3、RMOCOUPLE This specification is approved for use by all Departments and Agencies of the Department of Defense. 1. SCOPE 1.1 Scope. This specification covers four types of thermocouple harness assemblies, hereinafter referred to as the harness. 1.2 Classification. Harnesses are of the following types

Type II - Differentiating characteristics in accordance with Drawing 12302362 and as specified herein. Type III - Differentiating characteristics in accordance with Drawing 12302363 and

Unless otherwise noted herein or in the contract, in the event of a conflict between the text of this document and the references cited herein, the text of this document takes precedence. Nothing

21、 in this document, however, supersedes applicable laws and regulations unless a specific exemption has been obtained. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Differentiating characteristics. The harnesses shall conform to the following (see 4.5.2): Type I - Differentiating characteristics in accordance with Drawing 123

22、02361 and as specified herein Type II - Differentiating characteristics in accordance with Drawing 12302362 and as specified herein Type III - Differentiating characteristics in accordance with Drawing 12302363 and as specified herein Type IV - Differentiating characteristics in accordance with Draw

23、ing 12302438 or Drawing 12472667 and as specified herein 3.2 First article. When specified (see 6.2), a sample shall be subjected to first article inspection in accordance with 4.3. 3.3 Materials. Materials shall be as specified herein and as noted on the applicable drawing. Materials not designated

24、 on the drawing or specifically covered by this specification shall be uniform in quality and free from imperfections or defects which affect their serviceability (see 4.5.1). Thermocouple conductors, sockets, connector inserts, and potting material shall be impervious to the environments and condit

All materials used in the harness shall be impervious to fluids in accordance with A-A-59133, A-A-52527, MIL-DTL-5624, MIL-PRF-6

26、083, and MIL-PRF-23699 (see 4.5.1). 3.3.2 Corrosion resistance. All external surfaces shall have corrosion resistance at least equivalent to anodized aluminum. Also, there should be no direct contact between dissimilar metals (see 4.5.1). 3.3.3 Thermocouple wire. The thermocouple wire shall be chrom

27、el and alumel and shall have an accuracy of 0.75 percent from 752 to 1832 degrees Fahrenheit (F) (400 to 1000 degrees Celsius (C) (see 4.5.1). 3.3.4 Connector Inserts. Connector insert material shall be fluorocarbon in accordance with SAE AMS 3216 (see 4.5.1). (Applicable to type IV harnesses only.)

28、 3.3.5 Potting. Where applicable, epoxy shall be used in the area where sockets and conductors are connected, to provide additional support (see 4.5.1). 3.3.6 Recycled, recovered, or environmentally preferable materials. Recycled, recovered, or environmentally preferable materials should be used to

29、the maximum extent possible provided that the material meets or exceeds the operational and maintenance requirements, and promotes economically advantageous life cycle costs (see 4.5.1). 3.4 Design and construction. 3.4.1 Configuration. The harness shall conform to the applicable drawing (see 4.5.1

30、and 4.5.2). 3.4.1.1 Schematic arrangement. The schematic arrangement for the harness shall be as defined on the applicable drawing (see 4.5.1 and 4.5.2). 3.4.1.2 Interface definition. Electrical and mechanical interfaces shall be as defined on the applicable harness drawing and Drawing 12284516 (see

31、 4.5.1 and 4.5.2). 3.4.2 Weight. The weight of the harness shall not exceed 1.0 pounds (lb) (454 grams (g) (see 4.5.1 and 4.5.2). 3.4.3 Thermocouple probes. Thermocouple probes shall be closed and ungrounded with a recovery factor of less than 0.75 (see 4.5.1 and 4.5.2). 3.5 Performance. 3.5.1 Indiv

32、idual circuit resistance. 33、430B 6 a. Type I - 3.19 to 3.67 ohms b. Type II - 5.04 to 5.80 ohms c. Type III - 5.37 to 6.17 ohms d. Type IV - As defined on applicable engineering drawing. 3.5.2 Average circuit resistance. The average circuit resistance between connector contact A and all other contacts (except F) shorted togeth

34、er at 70 F (21 C) shall be in accordance with the following (see 4.5.2): a. Type I - 1.92 to 2.28 ohms b. Type II - 3.43 to 3.95 ohms c. Type III - 3.69 to 4.25 ohms d. Type IV - As defined on applicable engineering drawing. 3.5.3 Insulation resistance. The insulation resistance between the circuits

35、 and connector shells and outer braid shall be not less than 25,000 ohms at 250 volts direct current (Vdc) (see 4.5.3). 3.5.4 Output signal. The individual thermocouples shall have an output signal in accordance with ASTM E230 (see 4.5.4). 3.5.4.1 Output signal accuracy. Each individual thermocouple

36、 shall produce an output signal within 11 F (6 C) of the applied temperature, when the thermocouple junction is subjected to an applied temperature of 111218 F (60010 C) (see 4.5.4. 1). 3.5.5 Leakage. The full length of sensing probe sheath shall be free of flaws or holes that would allow fuel leaka

37、ge to enter the inner insulation. The leakage rate shall not exceed 1.83 cubic inches per minute (in3/min) (3000 cubic centimeters per minute (cm3/min) at 20010 pounds per square inch (psi) (137969 kilopascals (kPa) (see 4.5.2). 3.5.6 Reliability. When operated within the specified environmental and

38、 operational stress use envelope, the assembly shall exhibit a Mean-Time-Between-Failure (MTBF) equal to or greater than 10,000 hours (see 4.5.5). 3.6 Environmental conditions. 3.6.1 High temperature. The harness shall meet the specified performance requirements when exposed to the following tempera

39、tures (see 4.5.6.1 and 4.5.6.1.1): a. Electrical connectors - not greater than 400 F (204 C) b. Harness and leads - not greater than 1200 F (649 C) c. Thermocouple probes - 180050 F (98228 C) 3.6.2 Low temperature. The harness shall meet the specified performance requirements when exposed to a tempe

The harness shall meet the specified performance requirements when exposed to an altitude of 1300 feet (ft) (396 me

41、ters (m) below sea level to 10,000 ft (3048 m) above sea level (see 4.5.6.3). 3.6.4 Humidity. The harness shall meet the specified performance requirements, and shall evidence no corrosion or other defects which would affect the function or structural strength, when exposed to 0 to 100 percent (%) r

42、elative humidity (see 4.5.6.4). 3.6.5 Salt fog. The harness shall meet the specified performance requirements when exposed to a salt fog (see 4.5.6.5). 3.6.6 Sand and dust. The harness shall meet the specified performance requirements when exposed to blowing dust (fine sand) (see 4.5.6.6). 3.6.7 Fun

43、gus. The harness shall not promote the growth of fungus (see 4.5.6.7). 3.6.8 Vibration. The harness shall meet the specified performance requirements when subjected to vibration having levels in accordance with figure 1 from 25 to 500 to 25 Hertz (Hz) (see 4.5.6.8). FIGURE 1. 44、. 3.6.9 Gun-firing shock. The harness shall meet the specified performance requirements without malfunction when subjected to shocks of 555.5 gravity units (g) (53954 meters per second squared (m/s2) for 2.50.2 milliseconds (ms) duration in any direction (see 4.5.6.9). 3.6.10 Ballistic shock. The ha

The harness shall meet the specified performance requirements without malfunction when subjected to half sine wave shock pulses of 303 g (29429 m/s2) for 18 ms duration in any direction (see

47、 4.5.6.11). 3.6.12 Submergence. The harness shall meet performance requirements after submergence in water (see 4.5.6.12). 3.7 Identification marking. Identification marking shall be in accordance with ANSI/SAE AS478 and as noted on the applicable drawing (see 4.5.2). 3.8 Workmanship. MIL-HDBK-454,

48、Guideline 9 (Workmanship) shall be used as guidance for workmanship for the harnesses (see 4.5.7). 3.9 Safety. MIL-STD-882 and MIL-HDBK-759 shall provide design guidance for design safety review, safety hazard levels, safety precedence, analysis, action on identified hazards, and safety testing (see

49、 4.5.8). 4. VERIFICATION 4.1 Classification of inspections. Inspection requirements specified herein are classified as follows: a. First article inspection (see 4.3) b. Conformance inspections (see 4.4) 1. Examination (4.4.2) 2. Acceptance tests (see 4.4.3) 4.2 Inspection conditions. Unless otherwise specified (see 6.2), all inspections shal
