordance with 4.1, components and materials shall be inspected in accordance with all the requirements of referenced documents unless otherwise excluded, amended, modified, or qualified in this document or applicable purchase document. 4.42 In-process exami

Examination shall be made of the following .operations to establish conformance with the specified requirements. nonconformance is noted, correction shall be made to items affected, the lot in process, and the operation.
