This specification contains the requirements for the preparation of depot manuals (DM) covering operation, maintenance, and calibration procedures for d

These requirements are applicable to manuals for equipment which is used for diagnostic and acceptance testing of field equipment items retumed to the depot for reconditioning. REOUIREMENTS 3.1 GeneraL Technical manuals shall consist of pertinent support data (including engineering or Commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) manual the text shall be used oniy to support the diagrams as necessary for clarity. Functional diagrams shall depict the development

Signal levels, direction of flow, wave forms, etc, sha
16、ll be included as applicable. 3.3.8 Chapter 3 - Operating procedures 3.3.8.1 Section I - Setup instructions Site selection, unpacking, assembly, installation instructions, and special tools and requirements for installation inspection and pre-energizing procedures shall be provided in this section.
17、Instructions shall also be given for establishing normal, neutral, zero, center, on-off, or any required positions of each switch, control, or similar item before connecting to power when the equipment is in shutdown status. 3.3.8.2 Section II - Controls and indicators This section shall contain inf
18、ormation which is needed by the operator to properly identify, determine the function and use of, connect, operate, and protect the equipment being used. Controls and indicators shall be supported by illustrations which identify and locate ail operator controls and indicators. 3.3.8.3 Section IIi -
19、Turn-on and tum-off procedures This section shall contain instructions to place the equipment in operation, to operate the equipment in each mode of operation, to remove the equipment from operation and put it in standby condition, and to remove it from operation and put it in shutdown status. Instr
20、uctions shall be provided for turning the equipment off during an emergency (fire, hazard to personnel, loss of coolant, normal power, etc.), as applicable. 3.3.9 Chapter 4 - Maintenance requirements 3.3.9.1 Section I - Facilities, equipment, and material standards 3.3.9.1.1 Facilities. The faciliti
21、es required for maintenance of the test equipment, including special factors such as environment, shall be listed. 3.3.9.1.2 Special tools and equipment This portion shail contain the detailed description, instructions, and illustrations for special tools and equipment which are necessary to perform
22、 maintenance on the test equipment, including any items which must be locally fabricated. Specific dimensions and tolerances shall be supplied for tools and furtures. 3.3.9.1.3 Material standards. Unless otherwise specified by the contracting activity (see 6.2), this portion shail state that parts a
23、nd material used for replacement, repair, or modification shall meet all applicable equipment drawings and specifications. 3.3.9.2 Section II - Preventive maintenance This section shall contain a tabular listing of all periodic checks, services, and safety precautions, including intervals, necessary
24、 to maintain the test equipment in an operable state. References shall be made to applicable equipment lubrication orders (LO). If no applicable LOS are published, lubrication instructions shall be included in this section, in tabular format, with illustrated locations of lubrication points. 6 Provi

26、cifications applicable to checks and procedures done on the test equipment before actual testing is performed on the unit under test o. If applicable, instructions on any adapter required for UUT procedures shall be included. Instructions shali be provided in this section for testing the performance
27、 of the test equipment in the event of failure of the UUT. Any necessary diagrams shall be included in this section. 3.3.9.4 Section N - Troubleshooting This section shd provide troubleshooting procedures should the test equipment fail to satisfy the requirements of the self-test procedure. An expla
28、nation as to how end item and major components function, and how these components interface with the rest of the equipment, shall be provided for the depot technician. Only essential information which the technician must know to troubleshoot the test equipment properly shall be provided. When specif
29、ied by the contracting activity (see 6.2), functional block diagrams, test layouts, or schematics referred to and placed in appendix C (see 3.3.13) shali be used to illustrate the interface between the test equipment and the unit or assembly equipment UUT testing loop. 3.3.9.5 Section V - Maintenanc
30、e 3.3.9.5.1 Disassembly. Disassembly procedures shall be provided to support troubleshooting, repair, or inspection (riveted, soldered, and welded parts are not normally mentioned in disassembly). Iliustrations shall be used to support the procedures. When specified by the contracting activity (see
31、6.2), engineering drawings shall be referenced for disassembly procedures. 3.3.9.5.2 Repair, replace, and adiust Instructions and specifications for repair, replacement, or adjustment shall be provided in the sequence by which they are performed. Test equipment setup and other illustrations necessar
32、y to support the procedures, with a list of all mandatory replacement parts, shaU be provided. 3.3.9.5.3 Assembly. Step-by-step instructions for assembly shall be provided, including in-process and final inspection requirements, if applicable. When specified by the contracting activity (see 6.2), th
33、e instructions shall be supported by illustrations and a checklist. When specified by the contracting activity (see 6.2), engineering drawings shall be referenced for assembly procedures. 3.3.10 Chapter 5 - Calibration. When previously developed calibration procedures are available, the publications
34、 containing the procedures shall be referenced. If no calibration procedures have been developed, they shall be prepared according to the general technical requirements of MIL-M-38793 and the standard format provided by the contracting activity (see 6.2). The calibration procedures developed shall a
35、ppear in this chapter. When specified by the contracting activity (see 6.2), engineering source data shali be used verbatim. 3.3.11 Appendix A - Reference This appendix shall consist of a consolidated listing of all reference materid (such as documents, forms, drawings, etc.) in the text and/or nece
36、ssary for operation and maintenance of the test equipment. 37、2 Appendix B - List of parts. This appendix shd include ail peculiar maintenance items and parts not identified in another equipment publication used at the depot level for the TMDE addressed in the DM. Nomenclature, description, manufacturers part number, Commercial and Government Entity Code (CAGE
38、C), and quantity shail be listed. When specified by the contracting activity (see 6.2), parts lists on engineering drawings shall be referenced. The parts listing shall be prepared in accordance with MIL-STD- 40051, except data shail not be prepared in work package format. The style and format shall
39、 conform to MIL-STD-38784. 3.3.13 Appendix C - unit under test WUT) P rocedures and test setup diauams This appendix shall contain contracting activity approved test procedures for UUT using the test equipment. Unless otherwise specified by the contracting activity (see 6.2), these UUT procedures sh
40、all not duplicate procedures in other publications, nor those provided elsewhere in the DM. The appendix shall contain a list of all UUTs, or reference a publication containing such a list. 3.3.14 Other appendixes. Additional appendixes shall be provided, as appropriate. 3.3.15. Rear matter. As appl
41、icable, material following the last numbered page shali consist of the following: glossary, index, authentication page, DA Forms 2028 (Recommended Changes to Publications and Blank Forms) , and back cover. 3.3.15.1 Glossary. A glossary shali be prepared for DMs in accordance with MIL-STD-38784. 3.3.
42、15.2 &x. Unless specified otherwise by the contracting activity (see 6.2), an alphabetical index shali be prepared in accordance with MIL-STD-38784. 3.3.15.3 Authentication PaRe The authentication page shall be provided by the contracting activity (see 6.2) and be inserted preceding the DA Forms 202
43、8. 3.3.15.4 Recommended ChanEes to Publications and Blank Forms DA Form 2028 One completed sample copy of DA Form 2028, provided by the contracting activity, and three blank DA Forms 2028 with DM number, date and title shall be included at the back of every unclassified DM. The completed sample shai
44、l include guidelines for completing the form. The three blank copies shall be tear-out forms, preprinted with the proponents address on the reverse side. 3.3.15.5 Back cover. The outside back cover shall be blank except for classified DMs. For classified DMs, security classification markings shall b
45、e included on the back cover in accordance with current regulations. 4. VERIFICATION 4.1 Verification Verification shall be as specified by the contracting activity in the contract or order (see 6.2). 5. PACKAGING 5.1 Packaging. For acquisition purposes, packaging requirements shall be as specified
46、in the contract or order (see 6.2). 47、ng activity to ascertain requisite packaging requirements. 48、ging Military Departments or Defense Agencys automated packaging files, CD-ROM products, or by contacting the responsible packaging activity. 6.
