REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Material 3.1.1 Composition. -The paper shall be made from 100 percent Northern Softwood semi-bleached kraft with a GE Brightness typical
13、ly 60-75 when tested as specified in Table VII. 3.1.2 Manufacture. The paper shall be manufactured on a cylinder machine, made into three or four plies with one outer ply colored and with a machine finish. 3.1.3 Color. The color of one side of the papers (wire side) shall be yellow conforming to Yel
14、low Color No. 23655 Table V of FED-STD-595 and the other side shall be semi-bleached kraft felt. 3.2 Physical properties. 17、s shall be wound uniformly and smoothly on non-returnable cores of 3-inch (76 mm) inside diameter with a plus 1/8-inch (3 mm) tolerance. The core length shall be not less than the specified roll width nor greater by more than 1/4-inch (6 mm). Cores shall be fitted with a plug at each end having a 1-
18、inch (25 mm) diameter center hole having plus 1/4-inch (6 mm) tolerance. Rolls shall be suitably restrained to prevent unwinding. 3.3.1 Roll tolerance. 3.3.1.1 Width. A plus 1/8-inch (3 mm) and a minus l/lg-inch 2 mm) tolerance shall be permitted in the cross direction and a plus or minus 1/8-inch (
19、3 mm) tolerance shall be allowed in the machine direction or in both directions. 3.3.1.2 Length. The length of any individual roll shall be not less than 95 percent of the specified length. The average length of rolls in any one lot shall not be less than the specified length. . 3.3.2 Splices. Splic
20、es shall cover the entire roll width. Splices shall not separate during unwinding of the roll. No roll shall have more than one splice in any 50 yard (46 m,) length of the material. Each splice shall be tagged with a colored marker . 3.4 Identification. The paper shall be marked by printing the appl

The paper shall be clean and shall be free from wrinkles, folds, tears, holes, cuts, abrasions, foreign matter, oil spots, surface dirt and dust. Edges shall be clean cut. 3.6 First article inspection. This specification contains provisions for f
23、irst article inspection. Requirements for the submission of first article samples by the contractor shall be as specified in the contract. 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for inspection and standard qualit assurance provisions. the contract, the provisions of MIL-A-48078 shall app
24、ly and are herebymade a part of this detail specification. 4.2 Classification of inspections. The following types of inspections shall be conducted on this item: Unless otherwise specified hereYn or in a. First Article Inspection (see 4.3) b. Quality Conformance Inspection (see 4.4) 4.3 First articl
25、e inspection. 4.3.1 Submission. The contractor shall submit a first article sample as designated by the Contracting Officer for evaluation in accordance with provisions of 4.3.2. The first article sample shall consist of two (2) rolls of the paper. 4.3.2 Inspection to be performed. See MIL-A-48078 a
26、nd Table VI1 specified herein. 4.3.3 Rejection. See MIL-A-48078. 4.4 Quality conformance inspection. 4.4.1 Inspection lot formation. Inspection lots shall comply with lot formation provisions of MIL-A-48078. 4.4.2 Examination - See MIL-A-48078 e c , a. Sampling plans. Unless otherwise specified in t
27、his specification sampling for inspection shall be in accordance with MIL-STD-105. If any sample fails to meet any test require- ment, the lot represented by the sample shall be rejected. The end item shall be examinec for the defects as set forth below at the inspection levels and acceptable quality levels (AQ
29、Ls) set forth in 4.4.2.7. Random samples shall be drawn from each lot of the same type and size for examination of visual, dimensional, and packaging defects. The lot size shall be all the rolls of the same type submitted at one time and shall be expressed in finished rolls for examinations in 4.4.2
30、.1 thru 4.4.2.4, in units of shipping containers for examinations in 4.4.2.5 and in palletized unit loads, for examination in 4.4.2.6. 4.4.2.1 Visual examination. The sample unit for this examination shall be three randomly selected samples of two yards in length and the full roll width. No sample u
31、nits shall be taken from the first or last convolutions of the roll. Both sides of the sheet shall be examinea. Defects of each type shall be scored only once within a sample unit. TABLE II. 49、ions in 4.4.2.1 thru 4.4.2.4. 4.4.3 Testing All tests shall be conducted on material that was conditioned in an atmosphere.in accordance with method T 402 of TAPPI. In addition, the testing atmosphere shall be the same as the conditioning atmosphere. 4.4.3.1 End item testing.
